Unsatisfied with her life in England, young mother Julia relocates to Morocco with her small daughters, Lucy and Bea. Although the family enjoys various adventures, they struggle to make ends meet.

With her two young precocious daughters, free-spirited mother Julia flees her stifling life in London for the promise of excitement, freedom and self-discovery in exotic Marrakech. In her single-minded quest for spiritual enlightenment and escapism, Julia falls into a steamy relationship with a handsome street performer. Unfortunately, her selfish determination may actually cause her to lose what she loves most. Incidentally, the title Hideous Kinky is derived from a free-association word game enjoyed by the two young girls. Told from the perspective of the youngest daughter, the story provides insight into the Moroccan atmosphere.—Jesse Payne <RUbabes@aol.com>

Hideous Kinky takes place in a time when it was not uncommon for young British free-thinkers to cross into the next continent with virtually nothing in their pockets. They left their proper schooling and part-time jobs behind to make their trek into a poor, desert country in Africa in search of themselves and their spirituality. A young hippie woman travels from London to Morocco with her two young daughters, where they deal with and adjust to the culture and people of the area.
