Närkontakt

Welcome to the world

This is a sweet (half an hour long) movie on Nina, a girl who lives with her father after her parents divorced. The man seems to be more interested in UFOs than in his daughter. Things go wrong when she wants to go to a party and he doesn't let her. When he and a friend go out to look for a UFO, she steals the car, but her poor driving skills lead her to crash the car, a crash her father mistakes for a UFO landing. (I have only told you the first ten minutes of the plot, so don't fear I spoiled this short.)

Looking at this summary, you might think this is just an ordinary film with some melodramatic moments. Well, it has some melodrama, but some scenes are incredibly funny (take her father's reaction when he thinks a UFO has landed) and most of this movie is quite beautifully shot (especially the scene in the water). It's also nice to see Rebecka Liljeberg (as Nina) in a movie slightly older than the one that would make her known all over the world (well, large sections of the world). The scenes in Närkontakt make Amal look really boring.

Try and see it

I first saw this movie unsubtitled. I found the film was quite easy to follow given my knowledge of Swedish (which leaves a LOT to be desired)

Recently, I saw a subtitled version. It cleared a lot of things up for me.

It's a beautiful film. Rebecka Liljeberg stars as Nina Dalskog, a girl whose divorced father wants to make contact with beings from another world.

Rebecka acts out her part beautifully and it's this role that got her her part in Show Me Love. Samuel Fröler and Lars Dejert also strengthen the film as the only otherr two characters, Rolf and Torsten.

If you can, see this movie. You will only be disappointed by the slight weakness of the plot.

Great!

Nina (Rebecca Liljeberg), 14 years old, lives with her father (Samuel Fröler), a UFO-observer, since her mother left him and ran away with a new boyfriend. Ninas father is very cold, and have serious difficulties with accepting Nina. (Bad description av a great short film) Rebecca Liljeberg and Samuel Fröler's acting is great as always. Anyway, i think this film was great, and i'll give it 8 out 10.
