Alternate versions
Alfredo Bini, who had had experience with his Bora Bora (1968) film, bought the rights to the film from the producers who were frustrated with the box office of Bali, wrote additional scenes for Umberto Orsini and a new character featuring Ilona Staller in Rome, with new director (Paolo Heusch) and cinematographer (Roberto D'Ettorre Piazzoli), and re-edited the film entirely, with several scenes cut to keep the running time circa the 90 minute mark. The film was re-released as Incontro d'amore, only, though some posters show this title superimposed to the earlier Bali title.

BALI, an attractively lensed snoozefest with arty "Africa Addio" airs, was a flop in 1970 but for some unfathomable reason was re-released five years later as INCONTRO D'AMORE with new footage added and it's just as senseless the second time around. The Balinese black magic puts the film in the realm of the fantastic but expecting anything other than ennui is equally unrealistic. Italian porn star and one-time Parliment member Ilona Staller (as Elena Mercury) was edited into the "new and improved" version.
