Japanese soft porn potboiler, badly dubbed

Dubbing with inappropriate U.S. voices really hurts THE ADOLESCENT, dumped in America on the Adult Cinema circuit as soft porn by distributor Olympic International. Well-lensed drama deserves better.

It was directed by Osamu Yamashita, but I've been unable to match it up with his Japanese titles.

Story is about 13-year-old schoolgirl Akemi, who is aghast when she sees her mom making love to a boyfriend. Both mom and daughter reveal attractive stubby nipples for the camera -it runs in the family.

She goes to stay in the country with her aunt, but is raped by a guy on the road there. He turns out to be her cousin's boyfriend, causing plenty of jealousy between the two girls and some artfully shot triangular confrontations.

The melodramatic story line maintains some interest, up until a hokey climax out of left field.

It makes me want to see an original-track version, as well as other '60s dramas by Yamashita, none of which are known in America.
