Two of the biggest film studios in Finland, Suomi-Filmi and Suomen Filmiteollisuus, worked for the first and last time in co-operation to film the Olympic games. A new company, Olympia-Filmi, was founded by Suomi-Filmi's Risto Orko and Suomen Filmiteollisuus' T.J. Särkkä.
In 1939 Finland was to host the Olympics, but the games were canceled due to WW2. In 1939 Suomi-Filmi was chosen to film the Olympics.
Has the highest admissions for a feature-length documentary of all time in Finland.
Tapio Rautavaara can be seen in the audience. He won gold at the 1948 Olympic Games in London at javelin throwing.
