Oscar-nominated filmmaker Raoul Peck blasted the Trump administration at the Joburg Film Festival on Wednesday, insisting that the world is at the mercy of “crazy people” who have put the lives of millions at stake.
“We are in the hands of a bunch of crazy people who have an agenda that was totally written out in Project 2025, the same way that Hitler wrote ‘Mein Kampf,’” Peck said. “All of it was there to read, and everybody thought he was making a joke. Dragon Ball DAIMAhas been an exciting love letter to everything fans adore about Akira Toriyama’s signature franchise. Any new adventure with Goku, Vegeta, and the rest of Dragon Ball’s beloved heroes would be a cause for celebration, but Dragon Ball Daima has become an enlightening experience. The anime has used the cryptic Demon Realm as a conduit to expand the franchise's lore, introduce new concepts, and push characters beyond their limits.
Dragon Ball Daima is sandwiched between Dragon Ball Z’s Buu Saga and the start of Dragon Ball Super, but the characters have experienced some revelatory changes – and transformations – that have silenced any concerns Dragon Ball Daima would be stuck in a state of stasis. As Dragon Ball Daima heads into its final episodes, it’s the perfect time to check in on the anime’s strongest characters – for now.

It's been nearly a year since we first learned of plans for Drew Goddard to write and direct a new Matrix movie. Rumours of a reboot or spin-off have persisted for years (the prequel starring Michael B. Jordan as a young Morpheus never came to fruition) but we've heard very little about this effort since it was announced by Warner Bros. Discovery.
Goddard, best known for writing The Martian and directing The Cabin in the Woods (he also worked on Netflix's Daredevil and the unmade Sinister Six movie for Sony Pictures), will have a helping hand from franchise co-creator Lana Wachowski who has boarded the project as an executive producer.
Yesterday, Will Smith shared a cryptic Instagram post addressing his now-infamous decision to pass on the role of Neo in 1999's The Matrix to instead star in Wild Wild West.

A new report has poured cold water on the speculation that King Richard and Bad Boys: Ride or Die star Will Smith is involved with the next Matrix movie. The actor famously turned down the chance to play the lead character Neo in the original 1999 The Matrix film, with the role eventually going to Keanu Reeves.

It is a widespread belief among fans and critics that actors do not choose roles rather the role chooses the actor. In the history of the film industry, there have been several iconic roles, but Keanu Reeves’ portrayal of Neo in The Matrix will always occupy a special place in popular culture.

A role that not only propelled him to the forefront of Hollywood but also made him famous across the world, today, it is hard to imagine anyone else as the titular character. However, he recently teased starring in such a film, sending shockwaves across The Matrix fandom.

Will Smith took to social today and made everyone think he’s starring in the next Matrix movie in development at Warner Bros.
“In 1997, the Wachowskis offered Will Smith the role of Neo in The Matrix. Smith turned it down. He chose Wild Wild West, believing it was a better fit for him at the time. But the question remains: What would The Matrix have been like with Will Smith as Neo?”

Will Smith may be choosing between the red and blue pill, but the Oscar-winning actor isn’t entering the Matrix for a movie.

Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Ball has resonated with several generations of audiences for over four decades. There’s still endless enthusiasm for Goku’s heroic adventures, inspirational training, and the breakthroughs that are experienced in battle that help characters achieve unprecedented power. All these factors resonate with Dragon Ball fans, but a series is often only as strong as its villains. Dragon Ball is fortunate enough to have some of the most memorable antagonists to ever appear in the shonen genre.
These villains are powerful and truly evil, but there are often personal stakes in play that make Goku particularly invested in their destruction. In fact, Dragon Ball creates some significant showdowns between Goku and his enemies because so many of them echo aspects of himself and operate as dark reflections. As a character, Buffy the Vampire Slayer had few adversaries more complicated than fellow vampire slayer, Faith. When she joined the show's third season, Faith changed Buffy's story forever. Positioned as Buffy's evil-natured antithesis, Faith opposed Buffy during Seasons 3 and 4 and then, after a guest spot on Angel, was ready to turn over a new leaf, atoning for her sins.
In the comic book series Buffy and Faith Season 10, Faith attempts to atone for sins she committed in Buffy the Vampire Slayer's fourth season episode, "Who Are You?" In this episode, Buffy and Faith swap bodies, and in an oft-forgotten moment, Faith sleeps with Buffy's boyfriend, Riley Finn, with the special ops specialist completely unaware of Faith's deception.
The television show never quite delves into that moment, but in the Angel and Faith Season 10 comics, the Vampire Slayer is finally redeemed in ways that the show couldn't do for her.

Dragon Ball Z has a more heightened style of storytelling and combat that introduces some of the franchise’s most loved staples, like Super Saiyan transformations, fusions, and multiple sets of Dragon Balls. Dragon Ball Daima, which is set between the events of Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Super, tells an exciting new story that transforms the heroes into children and sends them to the mysterious Demon Realm in order to solve this mess. Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, and their new Majin friends — Glorio and Panzy — fearlessly forge ahead on their mission to collect the Demon Realm Dragon Balls.
Unfortunately, there’s some intimidating opposition who also have their eyes on the Dragon Balls. Dr. Arinsu, a powerful Majin scientist, creates Majin Duu to help secure these treasures and become the Supreme Demon King. Majin Duu is significantly stronger than Majin Kuu, which has led to a phenomenal fight between Dr.

There’s a lot of shared DNA between Dragon Ball Daima and the more contentious Dragon Ball Gt, whether it’s their lighter, sillier tones or how they both transform Goku back into a child. Daima has introduced several new threats, one of the most compelling being newcomer is Majin Duu – Dr. Arinsu’s second sinister creation following Majin Kuu’s lackluster performance against Tamagami Number One. Daima has been a little cagey when it comes to the exact power level of its cast.
Tamagami Number Three, the weakest of the trio, is said to be at least as strong as Dabura and Perfect Cell. This would indicate that Tamagami Number One’s strength is somewhere around the power of Super Buu or Kid Buu. This would indicate that Tamagami Number One’s strength is somewhere around the power of Super Buu or Kid Buu. It’s Christmas Eve in Port Charles, and the December 23, 2024 episode of General Hospital was full of shocking returns.
Just The Girl He’s Looking For
While enjoying the festivities in Rice Plaza, Gio (Giovanni Mazza) was approached by an unfamiliar girl who called him Doug and asked him to hold a wallet before hurrying off. He was left baffled until he overheard a man reporting that he was pick-pocketed. When Gio spotted the girl again, he confronted her about the stolen wallet and she revealed she only did it because she saw him rip off a vendor.
She stolen some cash from the wallet before turning it over to a cop while Gio ran into Kristina (Kate Mansi) and Sonny (Maurice Benard). He admitted he’d gotten distracted by her, but when he turned back her way she was gone… and on her way to Maxie’s (Kirsten Storms...

Dragon Ball is an anime thats largely situated on Earth, but this hasnt stopped the franchise from featuring a wide range of alien outsiders both friends and foes alike. There are dozens of unique extraterrestrials that Dragon Ball expands upon, but few are as prominent as the warrior race of Saiyans. Saiyans dont get formally introduced until Dragon Ball Z, but they quickly take over the narrative and become the animes most popular and important characters.
In fact, its become increasingly difficult for non-Saiyan characters to keep up with the Saiyans growing milestones and totemic transformations. Saiyans are special in the sense that their species thrives on combat, and they even receive massive power boosts when theyre pushed to the brink of death. Though it’s something of a backhanded paean to its eponymous city in question, the most enjoyable element to “Lost & Found in Cleveland” is its locations, locations, locations — cinematographer Davon Slininger’s widescreen images provide an appealing selective tour of a burg the film presents as quaintly lagging well behind the times. Otherwise, this slick if uninspired first feature for actors turned writer-directors Marisa Guterman and Keith Gerchak offers a pleasant-enough ensemble seriocomedy that straddles the terrains of Richard Curtis and Christopher Guest, without approaching either’s high points. The Newport Beach Fest world premiere’s familiar faces and story beats seem best suited to home viewing.
An opening montage to the retro pop of Bobby Darin singing “Artificial Flowers” — an incongruously brassy, “Mack the Knife”-like arrangement of a depressing slum-tragedy lyric from 1960 Broadway musical “Tenderloin” — introduces the characters, as well as a sense that this midwestern metropolis’ growth stalled some decades ago.

Exclusive: After a successful summer with Bad Boys: Ride or Die, Alexander Ludwig has been tapped to star alongside Dafne Keen and Samantha Lorraine in Night Comes, the forthcoming horror thriller marking the feature directorial debut of veteran actor Jay Hernandez (Suicide Squad).
Details as to Ludwig’s role are being kept under wraps. Drawing inspiration from films like Birdbox and The Descent, Night Comes unfolds against the backdrop of a cataclysmic event that threatens to engulf humanity. Two sisters manage to escape the horror only to find themselves thrust into a perilous struggle for survival, tasked with a mission that holds the fate of mankind in the balance.
Written by Hernandez, Jason Bourque and Nancy Isaak, the indie hails from Impossible Dream Entertainment and Big Picture Cinema Group, the latter of which is co-financing with Versatile Media. Impossible Dream’s Shaun Redick and Yvette Yates Redick will produce alongside Big Picture Cinema Group’s Jayce Barriero and Jacky Lai, with Hernandez, Keen, Jared Zhang, Graem Luis, Jason Bourque, Joseph Tuck, Steve Read and Matthew Chow exec producing.
Production kicks off in Vancouver in September. The Exchange is handling worldwide sales and will be introducing the project to buyers at the upcoming Toronto Film Festival.
Stated Big Picture’s Co-Founder and President, Barreiro, “Alexander has so much range and gravitas – it’s going to be fun for audiences to see the depths he goes to opposite Dafne and Samantha on this intense ride.”
As previously mentioned, Ludwig is coming off of Bad Boys: Ride or Die, the fourth installment of the buddy cop action franchise from Sony, starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence. In it, he reprised his role as Dorn, tech expert for Advanced Miami Metro Operations, which he originated in 2020’s Bad Boys for Life. One of the summer’s big hits, the film grossed over $401 million worldwide.
In film, Ludwig’s other credits include Guy Ritchie’s The Covenant, The Hunger Games and Lone Survivor, to name just a few. Also known for roles in Starz’s wrestling drama Heels and History Channel’s Vikings, the actor is represented by Gersh and Untitled Entertainment.

Over the past 20 years or so, a surfeit of arthouse titles and an older demographic turning away from theaters have worn away at the sales of non-English language films.
Currently, cinema across the world, and especially arthouse, is stuck between a rock — global streamers often paying less, striking fewer worldwide deals and buying fewer finished movies — and a hard place: a pandemic-drained theatrical business for all but a few tentpoles.
“A few years ago, even if a film wasn’t perfect and had limited festival play, it sold at least a little,” says Film Factory founder Vicente Canales. “Now, either a film works, and sells pretty much the world, or it doesn’t work at all.”
Yet Spain’s top sales agents remain broadly optimistic about the future.
