The premise of this matches the S1 E5 "The Big Cast" of Dragnet which aired 02/14/1952. The suspect, played by Lee Marvin, confesses to a murder with the same circumstances as Hugo Weaving's story. In the episode, the suspect is arrested in the morning and fought with the police, reminiscent of Weaving's rough arrest. Throughout the episode, meals also played an important part.

Crazy credits
At the beginning of the New Yorker Video DVD, right before the main menu appears, a quote of Eddie Fleming fills the screen: "Just goes to show you how the mind works." At the very end, after the credits roll, a quote of Det. Steele fills the screen: "I don't know Mr. Fleming, how does the mind work?" But if you run the end credits a second time a different quote appears at the end, this time from Det. Prior: "It's about a fucking stolen fucking car you fucking fuckwit."

An Aussie Classic!

While the supporting cast is excellent, make no mistake: this is Hugo Weaving's film. He constantly keeps the audience guessing and easily changes his role from the victim to the villain by the tweaking of his facial features.

Hugo is starting to make waves in the international scene, and hopefully, if there's any justice he will a win similar success that Russell Crowe and Guy Pearce are enjoying. Roles in the Matrix (and now Lord Of The Rings) trilogy are winning him notice.

This film is recommended for those don't think any movie made in Australia (by Australians) can be worth watching. A very intelligent film that demands your attention and holds your intrigue until the very last shot.
