Exclusive: A new holiday film is reuniting 90s big screen lovebirds Rachael Leigh Cook (Josie and the Pussycats) and Freddie Prinze Jr. (I Know What You Did Last Summer), more than two decades after starring alongside one another in She’s All That.

The duo will also reunite with Jennifer Gibgot, co-producer of She’s All That, who will produce on the Fox Entertainment Studios project The Christmas Affair, which is currently in development.

The Christmas Affair follows superstar sportscasters Natalie (Cook) and Gabe (Prinze Jr.), who form an unlikely alliance after their spouses are caught cheating weeks before Christmas. As holiday chaos and media attention mount, they begin to fall for each other. But is this just a rebound…or the start of a real Christmas romance?

Exclusive: Mainstay Entertainment has signed Rachael Leigh Cook for representation in all areas.

Cook can currently be seen in Hallmark’s family holiday feature film Rescuing Christmas. The project was developed and produced under Cook’s development deal with Marvista. In addition, Cook also stars and produces the Netflix film A Tourist’s Guide to Love. Prior that, Cook was seen in the film Spirit Halloween, opposite Christopher Lloyd. In 2021, Cook starred in Netflix’s He’s All That, a gender-swapped remake of her 1999 hit romantic comedy, that she starred in. In 2020, Cook pitched, produced, and starred in the Netflix film Love Guaranteed opposite Damon Wayans Jr. and Heather Graham. The film premiered on the streaming platform at #1.

Imagine Dragons performed an acoustic set at the WGA picket line in Los Angeles on Tuesday in support of striking writers. Frontman Dan Reynolds and guitarist Daniel Wayne Sermon played their Grammy-winning song “Radioactive” and “Whatever It Takes.”

As Reynolds sang from a metal park bench in front of the Netflix building, the crowd holding “Writers Guild of America on Strike!” signs sang along to the stripped-down hits.

Exclusive: Rachael Leigh Cook, star of ‘90s movies including She’s All That, has signed a wide-ranging deal with Fox’s Marvista Entertainment.

The pact will see Cook develop, produce and act in a number of projects including a holiday film and There She Goes (w/t), a feature loosely based on her real-life experiences.

It comes as Cook is starring in Netflix’s A Tourist’s Guide to Love, which launches this month.

The deal is one of the highest profile partnerships unveiled by Marvista Entertainment since it was acquired by Fox Entertainment in December 2021.

Leigh Cook will develop and produce several projects across genres over the next few years via her production company Ben’s Sister Productions. She will work in front of and behind the camera.

The deal was shepherded by Hannah Pillemer, EVP, Creative Affairs, MarVista Entertainment.

The stage roots of “Stand!” go back further than Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Broadway smash: It’s been 15 years since it first hit Canadian stages under the title “Strike!,” and the eventual film adaptation has the air of a patient, resourceful labor of love, while also showing why the material wasn’t more immediately rushed before cameras. Earnest and plainly felt, this grafting of a cross-cultural romance onto the story of a critical turning point in Canadian workers’ rights doesn’t want for incident and emotional commitment, but Robert Adetuyi’s film does fall a little short on showmanship.

The book is a historical novel set in 1920’s London which combines actual events and characters with a fictional mystery at its center. It is based on the real-life character of Hilda Matheson, an MI5 agent during WWI who became an influential producer in the early days of BBC Radio. The story is told through the eyes of a young Canadian woman, who falls into a job at the BBC where she gets caught up in the conflict between Matheson and her more conservative male superior. Along the way she unearths a conspiratorial plot with enormous consequences and potential danger to herself, the institution she works for and the whole of the European continent. The book was published in the UK, North America and Germany in 2016.

Las Vegas Sands has announced nine-time Grammy award winner and American music icon Sheryl Crow will headline the 2020 Sands Cares Inspire charity concert benefiting members of its Sands Cares Accelerator on May 28 at The Venetian Resort Las Vegas.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Pacific, Friday, February 21.

The show is part of Crow’s summer concert tour and raises critical funds for Sands Cares Accelerator members Green Our Planet (GoP) and Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth (Nphy). Sands will donate all ticket sales from Inspire to the nonprofit organizations as an integral component of the Accelerator’s mission to enable local community service providers to expand their reach, improve their programs and better serve the community as part of their three-year membership in the program.

It’s no surprise that there have been a glut of high-profile music releases crowding into the tail end of August. Since August 23 alone we’ve seen new albums from Missy Elliott (“Iconology”), Taylor Swift (“Lover”), Raphael Saadiq (“Jimmy Lee”) and Tanya Tucker (“While I’m Livin'”), to name a few. That may be due in no small part to the new Grammy eligibility deadline, August 31. So on Friday, August 30, we got another batch of big names dropping their latest collections just in the nick of time.

The most acclaimed of those may be Tool, whose “Fear Inoculum” has a MetaCritic score of 89 as of this writing, making it one of the highest rated albums of 2019. It’s the metal group’s first album in 13 years following their platinum-selling “10,000 Days” in 2006. There have been numerous delays since then, but critics are saying it was “worth the wait” and “lives up to its daunting expectations.

Sheryl Crow has been a Grammy darling over the years, winning nine awards including Best New Artist and Record of the Year (“All I Wanna Do”) in 1995. But she has only been nominated once for Album of the Year: “The Globe Sessions” (1999). That was her third studio album. Can she now return to the Grammy lineup with her upcoming 11th album, “Threads”? It may be the recording academy’s last chance to give her the top prize.
