What Matters Most to Cane on Young and the Restless: Success or Family?
Image
This is the question on Lily’s mind lately. She doesn’t know whether to trust Cane or slap him. He wants her to give him a second chance. However, she’s unsure whether he will follow through on his word on The Young and the Restless.

Train Ride From Hell

Cane (Billy Flynn) brought the train that caused chaos in Nice. Lily (Christel Khalil) joined aboard to speak to him about their kids. It makes sense for him to spill all to them about what happened. Cane agreed to Lily’s terms. But he’s only sharing his plans in Genoa City if she speaks to their kids with him.

Read This: What will happen next on Y&r?

Lily agreed to do that, but she’s not sure what or who he’s after next. Lily accused him of hiding something. She also brought up Colin’s (Tristan Rogers) influence on Cane.

Katsuhiro Ôtomo
After over 20 years of development, Warner Bros. has let go of the rights to Akira
Katsuhiro Ôtomo
Warner Bros. has been trying to develop a live-action adaptation of Katsuhiro Otomo’s Akira for over twenty years, but THR reports that the studio has given up the movie rights. The studios spent millions (well into the eight figures) on the project over the years, but it’s all come to an end. The rights have now reverted to Kodansha, the manga publisher that first released the cyberpunk story. The report states that a variety of producers and talent are already preparing to pitch their take on the project.

Warner Bros. first picked up the rights to Akira in 2002 and signed Stephen Norrington (Blade) to direct. But as we know, things went nowhere fast. A revolving door of writers and directors followed, including Albert and Allen Hughes (From Hell), Garry Whitta (Rogue One), Jaume Collet-Serra (Carry On), and more. The project was followed by accusations of whitewashing throughout, as...

If You Think Watchmen Is Alan Moore's Best Work, 1 Horror Icon Says You're Totally Wrong
Image
Alan Moore’s epic Watchmen series is often cited as the best superhero comic book of all time, but according to horror author Joe Hill, another one of Moore’s classic graphic novels deserves to be lauded as the author’s masterpiece: From Hell, the surreal Jack the Ripper story that truly pushes the limit of the comic medium.

Men’s Health recently collected comic recommendations from nearly fifty authors and artists, and naturally Alan Moore’s work comes up multiple times on the list, but Hill’s declaration that From Hell is Moore’s best work stands out from the rest.

“If the graphic novel form has a Ulysses, this is it,” Hill wrote, drawing a comparison between Moore’s sprawling exploration of the Jack the Ripper mystery and the James Joyce novel which is often ranked at the top of lists of the best novels of the 20th century.

Constantine (2005) – What Happened to This Horror Movie?
Image
You know what sounds like a hard sell to a Hollywood studio? A chain smoking antihero with a bad attitude and terminal lung cancer whom God himself doesn’t like. Dipping in and out of actual Hell. Where, by the way, Satan can’t wait to torture him for eternity. Oh, and it’s a large-ish budget superhero movie based on a DC/Vertigo comic. It’s a road that would include lawsuits, a music video director, a comic book creator who would rather leave free money on the table than be involved, and the MPAA gumming up the works. But where there’s a Keanu Reeves….there’s a way. This is what happened to Constantine.

The origins of Constantine began in June of 1986 when famed comic creator Alan Moore introduced him in The Saga of Swamp Thing #37. The occult investigator from England was on the hunt for information...

‘Blood, Sweat, Tears… and More Blood’ Documents the Making of Indie Horror-Comedy ‘Cannibal Comedian’ [Trailer]
Image
Screambox Exclusive Cannibal Comedian has spent 10 consecutive weeks on the Bloody Disgusting-powered streaming service’s Top 10 list and is available on Blu-ray and VHS from Scream Team Releasing.

Now, pull back the flesh—er, curtain—on the indie horror-comedy with the trailer and poster for Blood, Sweat, Tears… and More Blood: The Making of Cannibal Comedian.

Directed and produced by Sean Haitz (Cannibal Comedian) and Ryan James (Chasing Chasing Amy) and edited by Dan Ballester, the feature-length documentary chronicles the brutal and often hilarious journey of a skeleton crew that ventured into the desert to make their dream project just weeks before the global pandemic forced them to rethink the entire production.

Fittingly, art imitates life as the doc mirrors the spirit of Cannibal Comedian — the story of a psychopathic cannibal who is fed up with his lack of ambition and takes a stab at stand-up comedy in an attempt...

This Overlooked Batman Animated Movie Pitted Him Against Jack The Ripper
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

Where Marvel Comics has "What If...?", DC Comics has Elseworlds, which takes DC heroes and reimagines them in different time periods, different genres, etc. In Elseworlds, the Justice League can become cowboys, Superman can be raised in the Soviet Union, and Batman can fight Dracula.

Elseworlds goes back to 1989 and kicked off with "Batman: Gotham By Gaslight." Written by Brian Augustyn and drawn by Mike Mignola, "Gotham By Gaslight" throws the Dark Knight back 100 years, revealing what would happen if Bruce Wayne was Batman in the 1880s. Among other things, it turns out, he'd battle Jack the Ripper rather than Jack Napier.

The comic opens with a letter titled "From Hell," which was authored for the book by Robert Bloch and named for the letter the real Jack the Ripper sent to the chairman of the Whitechapel Vigilance Committee. This...

An Overlooked 2018 Prehistoric Survival Movie Is Climbing Netflix's Top Charts
Image
Netflix's weekly Top 10 lists are always worth a look, not least of all because they often reveal truly unexpected gems that the streaming platform has managed to resurrect. For example, FlixPatrol is reporting that "Alpha" (a film that was absolutely overlooked upon its initial release) made it onto Netflix's Top 10 in multiple countries on April 6, 2025, and has continued to chart in much of the world in the week since then.

Directed and co-written by Albert Hughes, "Alpha" is a 2018 survival adventure in which an injured Ice Age-era young man is separated from his tribe and has to team up with a similarly inconvenienced wolf to stay alive. Starring Kodi Smit-McPhee and Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson, the movie is an entertaining and exciting adventure in a relatively uncommon live-action setting. As such, it's good to see that streaming has given this largely forgotten film a new chance to find its audience.

Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson Hunt Jack the Ripper in This Great Thriller
Image
Quick Links'Murder by Decree' Links Jack the Ripper to the British Royal FamilyJames Mason Is a Splendid Dr. Watson in 'Murder by Decree''Murder by Decree' Is From the Director of 'Black Christmas' and 'Porky's'

The famous detective duo of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson was introduced in the 1887 Arthur Conan Doyle detective novel A Study in Scarlet. The characters were later widely popularized through a series of films starring Basil Rathbone as Holmes, beginning with the 1939 Gothic mystery film The Hound of the Baskervilles, in which Rathbone’s Holmes is introduced as a dry-humored, obsessive follower of logic and reason, while Watson, played by Nigel Bruce, appears as Holmes’ lovable but often clueless assistant.

One of the first and best films to abandon this formula is the 1979 mystery thriller filmMurder by Decree, in which Holmes, played by Christopher Plummer, and Watson, played by James Mason, are approached to...

‘My Fault London’ Movie Cast And Character Guide
Image
Directed by Dani Girdwood and Charlotte Fassler, Prime Video’s romantic thriller film, My Fault: London is the remake of the Spanish drama, Culpa Mía, which is based on the novel series. The idea of the romantic drama germinated as a Wattpad story. With complicated characters populating the tight plot, My Fault: London is expected to grab enough attention over 2025 Valentine’s week.

Asha Banks as Noah

Young, impulsive, and unpredictable—these three words accurately capture Noah’s energy in My Fault: London. Noah’s character is brought to life by the 21-year-old English actress, Asha Alice Banks. After a successful tryst with the English stage since her early childhood, Asha’s foray into films occurred with the German musical film The Magic Flute, directed by Florian Sigl. Banks is also a known face on television among the English audience, with her brief appearances in EastEnders and Call the Midwife.

Tokio Hotel Singer Bill Kaulitz Lands Film Debut In Marcel Walz’s Indie Horror ‘Brute 1986’
Image
Exclusive: Bill Kaulitz has swapped the concert stage for the big screen by landing his first film role.

The Tokio Hotel frontman, whose band is among Germany’s most successful music acts, has landed a role in Brute 1986, an indie pic inspired by 1980s slasher movies.

In the film, Leather Kobra, a Sunset Strip-style glam metal band films a music video in an abandoned Western town in the middle of nowhere. Ignoring ‘no trespassing’ signs, the rebellious group have no idea they are being watched by the Birdy family, who will meet them with a “level of brutality that is as vicious as it is creative,” according to producers.

Starring alongside Kaulitz are Gigi Gustin (Stiletto), Sarah French (Blind), Pancho Moler (3 From Hell), Lew Temple (The Devil’s Rejects), Heather Grace Hancock (Wicked City) and Dazelle Yvette (Garden of Eden).

20 Years Ago, A Forgotten Robert De Niro Horror Movie Was A Huge Box Office Hit
Image
(Welcome to Tales from the Box Office, our column that examines box office miracles, disasters, and everything in between, as well as what we can learn from them.)

Horror movies may not often get a whole lot of respect, critically speaking. For whatever reason, they are often treated as a lesser form of entertainment. It's only the rarest of rare genre offerings that can go on to become embraced both critically and commercially, with Jordan Peele's "Get Out" serving as a shining example from relatively recent times. That's an outlier though. One undeniable truth though is that these movies are a reliable backbone for Hollywood studios, delivering consistent profits against relatively low investments. Good movies, bad movies, it often doesn't matter.

Hardcore horror fans will tell you that the number of bad movies far outweighs the good in any given year. It's about searching for that diamond in the rough.

Review: Bob Clark’s ‘Murder by Decree’ on Kino Lorber 4K Uhd Blu-ray
Image
Bob Clark made a name for himself in the early 1970s with a trio of low-budget horror films that soon attained cult status: Children Shouldn’t Play with Dead Things, the rough-hewn tale of a group of actors contending with zombies on an abandoned island; Deathdream, a scathing Vietnam-era twist on “The Monkey’s Paw”; and Black Christmas, a blackly humorous proto-slasher flick. Enticed by a larger, though still modest, budget and a sterling cast of British and Canadian actors, Clark relocated to England to produce and direct Murder by Decree, an alternate-history period piece dripping with atmosphere that puts Sherlock Holmes (Christopher Plummer) and Dr. Watson (James Mason) on the trail of the notorious serial killer known as Jack the Ripper.

The film cleverly indicates one of its key themes in its opening scenes by cross-cutting between two very different locations. Each of these scenes contains a startling juxtaposition between...

Why Watchmen Creator Alan Moore Hates The 'Graphic Novel' Label
Image
2024 saw DC Comics yet again trot out "Watchmen," this time as a two-part animated film. First debuting in 1986, "Watchmen" is the beloved superhero murder mystery comic created by writer Alan Moore (who infamously has no interest in any "Watchmen" adaptations) and artist Dave Gibbons. It's also the one superhero comic that it's broadly acceptable for literary critics to enjoy -- so much so it spawned a new term for the comic medium: "graphic novel."

The term goes back a bit further, such as the Marvel Graphic Novel line (begun in 1982). These longer (and more expensive) than usual comic issues told a standalone story. They also tended to be darker than contemporary Marvel comics. Take the "X2" inspiration "X-Men: God Loves, Man Kills" (by Chris Claremont and Brent Anderson) where the X-Men battled a televangelist and religious bigotry, and "The Death of Captain Marvel" (by Jim Starlin), where the cosmic hero succumbed to cancer.

"For The First Time In My Career, I’m Genuinely Excited": Watchmen Author Alan Moore’s Fantasy Novel Getting TV Adaptation
Image
A fantasy novel by Alan Moore is getting a television adaptation. An influential author, known for his seminal comic book work, Moore is behind titles such as Watchmen, V for Vendetta, Batman: The Killing Joke, From Hell, and Swamp Thing. However, he has a reputation for holding oppositional views of adaptations, including his own, and has argued that he aims to illuminate what comic books are capable of as a storytelling medium rather than translating it into a different format. But he is significantly more positive about an adaptation that's just been announced.

Deadline confirms that The Great When, a new fantasy novel by Moore, is getting a TV adaptation. The production company Playground landed the rights to The Great When, a fantasy graphic novel that was published by Bloomsbury on October 1. It's the first in Moore’s planned five-volume Long London series of epic fantasy novels, which Playground plans...

Colin Callender’s Playground Nabs Alan Moore’s Fantasy Book ‘The Great When’ As Part Of Genre Expansion & Shift To Multi-Season Series
Image
Exclusive: “For the first time in my career, I’m genuinely excited and enthusiastic about a work of mine…one that I own, and believe could work marvelously in a different medium…being adapted for the screen,” Watchmen author Alan Moore says in a rare quote about his new fantasy novel, The Great When, getting a TV adaptation. In a competitive bidding situation, Colin Callender’s production company Playground has landed the rights to the book by the famous graphic novelist, which was published Oct. 1 by Bloomsbury. The Great When is the first in Moore’s planned five-volume Long London series of epic fantasy novels that Playground plans to adapt into a tentpole, multi-season event series.

It is part of the company’s pivot from its early focus on TV movies and miniseries based on big IP like Wolf Hall and King Lear, designed to attract big stars like Anthony Hopkins and Mark Rylance,...

Image
"The year is 2188 and Jack the Ripper has returned to London." Published by Dark Horse Comics and heading to comic book shops on January 22nd is Ripperland, from writers Steve Orlando and John Harris, who joined us for our latest Q&a. From initial concept to working with Alessandro Oliveri, we discuss everything about the making of this new series, which they describe as "From Hell meets Westworld."

How did your collaboration on Ripperland come about, and what was the inspiration for the series?

Steve Orlando: It all started with coffee on the high line, at New York Comic Con some years back! John had already put out some kick ass books in the UK, and wondered what we might write together for an American publisher. I challenged John with a few parameters for what I thought might catch on, and before I knew it, we were developing Ripperland. We...

10 Scariest Movies Based on Comic Books, Ranked
Image
Since the success of Richard Donner's Superman, Hollywood has increasingly turned to comic books for entertainment, climaxing with the rise of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While these movies typically focus on action, science fiction, and fantasy, there are plenty of great horror movies based on anything from superheroes to monsters. That said, a movie doesn't need to be horror to be scary, and many comic adaptations have looked to themes of dystopia and mystery to be scary.

Although not every great comic book movie is necessarily faithful to its source material, talented directors from all backgrounds have shown they can make a good story work. Writers and directors can play on a variety of fears, both grounded and fantastical, from creatures of the night to crime and fascism. While not every movie that strives to be scary succeeds, some are a masterclass in terror.

Disney+ started early, with the September premiere of “Agatha All Along,” which will air new episodes for the next several weeks. In October, the streamer will debut “Wizards Beyond Waverly Place,” an expansion of the popular Disney Channel series “Wizards of Waverly Place” which aired from 2007 to 2012.

And of course Hulu has “Huluween,” a celebration of the scariest titles either premiering on the streamer for the first time or simply highlighted from its existing library. That includes films like “Late Night with the Devil,” the series “Reginald the Vampire,” FX’s “American Horror Stories”, a Halloween specials from “Family Guy” and “Solar Opposites,” a docuseries on witch hunting, and much more.

Top Pick: “What We Do in the Shadows...

Mindhunters (2004) – What Happened to This Movie?
Image
It’s not often I’d be talking about Agatha Christie, Renny Harlin, Val Kimer and LL Cool J in the same breath, but thanks to the world of Tinseltown magic, here we are! And, before you’re mis-led into thinking this video is about the great Netflix show of the same name, let me just set the record straight. This ain’t that one folks. Nope, the movie we’re focusing on today somehow manages to blend the classic British literary world of Agatha Christie with LL Cool J spitting out lines like. That’s right gore-hounds, twenty years ago director Renny Harlin was best known for action classics, pirate movies, dangling Sylvester Stallone from great heights and giant sharks; way before the likes of The Meg and more recently, Under Paris. Then, an intriguing project came his way that would blend the worlds of Agatha Christie and gangster rappers,...

Mirrors (2008) Revisited – Horror Movie Review
Image
Before rewatching Mirrors (get it Here), I was a little confused as to why it’s either forgotten or, honestly, kind of hated on. It was one of those movies that I saw in theaters when it came out and then have clear memories of when it came to my Blockbuster for rent. It’s got a fun cast of reliables and was directed by one of the early 2000s freshest and goriest directors. The director has gone on to have a steady and varied career and his new movie starring Halle Berry called Never Let Go sounds as intriguing as ever. After watching Mirrors again, I still really enjoyed it, but I now understand why it has the reputation it has and why it’s perfect for a black sheep. Let’s take a look but maybe be wary of any mirrors that don’t look exactly right.

When...

Netflix Completely Wasted One Episode of Unsolved Mysteries
Image
Fans of Unsolved Mysteries are divided on the Netflix revival, particularly the focus on Jack the Ripper's case, which lacks interviews with key players. Viewers wanted more current mysteries explored, like the disappearances of Brian Shaffer and Maura Murray, which offer potential for resolution. The latest season has sparked debate over the value of rehashing old cases versus highlighting cases with a chance of being solved.

Since being resurrected by Netflix, Unsolved Mysteries has gained more fans who are obsessed with true crime and unsolved cases. It's the DNA that made the original show with host Robert Stack such a hit because its viewers would, in equal parts, frighten themselves and think they could help solve one of the mysteries at the center of each episode. Fans have been nitpicky about the Netflix version, particularly the show doing away with narration, something the late Stack added to the original...

The film also stars Lauren Lavera (Terrifier 2), Samantha Scaffidi, Elliott Fullam (Terrifier 2), Daniel Roebuck, Antonella Rose ("Fear the Walking Dead...

DC's New Watchmen Movies Can Pull Off 1 Thing The 2009 Zack Snyder Film Couldn't
Image
The new two-part animated Watchmen adaptation can offer a more faithful retelling from the comic than Zack Snyder's film. The movies can include content from the comics cut from the theatrical version, like the Black Freighter cutaways. DC's filmmakers have the opportunity to rectify missing components from Snyder's movie and deliver a more accurate adaptation.

Watchmen is receiving a new adaptation from DC as a two-part animated movie. Warner Bros. recently shared the first look at the new Watchmen movies, which promise to delve into Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons' graphic novel in a way that has not yet been possible. With a rich legacy of un-filmable comic book adaptations behind it, DC animation has the opportunity to pull from the existing Watchmen adaptations while creating something new and true to the spirit of the original graphic novel.

Moore has always distanced himself from adaptations of his work,...

3 from Hell (2019) Revisited – Horror Party Movies
Image
When it comes to making movies for himself, no one does it better than Rob Zombie. Love his films or not, there is a recognition to be had about his style. With his trademark blend of horror, dark humor, and trashy dialogue, Zombie creates a repulsive and fascinating world. After bursting out the music scene with White Zombie and eventually having a very successful solo career, Zombie ventured out and put his money where his mouth was by making his first feature film. House of 1000 Corpses first introduced the world to the Firefly clan and continued a couple of years later with the grittier and character-driven The Devil’s Rejects. While that film ends rather violently, fans have wondered if he would ever return to that world. But that would be impossible right? Fourteen years later, Rob Zombie finally showed us how the Firefly family could return after a pretty solidifying end.

Kerry King’s ‘From Hell I Rise’: Meet the New Slayer, Same as the Old Slayer
Image
The first solo album from former Slayer guitarist Kerry King is basically the “Still D.R.E.” of thrash metal.

But where Dr. Dre wanted to remind his fans that he was still puffin’ his leafs, still fucking with beats, and still not lovin’ police after close to a decade’s absence, King wants his fans to understand that even though Slayer are essentially hellbound, he’s still Satan’s preeminent ambassador with furious, jagged riffs and sweet nothings like “Crucifixation” and “Everything I Hate About You.” On From Hell I Rise,...

The Best British Crime Movies of the 2000s, Ranked
Image
Often they're violent and bombastic, but also understated in their depth, Britain has a penchant for making enticing films in the crime genre. From the snappy and rhythmic narrative style of Guy Ritchie with his intricate narrative webs of colorful characters, to smaller stories of one senior against the criminals infecting the public housing system, the variety is endless.

British crime films not only set themselves in the present either, but sometimes the perspectives of law enforcement or unlikely detectives come into play. Stories of identical twin gangsters that are stranger than fiction and new drugs that are an insane caper to chase down just scratch the surface the the kind of fun this niche genre provides. Which ones hit hard? Which is a great laugh juxtaposed with squirm-worthy violence?

Finding Faith and Violence in ‘The Book of Eli’ 14 Years Later
Image
Having grown up in a religious family, Christian movie night was something that happened a lot more often than I care to admit. However, back when I was a teenager, my parents showed up one night with an unusually cool-looking DVD of a movie that had been recommended to them by a church leader. Curious to see what new kind of evangelical propaganda my parents had rented this time, I proceeded to watch the film with them expecting a heavy-handed snoozefest.

To my surprise, I was a few minutes in when Denzel Washington proceeded to dismember a band of cannibal raiders when I realized that this was in fact a real movie. My mom was horrified by the flick’s extreme violence and dark subject matter, but I instantly became a fan of the Hughes Brothers’ faith-based 2010 thriller, The Book of Eli. And with the film’s atomic apocalypse having...

Horror Highlights: The Alien Report, Fallout, Screambox, Cara
Image
The Alien Report: "The Alien Report follows "The Abductee" (Braxton Hale), an everyday American who finds himself hijacked by extraterrestrial beings and taken on a terrifying journey of self-preservation, running afoul of classic "grey aliens", disturbing human-et hybrids, and the U.S. government's shady Men in Black. Based on countless documented reports made by self-proclaimed abductees, The Alien Report is a meticulous, straight-faced look at what an real-life alien abduction would be like, from the perspective of first-person cameras.

The Alien Report has screened at festivals worldwide, winning awards in the U.S., UK, Australia, and Brazil. Shot on iPhone and GoPro cameras as a non-traditional narrative composed of re-assembled found footage, the picture plays out as both a sci-fi thriller and first-person documentary. It is the intended first chapter in a trilogy of films about extraterrestrial abductions.

The Alien Report was directed by Patrick Donnelly and produced by Kevin Schroeder and Michael Sell.

It’s April and we’re bringing even more fun to Screambox, with new films including Stuart Gordon’s King of the Ants, the Lebanese found-footage horror What Is Buried Must Remain, and bonkers B-movie Abraham Lincoln vs. Zombies.

What Is Buried Must Remain haunts Screambox on April 12. A modern ghost story with ancient roots, the timely Lebanese found-footage hybrid finds young filmmakers confronted by supernatural forces engaged in a war for the very soul of the land.

Rise of the Zombies also takes a bite out of Screambox on April 12. Its all-star cast includes Mariel Hemingway (Manhattan), Ethan Suplee (Mallrats), LeVar Burton (“Star Trek: The Next Generation”), Danny Trejo (From Dusk Till Dawn), and French Stewart...

From Hell (2001) – Wtf Happened to This Adaptation?
Image
While the Marvel Universe continues to chug along and James Gunn attempts to resuscitate the DC universe into something worth watching, we will yet again go back to the world of graphic novels for our inspiration on book vs movie. It’s really a very untapped realm as there are so many good horror comics out there, many without adaptations yet. The ones that have been adapted are very fun and interesting. Today is the mostly forgotten early 2000s movie From Hell (watch it Here), which is based on the stunning and epic graphic novel from famed wizard and all-around cranky dude Alan Moore. Like many graphic novels, the journey to page and then screen was a long and arduous one. It is based on the very real killings in Whitechapel that were later attributed to Jack the Ripper. While both have a lot of truths to them along with...
