There are certain Power Rangersseasons that, since they first aired, have been hailed as the pinnacle of the franchise. Seasons like Power Rangers in Space, Power Rangers Spd, and Power Rangers Rpm are near-universally loved, even with the fandom being able to acknowledge their respective flaws. But, when it comes to Power Rangers Time Force, I think most fans fail to realize just how many issues it has.
Power Rangers Time Force is commonly held up as a masterpiece, but it's far from the best season in the franchise. I love the season, and it features some of the most engaging characters and storylines in the series, along with one of the most talented casts of actors.

For 30 years, the Power Rangers franchise has delivered an action-packed series featuring teams of multicolored suited heroes defending the Earth from evil. The series always made an effort to emphasize the theme of teamwork, with the rangers always working, finding that working together is the best way to defeat the forces of evil. There is a real sense of found family in Power Rangers, with each Ranger team forming a solid friendship and camaraderie during their respective series.
While most Power Rangers teams consist of a group of friends, some Ranger teams do feature Rangers with family connections. Sometimes, these Rangers are introduced as being related, while in other cases, it is revealed as a major plot twist. Throughout the franchise, these Rangers and their familial connections helped to emphasize the franchise’s themes of teamwork, in spite of any possible family drama. Power Rangers’ Best 1990s Season Isn’t Mighty Morphin And Deserves As Much Love As The Original Show
Power Rangers will always be synonymous with the 1990s, but the show’s best season from that era was not Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Having been around for over 30 years, Power Rangers has seen almost a thousand episodes as well as three movies. The franchise also includes hundreds of comic book issues, multiple video games, and more. Despite such a long list of Power Rangers shows and movies, it’s difficult not to associate the franchise with Mighty Morphin, the original series that ran from 1993 to 1995.
Although nostalgia plays a role when looking at Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, the original series was very good and became a pop culture phenomenon for a reason. The Zyuranger aesthetic worked incredibly well for an American superhero show, with Mmpr also including a compelling cast of main characters that will forever be remembered by fans of the series. The Power Rangers universe was built on crossovers and cameos, many of which came out of nowhere and helped build a sense of continuity that made the show even better. When it comes to special appearances in Power Rangers, there is a difference between the usual crossover episodes between the current and the previous team, and cameos from legacy heroes. Almost every season had one team-up episode featuring the previous Power Rangers team, but not every season had cameos from other generations.
From 1993 to 1998, every Power Rangers show was part of the same overarching story that later became known as the Zordon Era. After Power Rangers in Space, the show started to have more standalone series, which made cameos and crossover episodes very special. From iconic Rangers showing up to help the younger generation to villains returning decades after their first appearance, Power Rangers knows how to do cameos.

"Power Rangers" was not just one of the biggest cultural phenomena of the 1990s, but it was also part of a wave of shows that made Japanese pop culture huge in the U.S. together with "Pokémon," "Sailor Moon" and "Dragon Ball Z." The show, created by Haim Saban and Shuki Levy in collaboration with Shotaro Ishinomori, was mostly composed of reused footage from Ishinomori's hugely influential and long-running tokusatsu series "Super Sentai." The series revolves around a team of youths trained to morph into superheroes known as Rangers, who fight evildoers and occasionally pilot giant mecha called Zords (which can combine to form even bigger mecha). As /Film decided in our previous reassessment, "Power Rangers" is good, actually, even setting our nostalgia aside.
Part of what made the show interesting in its early years was that the first six seasons of "Power Rangers" told a serialized story. This started...

The 1990s were a good time to be a fan of Japanese pop culture. After the '80s made gamers out of millions of kids thanks to Mario and Sonic the Hedgehog, it was the '90s when anime started to become mainstream in the U.S. (even if kids didn't know it at the time) thanks to "Pokémon" becoming a worldwide cultural phenomenon. (That and "Sailor Moon" and "Dragon Ball Z" turning kids and teens into lifelong fans of the medium.)
But it wasn't just animation. In live-action, "Power Rangers" brought tokusatsu fun to the West and started a hugely influential superhero franchise that, yes, is still very good. Created by Haim Saban and Shuki Levy in collaboration with Shotaro Ishinomori, the long-running property is mostly made out of reused footage from Ishinomori's iconic tokusatsu series "Super Sentai." For 30 years, the Power Rangers franchise has delivered a series of multicolored heroes defending the earth from evil. With each new entry in the franchise came a fresh group of villains, serving as the season-long antagonists for the Rangers to defeat. While Power Rangers has introduced hundreds of monster-of-the-week villains, the main villain and their respective generals were always the highlight, given season-long arcs and motivations for audiences to get invested in.
While some Power Rangers villains like Rita Repulsa and Lord Zedd have stood out as fan favorites, there are several lesser-known villains in the series who do not get the appreciation they deserve. These villains may not have been as memorable as the more iconic Power Rangers villains, but their arcs and characterizations made them stand out from other similar characters. Some of these villains had outstanding backstories, darker characterizations, or forwarded the plot in a compelling way.

Power Rangers in Space gave Bulk and Skull their coolest moment in the franchise, which also happened to be one of the most iconic Power Rangers entrances in history. The final entry in the Zordon Era, In Space was a direct sequel to Turbo and saw the Power Rangers of Earth set control to outer space following the destruction of the Command Center. While the 1998 season was primarily set off-planet, Power Rangers in Space would sometimes go back to Earth, namely Angel Grove.
As a result, a couple of supporting characters from the Mighty Morphin-Turbo era continued to appear on the show, including Bulk and Skull. Although their presence in the series was now much smaller compared to their weekly appearances in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Bulk and Skull continued to play the role of comic relief while often serving as the point of view characters on Earth. Rita Repulsa and Lord Zedd both returned in 2023, and they made the original Power Rangers look very inefficient in hindsight. It doesnt matter how many Power Rangers seasons there are the franchise will always be associated with Mighty Morphin on some level. From long-time fans of the show to casual viewers, names like Lord Zedd and Rita Repulsa will always be iconic. As such, it is no surprise that both of the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers villains returned in 2023, the year that celebrated Power Rangers 30th anniversary.
While Rita Repulsa was the first Power Rangers villain, she was technically working for Lord Zedd the whole time. In Mmpr season 2, we learn that Rita answers to a bigger evil, Lord Zedd. Interestingly, Zedd also answered to a bigger threat, Dark Specter, about which we learned in Power Rangers in Space. The concept of crossovers is almost as old as TV itself. It's a good idea that can boost the viewership of two (or more!) shows, bringing audiences together and exposing them to another series they might like. Some crossovers are quite seamless and logical, such as the ones involving the Arrowverse and "CSI" franchises. Others are plain weird, like the time "Mr. Robot" met Alf or when "The X-Files" crossed over with the reality show "Cops" (or even the one time the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fought alongside the Power Rangers).
Another crossover that definitely belongs to the latter category is that one time "Bones" crossed over with "Sleepy Hollow," a rather unexpected event yet also one that felt like a full circle moment, seeing as both properties were already connected (in a way). Indeed, the main makeup design technicians on "Bones" were Chris Yagher and his brother Kevin Yagher,...

Most Power Rangers are normal people who are given superpowers and pulled into the world of the supernatural. Some of their lives, however, were dramatic and strange long before they even knew what a Power Ranger was. In some cases, they've already endured extreme tragedy.

For 30 years, the Power Rangers franchise has delivered fun, action-packed adventures following a team of multi-colored heroes defending the earth from evil. After the third season of Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers, the franchise began adapting new Super Sentai (the Japanese tokusatsu series) series for Power Rangers, introducing new suits, zords, and after Power Rangers In Space, a new cast every year. While the average Power Rangers team consists of five Rangers, with the sixth Ranger being introduced later on, some series featured a larger Ranger team.
Power Rangers S.P.D. was the first series to feature more than six Rangers consistently as part of the team. After that, Power Rangers continued to feature larger amounts of Rangers throughout the Disney era, the New Saban era, and the Hasbro era. Where the original Power Rangers were during the shows most important battle is a question that Power Rangers has yet to answer. In 1993, the franchises heroes were Jason, Zack, Trini, Billy, and Kimberly, with Green Ranger Tommy later joining the crew. While the Mighty Morphin team would go through a few changes, Power Rangers followed pretty much the same set of heroes from Mmpr season 3 to the first half of Turbo. It was only after Tommy and the others left that Power Rangers first moved into an all-new team with no Mmpr or Zeo characters.
The new Turbo Rangers quickly earned their place in the franchise and later led the show into a new era with 1998s Power Rangers in Space. One of the best things about the Power Rangers franchise is how it can explore different genres and settings within the same world, and the show even had its version of Star Wars. From 1993 to 1995, the Power Ranges universe followed the Mighty Morphin team as they went to school and saved the world from Rita Repulsa or Lord Zedd. This formula did not change much from Mmpr to Zeo or even from Zeo to Turbo. However, the show would change forever in 1998 with Power Rangers in Space.
While it is considered a Zordon Era show, Power Rangers in Space was unlike all the other seasons that had come before it. On the one hand, we were still following most of the Turbo cast, except that now T.J., Ashley, Cassie, and Carlos needed new powers. On the other hand, In Space brought in a brand-new Red Ranger and took place primarily outside of Earth.

When Hasbro bought out the production rights to the Power Rangers franchise in 2018, many fans were excited and cautiously concerned regarding the new direction of the series. Hasbro's first series, Power Rangers Beast Morphers, was generally well-received by fans, who considered it a massive improvement from Nickelodeon's Power Rangers Ninja Steel, which was considered a low point for the series.

Power Rangers has a rare amount of villains that turn over a new leaf. Ransik and Astronema are great examples of villains that turned out to be good for the right reasons. Even still, it could be argued these villains may not have earned their redemption.

Boom! Studios' Power Rangers comics have made some striking divergences from the franchise's television canon; the possible introduction of Mystic Mother, the pure good form of Rita Repulsa, would be one of their most significant remixes of the series' lore yet. Rita's redemption arc, as she contemplates her future, could lead to a significant departure from her TV counterpart's transformation, which occurred when the "Z-Wave" wiped all traces of evil from the universe. Rita's evolution into Mystic Mother may be inevitable, especially as she distances herself from her villainous past and aligns with the Rangers, though in a way, her transformation will be more impactful because she is making the decision herself.

With Power Rangers Cosmic Fury serving as the end of the series' ongoing, original continuity and there being no officially announced plans for what's next, the future of Power Rangers is currently up in the air. While fans eagerly await the next evolution of this timeless franchise, the key to keeping them hooked could be to look to the past.

Zordon's best moments as a mentor in Boom! Studios' comics show his unwavering belief in good and his students, even after death and betrayal. Zordon is a father figure offering tough love and genuine sympathy to his students, balancing responsibilities as a mentor. Despite some failures, Zordon learns from past mistakes, accepts students' lies, and teams up with former foes, showcasing his greatness.
Zordon's best moments as a mentor to the Power Rangers are on full display in the Boom! Studios comic books. More than 30 years ago, audiences watched in amazement as a blue, thousand-year-old floating head recruited five teenagers with attitude, gifting them with superpowers.
The wise Eltarian served as the primary supporting character of the franchise until his death in 1998's Power Rangers in Space. As recently as Zordon's surprise cameo in Power Rangers Cosmic Fury, the franchise has continued to add to the lore of the character...

Power Rangers Zeo is a direct sequel to Mighty Morphin and should not be skipped by fans of the original series. Power Rangers In Space marks the end of the Zordon Era and is an important entry in the show's lore and chronology. Power Rangers Dino Thunder is a fan-favorite season and a highlight of the franchise's early 2000s entries that directly tie into Mighty Morphin.
There are a few Power Rangers seasons every fan of the original series should watch, either because of how they connect to Mighty Morphin or just because of their quality. While the Power Rangers chronology includes 30 seasons of television and many other releases, Mighty Morphin will always be a separate chapter in the history of the franchise. The Power Rangers of Earth revealed their identities to the public for the first time in the finale of Power Rangers in Space, signaling the end of the Zordon Era and the start of standalone seasons. The concept of secret identities has varied in importance throughout different Power Rangers seasons, with some teams valuing it more than others. Power Rangers teams that have "superheroes" as the official job description tend to have less focus on secret identities, while teams of teenagers often prioritize keeping their identities hidden to protect their loved ones.
The Power Rangers first revealed their identity to the world in 1998, forever changing the Power Rangers TV show. One of Zordon’s rules the Power Rangers had to follow was to never reveal their identities to others. In classic superhero fashion, the Rangers could put the lives of loved ones in danger should they ever reveal themselves to the public.

Power Rangers' sci-fi seasons are among the best entries in the franchise, featuring androids, time travel, and space exploration. Some standout sci-fi seasons include Power Rangers Lost Galaxy, Power Rangers Time Force, and Power Rangers Spd. Power Rangers In Space and Power Rangers Lost Galaxy were the first to successfully combine the Power Rangers formula with sci-fi elements, delivering mature and impactful storytelling.
The Power Rangers universe includes 30 seasons of television, many of which belong in the sci-fi genre. While every Power Rangers TV show follows the basic premise introduced in Mighty Morphin, the franchise has evolved a lot since the final days of the Zordon Era. Some of the best entries in the Power Rangers chronology could not be more different from Mighty Morphin, including the shows that delved into the sci-fi aspect of the saga.

Some Power Rangers seasons are more mature and can be enjoyed by adults, even without nostalgia. They break away from the formulaic structure. Power Rangers in Space, Lost Galaxy, and Time Force are among the best seasons that offer more serious and complex storylines. Lightspeed Rescue and S.P.D. feature grounded and realistic takes on Power Rangers, focusing on themes like leadership and duty.
While there is not a dark or gritty Power Rangers show, some entries in the franchise are more mature than others and can be enjoyed by adults even without considering nostalgia. Power Rangers has been a show aimed at younger audiences since its inception, with most seasons following a formulaic structure defined by the monster of the week trope. Comic relief characters like Bulk and Skull have been used multiple times during Power Rangers’ chronology, and terms like “death” or “kill” have rarely been used in the series.

Power Rangers in Space was initially intended to be the show's final season, but its surprising success saved the franchise from cancellation. The season marked the end of the Zordon Era and expanded the scope of Power Rangers, showing that the show could work without its iconic characters like Tommy and Jason. In Space is considered one of the best seasons of Power Rangers, thanks to its fresh setting in space, well-developed characters, and complex villain Astronema. The finale episode is also hailed as one of the best in the entire series.

Power Rangers has come a long way since its debut 30 years ago, with numerous seasons, movies, and other media. The Zordon era of Power Rangers concluded with Power Rangers in Space, marking a turning point for the franchise. Power Rangers is slowly moving away from Super Sentai adaptations, as seen with the original Power Rangers Cosmic Fury suits.
Power Rangers just turned 30, and the franchise has changed a lot since Mighty Morphin Power Rangers premiered on August 28, 1993. The Power Rangers franchise consists of 963 episodes as of Power Rangers Dino Fury season 2, not to mention the movies, specials, comic books, video games, roleplaying games, and reference materials. The idea of combining a Super Sentai show with an original story quickly proved to be successful, and Mighty Morphin Power Rangers has since become a pop culture icon.

While the Power Rangers are known for their flashy and effective martial arts skills, some Power Rangers actors were trained martial artists long before earning their roles. These actors not only played a Power Ranger at some point in time, but also became proficient in some form of martial arts before stepping into the franchise. In this way, they are martial artists both on-screen and beyond it as well.
The Power Rangers franchise first began in 1993 with the premiere of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. The series revolves around a group of powerful teenagers who are taken in and mentored by the wizard Zordon. Through training and the use of assault machines called Zords, the teens are able to morph into the Power Rangers. Their main enemy was Rita Repulsa. Since then, the Power Rangers have appeared in various additional television series and feature films that are still being created today.

The list of Power Rangers’ Red Rangers includes franchise legends Jason Lee Scott and Tommy Oliver, but neither of them was the most important Red Ranger in the saga. Jason was Power Rangers’ first Red Ranger, the one chosen by Zordon to lead the team in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. After Jason quit the Power Rangers, Rocky became the new Red Ranger. However, it was Tommy, the White Ranger, who led the team. Some incredibly dark Power Rangers moments almost feel like they are from a different show. While Mighty Morphin Power Rangers was designed for younger audiences, Power Rangers grew with its viewers. By the end of the Zordon Era, the Power Rangers universe trusted its audiences with more serious storylines, darker themes, and tragic characters. As a result, most of the darkest Power Rangers episodes come from Power Rangers in Space and post-Zordon seasons.
Apart from a few moments with the Green Ranger in season 1 and a couple of battles in season 3, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers never really had dark, shocking moments. The episodic nature of Mighty Morphin also made it difficult for any scene to have a longstanding impact. Fortunately, that began to change after Mighty Morphin Power Rangers ended, and Power Rangers soon embraced bolder storylines. Here are the 10 darkest Power Rangers moments.

Power Rangers’ new team is a reminder that the Power Rangers do not always need a Zordon-type of mentor. Zordon was one of the original characters created for Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, loosely based on Kyouryu Sentai Zyuranger’s Mysterious Sage Barza. It was Zordon’s role to guide the Power Rangers, send them on missions, and explain the mysteries of the Morphin Grid. Zordon is one of the most recognizable Power Rangers characters, and his legacy continued even after his death.
Zordon guided the Power Rangers throughout Mighty Morphin, Power Rangers Zeo, and Power Rangers Turbo. Zordon was also involved in Power Rangers in Space, although mostly off-screen. Power Rangers killed off Zordon at the end of Power Rangers in Space, yet several Zordon-like characters would be introduced in future seasons. Interestingly, the most recent Power Rangers season shows that it can work without the “Zordon trope.”

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always revisited several classic Power Rangers characters, including fan-favorites Bulk and Skull. Bulk (Paul Schrier) and Skull (Jason Narvy) have been a major part of the Power Rangers universe since its inception with Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Serving as Power Rangers’ comic relief, Bulk and Sull created an impressive legacy within the Power Rangers franchise.
Unlike previous Power Rangers anniversary crossovers, Power Rangers: Once & Always's Easter eggs were mostly focused on the Mighty Morphin era. The Power Rangers reunion saw the returns of Zordon’s pupils and revisited iconic locations, such as Angel Grove. Therefore, at least some nod to Bulk and Skull in Power Rangers: Once & Always seemed likely.

Zordon, the original Power Rangers mentor, is one of the most recognizable characters in the Power Rangers universe. However, Zordon did not appear in Power Rangers: Once & Always. While the Power Rangers’ mentor's absence from the reunion can be disappointing, there is a good reason why Zordon was not in Once & Always.
Of the five teenagers with attitude picked by Zordon in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers’ “Day of the Dumpster,” only Billy and Zack returned. In the early 90s, a new pop culture phenomenon grasped the young audience worldwide in the form of “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers,” which showcased a color-coded costume-wearing team of teenage superheroes, mentored by an alien trapped in a time warp, with each of the teens having their distinctive animal-motif weapons and transforming vehicles. While handling their real-life situations, the team of do-gooders battled the monster of the episode, which inevitably ended up in mechanical Megazord battles. The entire narrative, character designs, and even key battle sequences were heavily inspired by the Japanese tokusatsu series “Super Sentai.” The simplistic plotline, caricature-ish characters, over-the-top action, and quippy dialogues, all tied together with a shoestring budget, had a self-aware charm of their own, which made it possible for the series to further itself into a newer motif-oriented franchise spanning over three decades with thirty new series—although the newer versions have lost their appeal by far.

In over 25 seasons of the Power Rangers franchise, there have been nearly as many Blue Rangers on the core teams as there are seasons, narrowly beating out the Yellow Ranger numbers. Unlike the Pink, Black, or Green Rangers, a team always has at least one Blue Ranger. Some teams even get a specialty Ranger in a shade of blue to back them up. The Blue Rangers started the series in the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers days by being the intellectual powerhouses of the teams. They invented gadgets for the teams to use and helped strategize complex problems. Over time, their roles would expand, and sometimes, Blue Rangers are even next in line to command a team behind the Red Ranger.

For some, Power Rangers played a special role in their childhoods. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers was a brand new concept to arrive in the U.S. television market. For years, the people responsible had a tough time convincing their bosses that it was a good investment.
No one believed that the Japanese-based show would skyrocket into success. With millions of dollars in revenue coming in from merchandise alone, they decided to keep the ball rolling.
