Everyone loves a comeback story. Just look at Tiger Woods. And Hollywood especially loves a good comeback such as Judy Garland with 1954’s “A Star is Born.” The latest Tinseltown comeback is none other than Brendan Fraser, who over the past 30 years starred in everything from lowbrow comedies (“Encino Man”) to action blockbusters ( “The Mummy”) to acclaimed dramas and even a Best Picture Oscar winner (“Crash”).

But the 53-year-old actor has gone through a rough patch: a divorce including a well-publicized alimony issue in 2013, health issues, depression, the death of his mother and the 2018 revelation where he alleged, he had been sexually assaulted by the former head of the Hollywood Foreign Press Assn. in 2003. After stepping away for a while, Fraser has been slowly working his way back appearing in such TV series as Showtime’s “The Affair” and DC Universe and HBO Max series “Doom Patrol.”

Cinematographer Tom Richmond, whose résumé included work on such films as Stand and Deliver, Killing Zoe, Little Odessa, Slums of Beverly Hills and Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist, has died. He was 72.

Richmond died Friday in New York City, Anthony Jannelli, head of cinematography at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, told The Hollywood Reporter (Richmond also taught at NYU). The cause of death was not immediately available.

Richmond, who was the director of photography on nearly four dozen features, also shot Keenan Ivory Wayans’ I’m Gonna Git You Sucka (1988), Scott Silver’s Johns (1996), Rob Zombie’s House of 1,000 Corpses (2003) and Todd Solondz’s Palindromes (2004).

He won the best cinematography prize at Sundance in 2006 for his work on Right at Your Door, a drama about a terrorist attack involving chemical bombs.

Actress Stephanie Niznik, best known for her roles as Nina Feeney on Everwood and as Kell Perim in Star Trek: Insurrection, died June 23 in Encino, California. She was 52.

The Bangor, Maine native played neighbor Nina Feeney on the WB medical drama series Everwood throughout its four-season run from 2002-2006. She also was a series regular in the mid-1990s action drama Vanishing Son and the 2007 drama Life Is Wild.

Her additional credits include guest roles on Nash Bridges, NCIS and CSI: Miami and recurring roles on Grey’s Anatomy and Diagnosis Murder.

On the film side, she played Trill Starfleet Ensign Kell Perim in the feature Star Trek: Insurrection, then went on to play the Wraith in the “Rogue Planet” episode of the series Star Trek: Enterprise.

(Palm Springs, California – February 1, 2010) Lars Hansen died Sunday night, January 31, of complications from liver cancer. He was 60. Hansen had a distinguished career in cultural arts management. In Los Angeles, he was Executive Director, Office of Cultural Relations, for the University of Southern California (2001-2004) where he was responsible for creating and maintaining strategic relationships with the cultural institutions of Los Angeles. At USC, he also produced the President's Distinguished Artist/Lecture Series, presenting such notable speakers as Lech Walesa, Isaac Stern, and Bishop Desmond Tutu. RHI Entertainment and Ion Media Networks are firming up the details of their expanded programming partnership announced in May, which will include a new digitally remastered edition of the miniseries Lonesome Dove.

The deal calls for RHI to be the exclusive primetime program supplier for Ion (formerly Pax Network) from 7-11 p.m. Fridays-Sundays. The programming, a mix of movies and miniseries, will include originals and library titles.

The weekends, dubbed RHI Movie Weekend, kick off June 29. Dove. is set to premiere from 9-11 p.m. June 30 and continue July 7, 14 and 21. The mini stars Robert Duvall, Anjelica Huston, Tommy Lee Jones, Diane Lane, Danny Glover and Chris Cooper.

The premiere weekend also will feature Broken Vows, starring Jones and Annette O'Toole (7-9 p.m. June 29), and Cleopatra, starring Timothy Dalton, Billy Zane and Leonor Varela (7-11 p.m. July 1).

Other titles include The Twilight of the Golds, starring Faye Dunaway, Brendan Fraser, Gary Marshall, Rosie O'Donnell and Jennifer Beals.
