Twin music duo Tegan and Sara’s best-selling memoir “High School” will be adapted as an original series for Amazon’s IMDb TV free, ad-supported streaming service.
The show, announced as part of Amazon’s first-ever NewFronts presentation Monday, will be executive produced by identical twins Tegan and Sara and writer-director-actor Clea DuVall.
“High School” is a coming-of-age scripted series described as “a transcendent story of first loves and first songs.” The series, to stream exclusively on IMDb TV, is produced by Amazon Studios and Brad Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment.
News of the Tegan and Sara project for IMDb TV comes after IMDb TV also announced orders for a half-hour crime drama from Dick Wolf, docuseries “Luke Bryan: My Dirt Road Diary” and a home-design series with interior designer Jeff Lewis; and five originals in development, including coming-of-age comedy “Primo” from “The Good Place” creator Michael Schur and author Shea Serrano.

IMDb TV, Amazon’s free-streaming video service, has ratcheted up its spending on original content — and more broadly, the e-commerce giant is trying to make the case to Madison Avenue that it has amassed a huge audience for ad-supported video content.
At Amazon’s first NewFronts presentation for advertisers Monday, IMDb TV announced unscripted series with country star Luke Bryan and famed interior designer Jeff Lewis (“Flipping Out”). In addition, IMDb TV has ordered “On Call,” a new half-hour drama from prolific producer Dick Wolf and Wolf Entertainment, Universal Television and Attn:, following a pair of police officers on patrol in Long Beach, Calif., with each episode tracking the duo as they respond to a new radio call, arriving on the scene to resolve an incident.
Those will join a growing slate of originals at IMDb TV, the two-year-old AVOD service that competes with the likes of the Roku Channel,...

Amazon’s IMDb TV free, ad-supported streaming service is bulking up its originals lineup — announcing five new series in development, including a comedy from “The Good Place” creator Michael Schur and author Shea Serrano.
The projects are part of Amazon’s first-ever NewFronts presentation to advertisers on Monday.
“Primo,” from Serrano and Schur, is billed as a coming-of-age story about a Mexican-American teenager balancing cultural norms, college aspirations, societal expectations and the hectic home life of being raised by his single mom and five uncles.
The series is written and executive produced by Serrano, who based the comedy on his upbringing. Schur, who co-created “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” and “Parks and Recreation” after serving as a writer and producer on “The Office,” also serves as executive producer alongside David Miner. “Primo” is a Fremulon and 3 Arts production in association with Universal TV, a division of Universal Studio Group.

Every month comes and every month this article demands to be written. It’s a tragic, inescapable fact that movies leave streaming services all the time, but it’s a privilege to be able to inform you when their number is up. I well up every time. No joke. I put a box of Kleenex on standby. Honest.
Today’s departure list concerns every film leaving Hulu at the end of July (on the 31st). Lots of names you won’t necessarily be familiar with, but I guarantee one will be impossible to miss.

It’s been awhile since the world has seen a new comedy from Greg Daniels, co-creator of The Office (U.S.) and Parks and Recreation. That all changes this month with Amazon Prime’s new releases for May 2020. That’s right, leading the pack of Amazon originals on May 1 is Daniels’ Upload, a comedy about digital afterlives. That should inject a healthy dose of sci-fi “middletopia” into our lives.
Also premiering in May is the second season of Amazon Prime’s twisty drama Homecoming. This season starts Janelle Monáe and premieres on May 22. After that, the rest of Amazon’s originals this month are fairly film-centric. The Goldfinch, Seberg, and The Vast of Night are the notable original films arriving in May.

There are few surefire successes in television. It just so happens that with its new releases for May 2020, Hulu almost certainly found itself one. May 8 sees the debut of all eight episodes of Solar Opposites, the latest sci-fi animated effort from Rick and Morty co-creator Justin Roiland. This is a brand new story featuring a family of aliens crashing to Earth and learning to live amongst the rest of us weirdos. But the animation style and sci-fi themes hew so closely to Rick and Morty that there’s no way this won’t be a hit.
On the off chance Solar Opposites doesn’t set the world ablaze, Hulu has some other intriguing content lottery tickets for May. The Great premieres on May 15 and is a comedic period piece about Catherine the Great starring Elle Fanning and Nicholas Hoult. You can’t accuse Hulu of not taking big swings this month!

It goes without saying that the pandemic is keeping everyone stuck inside with little to do besides watch television, play video games, and read. Here’s some great news, though: There’s plenty coming to Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, and Amazon Prime in May, so put away the books and the games, and get ready to binge some excellent shows and films.
On Netflix, you can catch some notable comedy entries next month like the Jim Carrey-led Ace Ventura: Pet Detective and Fun with Dick and Jane, while action-horror fans may be delighted to hear that multiple Underworld films will be dropping on the service. The lesser-known Jarhead trilogy will be available on the 1st, and the first two pics in the Back to the Future trilogy will join the third film for streaming. American music producer who worked with many pop greats including Bob Dylan, Barbra Streisand and Frank Sinatra
Once nicknamed "The Pope of Pop", Phil Ramone, who has died aged 79, worked as a sound engineer and producer with an unparalleled list of popular musicians including Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, Billy Joel, Ray Charles and Barbra Streisand. In 1993, he produced Frank Sinatra's comeback album Duets, which paired the crooner with a host of stars such as Aretha Franklin, Bono and Tony Bennett. Its success prompted a follow-up, Duets II, which was Sinatra's final studio album. Ramone used the celebrity guests concept again for Charles's album Genius Loves Company (2004) and duets albums for Bennett.
Ramone won 14 Grammys during his career and was in demand for television, film and stage projects. He collaborated with Streisand on soundtracks for A Star Is Born and Yentl, worked on stage productions of Chicago, The Wiz and...
