The AA patrol was a genuine AA patrol. His patrol team manager was approached by the film company and he was asked if the automobile association could supply a very handsome member of their patrol force as the movie required such an individual. The fact he was so very handsome was a bonus.
In audio commentary for Rome (2005), Kevin McKidd said his kiss with James Purefoy (who also starred in Rome (2005)) was "an unpleasant experience."
