Funny, slick, <insert appropriate superlative here> cartoon

This has got to be my favourite cartoon of all time. I had to watch reruns on power zone's midnight run recently, but it was worth staying up for the swat kats.

It has great music, cool characters, witty dialogue, lots of action and is just a really slick show overall. The artwork on was very good - right from razor and t-bone to the jet to the whole look of mega-kat city.

Mega Kat City was disaster prone, but swat kats managed to be cartoonish and suitable for kids without degenerating into the silliness or stupidity. It never failed to be funny and stylish.

I wish I could find it somewhere on DVD to buy.

    Deserved a better fate

Extremely well-rendered cartoon, with good characters. They did a good job with the "double-life" of the main kats: mechanics by day, vigilantes by night (usually). The bad guys could be a bit formulaic, and the show sometimes got a bit tech-happy ("check out THIS weapon"), but for the most part, a good show. It always seemed to be on at the wrong time - way too early, and paired up with "2 Stupid Dogs". Rumor has it Ted Turner caught an episode and ordered it yanked. The final episode was a hastily-thrown-together "best of" show, which was even lamer than most attempts at same. That shouldn't detract from it being remembered as a great series from the early days of the cartoon renaissance.
    S-Runner

One of the greatest cartoons to grace the TV screen.

The series itself has great action, evolved characters, quite original plot and great overall quality. It was so great that a cult built up and written stories emerged.

So what if planes with cats and buildings with cats and machines with cats crash or blow up or burn down or anything like that. Too bad this lasted only too seasons, but those were great, I recommend it to any Sci-Fi lover, cartoon lover and action lover.

To tell you what? it's even funny sometimes. Go see it, wait a second, they cancelled the show for too much violence, you will have to register with Cartoon Network. And with all the other 'Non-interesting' shows they put up on that network, Swat Kats is one great reason to buy a connection.

    Radical Cartoon!

Swat Kats is one of the other best cartoon action shows ever! This show is about two cats named Chance Furlong (T-Bone) and Jake Clawson (Razor) who are auto-mechanics by day but when there is trouble in MegaKat City they are the Swat Kats who are a masked duo of heroes who defend MegaKat City from criminal master minds and monsters. The show is well-crafted, meticulously-animated children's science-fiction in faithful anime style, with well-rounded characters, ongoing story lines and rakes of humor. This is one of the best cartoons of the 90's made by the company of Hanna-Barbera Cartoons! I thought the show was just awesome! I thought all of the gadgets that the Swat Kats had were cool and I really liked their jet, The Turbokat. It is to bad that they canceled it because it got canceled in 1995 after 2 seasons and 23 episodes, the same year my other two favorite shows were canceled. My other two favorite shows that got canceled the same year as the SWAT Kats were Sonic the Hedgehog and Darkwing Duck. I thought all the SWAT Kats villains were pretty cool, my two favorite were Dark Kat and Dr. Viper! I thought The Pastmaster was cool looking but his plans for taking over MegaKat City is really stupid. One character I am also not very fond of is Commander Farrell. The reason why I don't like Commander Farrell is because he is always wanting to take all the credit and the glory from the SWAT Kats. But he can be okay sometimes. I wish that someday they would bring this show back on the air and make more new episodes!

    BOTTOM LINE: RADICAL CARTOON!
    sk_razor

Ended by stupidity Swat Kats still remains in many hearths forever.

Swat Kats is probably one of the best cartoons of the century ... If compare it to all action shows on cartoon network it still would be the best. It was a masterpiece of work in every aspect. Just mentioning Hanna-Barbara, means we have that old school everlasting sense of "fine" animation and sound so unlike todays "modern" 1-5 color cartoons with some walking talking squares and triangles who usually appear as freaks, sissies or pimps, with some rather moronic roles. Swat Kats had OUTSTANDING action put together by - good sense of moral, valor, fantasy, mystery and humor. And the excuse of violence they used to stop the show was so miserable. If we look at todays cartoons they even dare use sexual propaganda freely, turning kids into the well known "pigs" that you can encounter in some bar. Swat Kats deserves huge RESPECT for making the whole show interesting while NOT pressing on "Duh Slang N Shitz/Lingo" and still be able to keep every episode a thrill ... Even if you don't like action cartoons or cartoons at all you still cant deny the pure sense of SUPREME quality that Swat Kats offered compared to other cartoons. About what was the cartoon like i don't need to tell you better see for your self (:

    • Trivia
In a 2009 interview with Lance Falk (Writer / Design Coordinator) he said that the way he heard about the reason behind the cancellation of SWAT Kats was that Ted Turner himself simply thought the show was too violent for kids. When it got canceled, there was a paragraph from Turner in Entertainment Weekly (early 1995) entitled "Ted's Excellent Speaking Engagement" concerning cartoon violence: "We have more cartoons than anybody: 'The Flintstones', 'The Jetsons', 'The Smurfs', 'Scooby-Doo'. They're nonviolent. We don't have to worry that we're encouraging kids to kill each other--like SOME of the other cartoon programs do".
    • Goofs
When in civilian outfit, the titular cats have shoes. But when they are in their Swat uniforms, the cats are barefoot.

    • Alternate versions
Before the openings, there would be clips of the episode to air with Razor's voice saying "Today on Swat Kats..." In later years and on Cartoon Network, they stopped showing them.
