Great Brit Sci Fi

It's great to encounter a story with a beginning middle and an end. Comparisons with the Xfiles are obvious but the saving grace here is that its is carried off rather well. Good production values are backed up by a decent script and a neat plot line where the otherworld beings can't control the mind of a woman with Alzheimer's. Although the show isn't exactly fast paced the script allows the viewer to care for the players as the plot moves along. Douglas Hodge is excellent as usual although Leslie Grantham and the woman playing Hodge's editor are miscast they don't detract from the overall piece. Although the ending is somewhat predictable it is satisfying and not pedestrian and it offers the viewer a sense of closure which is rare in the UK where most imported American Sci Fi shows are left unfinished.

Pretty good British sci-fi

I really enjoyed this when I first saw it in the late 1990s, and have just enjoyed it again on DVD. The conspiracy theory, involving not just an alien takeover (in itself not particularly inspired) but also the hint of danger inherent in a software monopoly involving worldwide adoption of one particular operating system has echoes in the present. Although the pace of the story may not suit those brought up on a diet of fast-moving action, there is just enough to keep you hooked. Some of the acting may also appear a little wooden, but the characters are sufficiently believable to carry it off. All in all, I would thoroughly recommend this movie as one to share with other enthusiasts of the genre.

A definite undiscovered gem.

This was a truly excellent sci fi series, British TV in the 90's wasn't exactly flushed with Sci fi dramas, so at the time The Uninvited was pretty unique, it made an impact and has remained in the memory. It is the typical slow invasion by Aliens story, but it manages to go beyond that somehow. The story is really well told, it's evenly paced, it looks good, it's well acted and the music compliments it.

Douglas Hodge was brilliantly cast as Steven Blake, and played the lead role admirably. I also enjoyed very much the performances of Lia Williams and Sylvestra le Touzel. Leslie Grantham too is very strong in the role of Gates.

Douglas Hodge and Lia Williams worked well together, they had a good chemistry between them.

A very good, much overlooked series. Well worth a look. 8/10

A great piece of English acting and filming scenes.

A great piece of English acting. Leslie Grantham, is an excellent actor just as Dirty Den in EastEnders.
