Kevin Bacon and Christian Slater are actors from the same generation and have had phenomenal careers spanning more than four decades. Audiences got to know Bacon in the smash dancing drama Footloose in 1984, whereas Slater rose to prominence after an unforgettable turn in the cult dark comedy Heathers a few years later. Since then, both have worked consistently in critically acclaimed movies and television shows. In 1995, however, they teamed up to make one of the decade's best films. The prison/courtroom drama Murder in the First is undoubtedly some of the finest film work both have been involved with. Directed by the late Marc Rocco (who also did his best work behind the camera of his career), it is a harrowing tale that gave Bacon, in particular, a meaty role that he could really sink his teeth into. And Slater has never been more front-and-center than in this period piece.

In a bold and time-relevant move that is sure to delight movie fans, Warner Bros. Entertainment has made 31 of its full-length movies available for free on its YouTube channels, including 2000's Dungeons & Dragons, and the Jackie Chan movie Mr. Nice Guy. The refreshing approach to content distribution, however, is a strategy that aims to boost visibility and generate digital ad revenue, with the additional benefit of making a diverse range of cinematic gems accessible to a wider audience.
According to Variety, ever since 2025 began, the entertainment giant has quietly been dropping movies on its Warner Bros.-owned YouTube channels, all available to stream for free. Of course, the movies still include ads for those who do not own a YouTube Premium subscription. These movies include a mix of genres and eras, with titles like the 1935 adventure Mutiny on the Bounty, the 2002 sci-fi comedy starring Eddie Murphy, The Adventures of Pluto Nash,...

Warner Bros. Discovery may not be ready to launch a free ad-supported streaming TV (Fast) service of its own just yet, but the company is on the lookout for ways to boost its digital ad revenue. Its latest tactic is to add free movies to YouTube. Wbd has put more than 30 full-length films on the social video platform to stream at no cost, as long as you don’t mind putting up with a few commercials.
Key Details: Movies featuring Kevin Bacon, Chevy Chase, Robert De Niro, and other stars are streaming free on YouTube. None of the films are currently available to stream on the company’s platform Max. Wbd licenses plenty of content to Fast platforms, but has made no public progress on its own Fast platform. Movie lovers, rejoice! Warner Bros. has quietly made 31 full-length movies available to stream for free on YouTube. This move allows viewers to enjoy classic and lesser-known films without a subscription, though they do come with ads unless you have YouTube Premium.
Over the years, Warner Bros. has experimented with different ways to make money from its vast catalog of films. It launched FilmStruck, a subscription streaming service, in 2018, but shut it down less than a year later. Since then, the company has focused on licensing movies to free, ad-supported platforms like Roku and Tubi.
Now, Warner Bros. is trying a new approach—releasing movies directly on YouTube. This move allows the studio to generate revenue through digital ads while making films more accessible to a wider audience.

Over the years, Warner Bros. has tried to monetize its catalog of older movies through different subscription streaming services, including FilmStruck — which it shut down less than a year after it launched in 2018.
Now, Warner Bros. Entertainment has quietly taken a new approach to bringing its content to YouTube to farm its film catalog for digital ad revenue.
Since the start of 2025, the company has released 31 movies on Warner Bros.-owned YouTube channels, all available for free. The movies include ads, unless you are a YouTube Premium subscriber. Warner Bros. has published a YouTube playlist with the free movies, available at this link.
The titles are varied and cut across genres, with some films on the list dating back decades. The movies include “Mutiny on the Bounty” starring Marlon Brando, “The Adventures of Pluto Nash” starring Eddie Murphy, “Oh, God!” featuring George Burns in the titular role, “The Mission” starring Robert De Niro,...

In a very uncharacteristic move by Warner Bros., the studio has uploaded 31 movies to stream on YouTube for free. There is a perception that those who are watching a movie via a streaming service over going to the theater, is that it's free to do, despite paying a monthly subscription. Those streaming platforms are more costly than ever, and people are starting to make cuts to what could be a must-have service. Yet, a movie on YouTube that can be watched for free with no rental fee or any commercials, is something Warner Bros. is looking to offer movie fans with titles like the first Dungeons & Dragons, Mutiny on the Bounty, and the Jackie Chan-led Mr. Nice Guy.
Warner Bros. Entertainment's YouTube page made a playlist of movies that can be watched for free, some of which are critically acclaimed hits. These include Palme d'Or winner The Mission starring Robert DeNiro,...

Warner Bros has released 17 of its films to watch for free on YouTube, including Critters 4 and Waiting For Guffman. Here’s the full list of titles:
YouTube has come to rival TV channels and streaming services with its extensive library of shows, tutorials and, naturally, clips of people making fools of themselves.
Warner Bros has tapped into this vast resource by releasing some of its films to watch, in full, for free on the platform. That’s music to our ears, especially as Netflix is hiking up its prices again.
Don’t expect to find Furiosa or Juror #2 on YouTube just yet, though. The playlist is made up of films ranging from the mid-1980s all the way to 2008, with gems like Critters 4, Mr Nice Guy and Waiting For Guffman. Tom Felton commented on the real-life nicknames that he utilized to make his performance as Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter films exceptional and convincing. Along with Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson, Felton skyrocketed to fame at a young age after the breakout success of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. He would go on to become a core part of the Harry Potter franchise's cast and would play one of the most integral characters in the entire series, the conflicted and disturbed Draco Malfoy.
Following the enormous success of the Harry Potter films, which spanned eight installments with the final one being 2011's Deathly Hallows: Part 2, Felton went on to star in Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Murder in the First, and The Flash. Apart from acting, Felton also has a career in music as a pop singer. He has released several singles, starting with...

A sleeper science fiction comedy hit since its debut in 2021, "Resident Alien" has steadily been entertaining audiences with its extraterrestrial hijinks. The show adapts the comic book of the same name by Peter Hogan and Steve Parkhouse, starring Alan Tudyk as an alien hiding in the small town of Patience, Colorado. Posing as the town's doctor Harry Vanderspeigle, the alien initially intends to wipe out humanity as part of his otherworldly directive, but then he learns to appreciate it. This change of heart is informed by the friends that Harry makes in town, with "Resident Alien" boasting a strong ensemble of actors joining Tudyk.
A lot of the charm in "Resident Alien" comes from its principal cast, along with the solid writing by series creator Chris Sheridan. As the series progresses, much of these characters' backstories are gradually revealed, giving heart to the wacky sci-fi antics Harry unleashes on the town.

Travis and Sosie Bacon are about to be one degree of separation away from their father.
Spouses Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick are set to direct themselves and their children in a horror comedy for Dark Castle Entertainment that’s being shopped to buyers at the American Film Market event, according to Variety.
The film, accurately and amusingly titled “Family Movie,” is about a family of horror filmmakers whose latest low-budget project spirals out of control when a dead body is discovered on set. But the show must go on, and the only way to save the movie is to cover up the murder and keep going, by any means necessary. “Premature” writer-director Dan Beers wrote the script, and the Bacons are producing along with Dark Castle’s Norman Golightly.

Taye Diggs got his start in the professional performing arts world on stage, not on screen. He had a successful Broadway career with roles in Carousel and Rent before he appeared in his first TV roles in 1996. He has become such a prolific film and TV actor since then that many might forget that hes a song and dance man first.
Diggs first big screen break was with the romance How Stella Got Her Groove Back in 1998. Hes been nonstop as an actor and writer ever since. In fact, in addition to all his work on screen, Diggs has also written four childrens books and founded a dance company. With all of his creative talent, its no wonder that he has worked on so many great movies and TV shows.

Exclusive: The Wolper Organization, the company behind the iconic Roots miniseries, is staying in business with Warner Bros. Television Group.
The two companies have renewed their overall deal, meaning that the company will have been in business with the studio for more than 50 years. It marks one of the longest consecutive studio deals in entertainment history.
The multiyear pact will see The Wolper Organization continue to develop and produce television series exclusively for the TV group, alongside its first-look feature deal with the movie studio.
Warner Bros. started working with The Wolper Organization, then run by David L. Wolper, in 1976 after Warner Communications bought it for $1.5M. It is behind three of the most successful limited series of all time: Roots, The Thorn Birds and North and South, was first to bring DC’s Superman franchise to TV and introduced viewers to the likes of Jacques Cousteau and Jane Goodall.

Actor Kevin Bacon celebrates his 61st birthday on July 8, 2019. He has worked steadily as an actor and appeared in so many different films that he actually spawned a trivia game called “Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon,” the purpose of which is to see if you can link Bacon to any other actor in less than six other movies.
Bacon started his career at the Circle in the Square Theater School in New York City, which then led to small roles in the immensely popular “Animal House” and in the Neil Simon film “Only When I Laugh.” He then appeared in the sleeper smash “Friday the 13th” where he was one of the early victims in the immensely popular series of films. Fame would come when he joined such other young actors as Steve Guttenberg, Daniel Stern, Ellen Barkin, Mickey Rourke, Tim Daly and Paul Reiser in the bittersweet comedy “Diner” from Barry Levinson.

Veteran TV director Thomas Schlamme has been re-elected president of the Directors Guild of America for a two-year term.
Schlamme was selected by the acclamation of 155 delegates at the DGA’s convention on Saturday at DGA headquarters in Los Angeles. DGA presidents typically serve for two two-year terms, as did Schlamme’s predecessor Paris Barclay. The DGA represents more than 18,000 members.
“It is my honor to once again accept the position of President of the Directors Guild of America,” said Schlamme. “It’s a privilege I don’t take lightly. We’re in a time of immense change, and the next few years will be critical for the DGA and for our industry. I am focused and ready to lead us through our next negotiations, and to ensure that the creative and economic rights of directors and their teams are protected for years to come.
