Lynne Marie Stewart, best known for her role as Miss Yvonne in Pee-wee's Playhouse and other projects featuring Paul Reubens' Pee-wee Herman, has passed away. She was 78 years old.

The news of Stewart's passing was announced by Cassandra Peterson, better known by her Elvira persona, in a post on Instagram. Peterson, who was friends with Stewart, shared an image with the caption noting, "My heart is breaking upon hearing the news of my dear friend Lynne Stewart’s passing. One of the kindest, sweetest, funniest women who ever lived. The iconic Miss Yvonne of Pee-wee’s Playhouse: She’ll always be 'the most beautiful woman in Puppetland.'”

The Only Main Actors Still Alive From The Munsters TV Series
Image
Don't call them The Addams Family: "The Munsters" may be remembered as one of two darkly funny monster family sitcoms airing in the 1960s, but it's decidedly not the same as its comic strip-based contemporary. "The Munsters," for one thing, pulled its monsters straight from the Universal back catalog, featuring characters based directly on Frankenstein, Dracula, and the Wolf Man. The series starred Fred Gwynne and Yvonne de Carlo as married couple Herman and Lily Munster, whose household consisted of an endearing vampire grandpa (Al Lewis), wolf-boy son (Butch Patrick), human niece (Beverley Owen and Pat Priest), and a whole host of spooky-fun pets including a bat, a cat, a raven, and a dragon-like reptile named Spot.

Despite its enduring spot in the zeitgeist, "The Munsters" actually only ran for two seasons from 1964 to 1966. It was capped off with a movie, "Munsters, Go Home!" that saw the family take a trip to Europe,...

1313: James Wan, Lindsey Anderson Beer developing a dark reimagining of The Munsters
Image
Pet Sematary: Bloodlines director Lindsey Anderson Beer has a whole lot of projects in the works at Paramount, from a new version of Sleepy Hollow to a film inspired by the American Girl toy brand – but that isn’t stopping her from teaming up with Universal Content Productions and genre regular James Wan (as well as his wife Ingrid Bisu) to develop a TV series called 1313, which is described as being a darker reimagining of the 1964 classic sitcom The Munsters. If 1313 gets a series order, Anderson Beer will be serving as the showrunner.

According to Deadline, 1313 will be “a horror series that plays on the Universal Monsterverse,” which makes sense, since the Munsters family included vampires, a little werewolf, and a version of Frankenstein’s Monster. As for the title of this new project, it comes from the fact that the Munsters lived in a house with the address 1313 Mockingbird Lane.

Yvonne De Carlo, Fred Gwynne, Al Lewis, Butch Patrick, and Pat Priest in Les monstres (1964)
The Munsters’ Revenge and Here Come the Munsters full movies available to watch on the official YouTube channel
Yvonne De Carlo, Fred Gwynne, Al Lewis, Butch Patrick, and Pat Priest in Les monstres (1964)
An official YouTube channel dedicated to the classic sitcom The Munsters and the franchise it spawned was launched three years ago, and as the years have gone by a whole lot of clips from the 1964 – 1966 show have been added to that channel. But now Universal has decided to go ahead and share a couple full movies on there as well: The Munsters’ Revenge from 1981 and Here Come the Munsters from 1995. Not only can both of those movies be viewed on the The Munsters channel, but they’re both embedded at the bottom of this article as well!

Directed by Don Weis from a script by Arthur Alsberg and Don Nelson, The Munsters’ Revenge reunites original sitcom stars Fred Gwynne, Yvonne De Carlo, and Al Lewis. The movie shows us what happens when Mad Dr. Diablo sends robot doubles of Herman and Grandpa Munster to steal art.

Gwynne, De Carlo, and Lewis play Herman,...

Rob Zombie
1995 TV Movie ‘Here Come The Munsters’ Uploaded in HD to Official “Munsters” YouTube Channel!
Rob Zombie
Long before Rob Zombie got his hands on the property, Robert Ginty sat in the director’s chair for Here Come The Munsters, a TV movie that made its debut back in 1995.

One of many re-interpretations of the beloved characters that came along in the wake of the original 1960s TV series, Here Come The Munsters featured all new actors in the iconic roles, with Edward Herrmann (The Lost Boys) playing Herman Munster, Veronica Hamel (Cannonball) as Lily Munster, and Robert Morse (The Loved One) as Grandpa Munster.

Telling the tale of the family’s trip from Transylvania to the United States, Here Come The Munsters aired on Fox on Halloween night in 1995, and the film has long been unavailable to watch outside of low quality, unofficial rips on YouTube. But to our surprise, the official Munsters YouTube channel just uploaded the entire movie in HD for the very first time!

“The Munsters” – Six Classic Monsters That Appeared in the Original Series and Movies
Image
The Munsters are, by design, a comedic reinvention of the classic monsters – Herman is Frankenstein’s monster, Lily is a vampire, Grandpa is Count Dracula, and Eddie is a werewolf – but other interpretations of iconic creatures occasionally made appearances.

Before TV’s first family of fright returns in Rob Zombie’s The Munsters, let’s look back at six classic monsters that have appeared in The Munsters Universe up to this point.

Creature from the Black Lagoon

Despite only appearing on screen for about a minute and a half, Uncle Gilbert is perhaps the most memorable member of the Munsters’ extended family. The reason is simple: he’s the Gill-man from the Creature from the Black Lagoon franchise.

In “Love Comes to Mockingbird Heights”, Uncle Gilbert sends the family 180,000 worth of gold doubloons from the old country for safekeeping until he arrives to visit. This inciting incident sets the plot in motion,...
