Each year, the Comic-Con International event hands out Inkpot Awards in recognition of the contributions various creators have made to their respective industries. This year, two of the Inkpots went to manga authors and artists Kenichi Sonoda and Hitoshi Ariga. Both creators were at San Diego Comic-Con already, taking part in an art demonstration panel. Dark Horse Manga is getting ready to bring a classic Kenichi Sonoda manga back in deluxe form with the upcoming release of the Gunsmith Cats Omnibus . The first volume comes in at nearly 600 pages and hits bookstores on February 4, 2025, followed by comic shops on February 5. Dana Lewis and Toren Smith handled translation for Gunsmith Cats , and the omnibus version features Studio Cutie's lettering and retouching work. Cult classic Ova, Riding Bean, by Kenichi Sonada, is re-releasing with English and Japanese dubs. Created in 1989 by Sonada and studio Aic, the anime boasts car chases and action scenes. Distributed by AnimeEigo, the Blu-Ray will offer English subtitles and extra features, available online.

Kenichi Sonada's cult-classic Ova, Riding Bean, is finally seeing re-release in modern formats. The beloved 1980s anime, which is being distributed by AnimeEigo, will see a release on September 10 as both a physical Blu-Ray disc currently open for pre-orders, as well as streaming services including Google Play, YouTube and Amazon.

Riding Bean, which was created in 1989 by Sonada of Gunsmith Cats fame and studio Aic, has seen limited releases in the past two decades, with DVDs last produced in 2002. The new Blu-Rays will boast both English and Japanese dubs, as well as English subtitles, along with extra features.

The HD presentation of the 45-minute Ova touches down on September 10, 2024, and is currently available to pre-order from MediaOCD for those who want to secure the exclusive slipcover. The Ova packs the original Japanese language track with English subtitles and the English dub. Bonus features include an image gallery, Blu-ray trailer and a new interview with Kenichi Sonoda. The digital release will be available via Tvod platforms such as Google Play, YouTube and Amazon.
