Sailor Moon fans are receiving an unfortunate update on what seemed like a promising release this February. The new home media release of the original anime film trilogy by Viz Media reportedly isn’t the authentic experience initially promised by the company.

In December 2024, a new Sailor Moon Blu-ray set listing became public online. This home media set was a collection of the first three Sailor Moon anime movies based on the first TV series from the 1990s. Sailor Moon R: The Movie, Sailor Moon S: The Movie and Sailor Moon SuperS: The Movie would be available together on a single disc instead of separately, for the retail price of $29.98.
