Oh, my!
This movie is one of my all time favourites! It's a great movie to spend on a rainy day - all 5.5 hours of it! :)
The acting is excellent and the characters are believable. It's easy to find one or more to relate to.
The scenery is wonderful, too, and really shows things the way they were back then. It does not show as much as some other versions of Jane Austen films do, but it shows that there was a definite class system and that people, for the most part, knew their place in the world. People did not question this, as a rule, and certain forms of etiquette were observed, according to class and place.
I'm not a person who's for a class system, but in the days of Jane Austen it worked, and I think that it definitely helps to add to the charm of her world and, in particular, this version of this beloved novel.
