Netflix has a couple of major series airing all or part of their final seasons in July 2024. The hit Spanish drama Elite is set to premiere its eighth and final season in full this month with one final mystery (July 26), Vikings: Valhalla is setting off on one final adventure with its third season (July 11), and Cobra Kai is also entering its swan song era with the first part of its final sixth season arriving on Netflix July 18.

The most notable movie offering this month is Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F (July 3). Thirty years after his last case, Eddie Murphy returns as the titular detective Axel Foley, teaming up with old pals Billy Rosewood (Judge Reinhold) and Taggart (John Ashton) to uncover a conspiracy and keep his daughter Jane (Taylour Paige) safe.

On the June 25 episode of “America’s Got Talent,” the judges will meet L6, a Filipino family singing group who flew to the United States in order to fulfill their “late mother’s dream” of performing on NBC’s reality TV show. One of the most acclaimed movies of 2023 is coming home: A24 has announced that "The Iron Claw" will be available on Blu-ray and DVD next month. But for those who aren't committed to picking up a physical copy of the film, it is also available to rent on VOD from a variety of digital retailers right now. So there are plenty of options, with even more on the way in the coming months (we'll get to that in a moment).

A24's wrestling drama about the Von Erichs "The Iron Claw" (read /Film's review here) is currently available to rent from retailers such as Apple TV+, Google Play, Amazon Prime Video, and YouTube, among others. It is priced at $19.99 for a 48-hour rental, which is the standard premium VOD price that studios began running with a few years ago. That price typically drops several weeks after the initial Digital release date.

Mike Portnoy has opened up about reuniting with Dream Theater after 13 years away from the band. The drummer detailed the steps that went into his return to the veteran prog-metal act, including “reconnecting with [singer] James Labrie.”

NBC has announced that last year’s winner of “America’s Got Talent,” The Mayyas, will return to the reality TV show that made them a household name during Wednesday night’s Season 18 finale. The Lebanese dance group will deliver a special performance on the live show, and so will all of these Hollywood A-listers: chef and TV personality Cat Cora, award-winning songwriter Diane Warren, pop and R&b icon Jason Derulo, award-winning musician Jon Batiste and multi-platinum-selling band Thirty Seconds to Mars.

The two-night “AGT” finale will air on Tuesday, September 26 (performance show) and Wednesday, September 27 (results show). This is when the road to the $1 million grand prize finally wraps up. The winner will also be given the chance to join the “America’s Got Talent Presents Superstars Live” at Luxor Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

Following up a hint Simon Cowell dropped a few weeks ago live on air, “America’s Got Talent” has now officially confirmed that it will debut its latest spin-off in 2024. The new series, titled “AGT: Fantasy League,” will feature Simon, Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum, and the return of Mel B as “coaches” of four different fantasy teams of former “AGT” contestants in the ultimate fan favorite showdown. Terry Crews is slated to once again return for hosting duties.

The new spin-off will differ from previous ones — “All Stars,” “Champions” and “Extreme” — in that for the first time the judges will draft a roster of acts that they will compete alongside throughout the season, similar to the way a season of “The Voice” progresses. During the September 19 episode of “America’s Got Talent,” things got spicy at the judges’ table when Simon Cowell scolded the show’s producers on live television. It all started when Howie Mandel pressed Heidi Klum‘s red X during the vocal performance of “Who You Are” by Nashville singing duo Trailer Flowers. Being a live show, the actual button push wasn’t caught on camera, but when host Terry Crews came out to clarify what happened, the producers played a clip of Howie sneakily pressing Heidi’s red buzzer. “I would not press my buzzer in the semi-finals,” Howie falsely declared, despite the proof being shown on camera. Of course, Howie was not being completely genuine because he had previously X’ed Phil Wright & Parent Jam, Sharpe Family Singers and Ray Wold & Mom during this season’s live shows, and received some flack for it online.

Host Terry Crews welcomed viewers back to the show along with judges Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel and Sofia Vergara. But who were the best acts from this episode? One of the most talked-about acts to come out of this year’s “America’s Got Talent” auditions is Putri Ariani, thanks in no small part to Simon Cowell blessing her with his Season 18 Golden Buzzer. All these months later, Simon is reflecting on the 17-year-old blind singer/songwriter’s audition at the piano and he’s expecting big things for her in this competition. “I would be amazed if she’s not either the winner or the runner-up. I mean, that’s who I put my money on,” he reveals in the NBC video above.

Putri came all the way from Indonesia to show the world her talent, and she performed two songs on the big stage: “Loneliness” and “Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word.” “There was something about her, even before she started to sing,” Simon now declares. “I just — I had a feeling. And I’ve done this a long time.

“America’s Got Talent” continued its 18th season on July 11 with a sixth episode of auditions. In a recent poll, we asked fans who was their favorite among the acts that performed for judges Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum and Sofia Vergara in “AGT” Auditions 6. Not present in the poll was the night’s Golden Buzzer recipient, singer Lavender Darcangelo chosen by Heidi. On the upcoming June 13 episode of “America’s Got Talent,” a nonverbal comedian named Ahren Belisle will have the audience and judges Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum and Sofia Vergara laughing out loud with his unique style of humor. The 28-year-old engineer with cerebral palsy has only been performing comedy for a year, ever since he tried out in Portugal and “made all the comics laugh.” He uses a text-to-speech app in his routine, and his service dog is “trained to go for the vocal cords” if anyone heckles him. Wayne Conley (The Best Man) penned the TV adaptation for the project from Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment, Wendi Trilling’s TrillTV and CBS Studios. Based on the popular comic strip that debuted in 1989, JumpStart is set in Philadelphia and follows Joseph L. Cobb (Crews), a cop, his wife Marcy, a nurse, and Joe’s partner Crunchy.

Crews’ Joe Cobb is a devoted husband, son, father and Philadelphia police officer. He is also a proud Black man and often feels pressured to be flawless in each of his roles, especially in light of controversies surrounding cops.

Veteran hard-rock act Extreme have announced their first new studio album in 15 years. The band’s sixth LP overall is appropriately titled Six, and features the just-released raw rocker “Rise” as the first single.

Extreme — featuring Gary Cherone (vocals), Nuno Bettencourt (guitar), Pat Badger (bass), and Kevin Figueiredo (drums) — will release Six on June 9th via earMUSIC.

Chapel Hart took the stage for the last time on Tuesday night as they sang for America’s votes during the “America’s Got Talent” finale performance show. The Mississippi country trio admitted “song choice is probably everything” when host Terry Crews asked them how they planned on standing out from the crowd.
