Jimmy Karz, who played Bruce Bogtrotter in Matilda, retired from acting in 1998 and focused on service-oriented work, including community gardening and teaching people from low-income communities how to grow their own food. Karz reunited with the original Matilda cast in 2013 for an Afternoon Tea Matilda Reunion. He participated in a reenactment of the famous cake scene and looked quite different compared to his childhood appearance. Karz's interest in biology and chemistry led him to study biochemistry and eventually graduate from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. Today, he works as a doctor, combining his passion for science with a desire to combat poor health.
