Director Gavin Hood is no stranger to anticipation and spectacle. He has had a nicely eclectic career moving from an actor in Kickboxer 5 to directing the Oscar-winning Tsoti in just ten years.
He took a lot of criticism for his entry in the X-Men cinematic universe with the Wolverine Origin story and there’s a similar level of anticipation for his next film, the grand sci-fi epic Ender’s Game.
James Kleinmann got to sit down with the director to talk about the film, you can see that below.

Just hours after we reported that Jean-Claude Van Damme's 1988 breakout hit Bloodsport is getting remade by Relativity Media, Radar Pictures is developing a reboot of the action star's 1989 thriller Kickboxer.
Hong Kong filmmaker Stephen Fung (Tai Chi Hero) has signed on to direct, working from a screenplay by Jim McGrath and Dimitri Logothetis. The original Kickboxer centered on Kurt Sloane (Jean-Claude Van Damme), who trains in the art of Muay Thai kickboxing to take on a brutal champion who severely injured his brother.
Dimitri Logothetis is also producing alongside Radar's Ted Field and Nick Celozzi, with Mike Weber and Peter Meyer executive producing. Casting is currently under way, with the filmmakers hoping to get production started either this fall or in early 2014.
Kickboxer spawned four straight-to-video sequels, none of which starred Jean-Claude Van Damme. Sasha Mitchell starred in Kickboxer 2: The Road Back (1991), Kickboxer 3: The Art of War...

The Expendables may have boasted a stellar line-up of 80s action stars, but that doesn’t mean we can’t hope for even more of them in its sequel. Here are Ron’s suggestions…
The Expendables isn't out just yet as I write this, but I have no doubt that it's going to be a huge hit. Well, okay, maybe it won't be a huge hit, but like Sly Stallone's return to his Rambo roots, it's going to do really well.
I mean, it's basically every major action movie star (and some minor action movie stars) from the 80s all in the same film. However, there were some shameful omissions that can be added to the mix for The Expendables 2.
I'm not talking about high profile omissions, like Jean-Claude Van Damme or Steven Crotchkicker Seagal, though those guys would be awesome to have in The Expendables universe. I'm talking about...
