Inga Swenson, the two-time Tony-nominated singer and actress who as the dictatorial German cook Gretchen Kraus sparred with Robert Guillaume‘s character on the 1980s ABC sitcom Benson, has died. She was 90.

Swenson died Sunday night of natural causes in hospice care in Los Angeles, her son, Mark Harris, told The Hollywood Reporter.

Swenson also sparkled in two critically acclaimed 1962 films released seven weeks apart — as the mother of Helen Keller (Patty Duke) in Arthur Penn’s The Miracle Worker (1962) and as the wife of a U.S. senator with a dark secret (Don Murray) in Otto Preminger’s political thriller Advise & Consent (1962).

On the strength of those performances, the Nebraska native — no, she was not born in Germany — was cast in 1963 as the spinster Lizzy in 110 in the Shade, based on N. Richard Nash’s play The Rainmaker. She received a Tony nomination for best actress in a musical for that performance,...

Exclusive: U.S. distributor Screen Media has acquired international rights to a substantial part of the Moonstone Entertainment library with a 10-year exclusive deal.

A new dramatic series revolving around China’s battle against the Covid-19 pandemic is featured in the market screenings of Singapore’s Asia TV Forum (Atf). The series takes pride of place as part of the Middle Kingdom’s most elaborate presence at virtual markets this year.

“With You” is a 20-episode anthological drama series featuring 10 fact-based stories about Chinese civilians’ battle against the coronavirus outbreak, said organizers. An on-demand industry preview is featured at the online fair which runs from December 1 to 4.

The series, produced by Shanghai Media Group, Youhug Media and Smg Pictures, is part of the pavilion’s “Focus on China” presentation, which organizers said is the first of its kind as a title brand sponsor, and marks “the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Singapore. Six events including the market screening of “With You” and presentations of other fresh content, will take place under the banner.

Singer Jessica Simpson has revealed in her memoir that her former beau, the singer John Mayer, was "obsessed" with her "sexually and emotionally".

In her upcoming memoir "Open Book", Simpson wrote about what she learned about herself from her relationships, including her romance with Mayer whom she met in early 2005 at a Grammy party.
