Abir Gulaal: Iftda, Fwice Threaten Action Over Fawad Khan’s Casting After Pahalgam Terror Attack
Image
Iftda Abir Gulaal Protest(Photo Credit –Instagram)

The Indian Film & Television Directors’ Association (Iftda) has opposed the upcoming film Abir Gulaal, which stars Pakistani actor Fawad Khan and Bollywood’s Vaani Kapoor. The film was triggered after the recent Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu & Kashmir, which killed innocent people, mostly tourists. As the nation mourns, tempers are flaring, and the entertainment industry is being pulled into the eye of the storm.

Ashoke Pandit Speaks Out – “Working with Pakistani Artists Is Unacceptable”

Criticism intensified by casting Pakistani actor Fawad Khan in ‘Abir Gulaal‘ at this time when things were so dicey between India and Pakistan. Ashoke Pandit, who is the President of the Indian Film & Television Directors’ Association (Iftda), had no hesitation in using words to condemn it.

He told Hindustan Times, “This incident is an act of war against the nation. This isn’t the first time…these attacks have been ongoing for 30 years.

John Mulaney Jokes Parenting a Toddler Is a Lot Like Working for Ellen DeGeneres: ‘If He Stops Dancing, You F–king Stop Dancing’
Image
In an effort describe what parenting a toddler is like, comedian and actor John Mulaney compared the undertaking to the experience crew members allegedly had while working on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”

“You know what having a 3-year-old is like?” Mulaney, a father of two children, asked his “Everybody’s Live With John Mulaney” viewers on Wednesday night’s show. “Having a 3-year-old is what I imagine working on Ellen DeGeneres’ show was like. Because people come over and they’re like, ‘How is it?’ And you’re, like, ‘Oh, it’s fine. You know, we have fun. There’s games.'”

He carried on with the joke: “We have dancing, you know. So if he starts dancing, you dance. But if he stops dancing, you f—king stop dancing right away.”

Mulaney, who shares a 3-year-old son and 7-month-old daughter with his wife, actress Olivia Munn, was poking fun at...

Jason Statham Fans Get an Amazing Streaming Surprise
Image
Jason Statham has been delighting audiences with his action films for many years. The actor has starred in many high-grossing films, yet his latest release made a surprising move.

In 2025, Statham released A Working Man, his second collab with director David Ayer, following the release of the successful 2024 action film The Beekeeper. Their second action film came out in theaters on Mar. 28, and, while it was not a hit with the critics, the audiences enjoyed it. However, per Forbes, not even a month later, A Working Man is already available on digital.

A Working Man hit digital streaming via video on demand on Apr. 15. The action film is available now on several digital platforms, including AppleTV, Fandango at Home, and Prime Video. A Working Man is available for $24.99 to purchase or $19.99 for a 48-hour rental.

The release strategy is surprising because movies usually wait around 45 days after their theatrical release to send them on digital,...

What Happened To The Cast Of The Princess Bride?
Image
With a legacy spanning decases, it's still inconceivable that anyone could dislike "The Princess Bride." Released in 1987, the fantasy romantic comedy was written by William Goldman (already a two-time Academy Award-winner for his work on "All the President's Men" and "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid"), directed by Rob Reiner (then best known for directing "Stand By Me" the year prior), and featured a miraculously stacked cast. Though it did just okay at the box office, the film has since become a cult classic that -- in large part through the continued success of this cast -- retroactively vindicates those who were early champions of its brilliance.

Whether senior actor or child star, veteran of the screen or relative newcomer, everyone with a role in the core ensemble of "The Princess Bride" brings something wildly unexpected to their individual role no matter how small. Incidentally, the vast majority of these...

'A Working Man' Isn’t the First Jason Statham-Sylvester Stallone Collab
Image
It's almost impossible to talk about action movies without mentioning Jason Statham and Sylvester Stallone. They're both bankable stars who have left a large legacy in their genre, so it's no surprise the two have worked together multiple times. Their most recent collaboration is on the 2025 Statham film A Working Man, which Stallone wrote and produced. Stallone is no stranger to screenwriting, having written the Oscar-winning film Rocky. He's no stranger to writing for Statham either, as he wrote the screenplay for Statham's 2013 movie Homefront.

Stallone Made Statham a DEA Agent in 'Homefront'

In Homefront, Jason Statham plays Phil Broker, a retired DEA agent and single dad living in Louisiana. Phil's daughter, Maddy, fights one of her classmates, and when Phil is called to Maddy's school to talk about it, the classmate's father tries to fight Phil. Phil beats the father, and in retaliation, the father's wife calls her brother,...

“Snow White” Faces 68% Drop Off For Second Weekend
Image
Things aren’t looking good for “Snow White” heading into its second weekend. Early reports indicate that the film dropped by 68% when compared to last Friday’s box office.

The film has just moved over $100 million globally, reaching $100.2 million, but it’s not enough to save it from a dreaded “box office flop” status.

“Snow White” also looks to be in second place for the domestic box office this weekend.

To make matters worse, the $270 million (before marketing and theatrical cuts) is coming in behind “Working Man,” which only cost $40 million to produce.

“Working Man” is estimated to reach around $15-$16 million, while “Snow White” is estimated to reach $13-$14 million in its second weekend.

A $13-$14 million second weekend is bad for a Disney film, especially at the cost of this film, meaning Disney could lose $250-$300 million at this rate.

“Working Man” rated higher than “Snow White”

Currently,...

‘A Working Man’ Review: Jason Statham Actioner Could Have Worked Smarter, Not Harder
Image
There was good reason to look forward to “A Working Man,” as it reunites Jason Statham with director David Ayer immediately after the pair had made the action star’s best movie in years, 2024’s “The Beekeeper.” Statham is dependably entertaining and Ayer has made some genuinely good films, including the nightmarishly tense “End of Watch.” Perhaps one day the director’s cut of “Suicide Squad” will rescue that film’s reputation.

But while “Beekeeper” was unhinged fun, eliciting cheers at Statham’s character’s creative ways of dispatching baddies, “Working Man” has different aims. And is, alas, significantly less fun.

It’s based on the Levon Cade novel series by veteran Batman and Punisher comics writer Chuck Dixon (the book in question is actually titled “Levon’s Trade: A Vigilante Justice Thriller”). The adaptation, by Statham’s “Expendables” costar and scripter Sylvester Stallone (who also wrote Statham’s “Homefront”) and Ayer,...

By Design Sundance Review — A Bizarre and Utterly Unique Feminist Genre Picture
Image
Amanda Kramer made quite a splash with her last narrative film, Please Baby Please, and her latest movie, By Design, is an even more ambitious swing that landed it a spot in the Next competition at the Sundance Film Festival. By Design will hook viewers with its wacky concept, only to put them off with its dry tone, but its thematic richness will lend itself to intriguing analysis.

By Design Review

By Design tells the story of a woman who envies a chair so much that she endeavors to swap bodies with it. Although it may be billed as a “twist on the body swap genre,” don’t come into By Design expecting something akin to a quirkier version of Freaky Friday. It’s actually something much more intellectual and weird than you’d imagine it to be, even if you are a fan of Kramer’s past work.

A Mother’s Contentment Is Thrown Off-Balance When Her Daughter Returns Home in Lily Weisberg’s Drama ‘Working Summer’
Image
Mother/daughter relationships are an important cornerstone of cinematic storytelling. But one type of maternal representation we don’t usually see portrayed on screen is that of the mother whose life is flourishing in the wake of their child leaving the nest. It’s a fascinating notion and one that lies at the centre of Lily Weisberg’s drama Working Summer. The plot of Weisberg’s film centres on Nora who returns home to Upstate New York where he mother has embraced a life centred around basketweaving. To Nora’s surprise, her mother isn’t wallowing in the loss of her departure but instead has found a sense of fulfilment in her low-stakes existence. Working Summer has certainly marked Weisberg as one to watch on Dn’s radar and if you’re a fan of Sofia Coppola or Kelly Reichardt, we recommend you check out her work too, starting with this short,...

However, the co-heads did announce the TV show Paradise Lost, and Diana Prince had a significant role in that.

There had been a rumor that Gunn wants this The Crown star to play the role of the Amazonian princess in the new DC Universe, taking over Gal Gadot. The Israeli actress received a lot of love and admiration as Wonder Woman in the former Dcu. She made her first appearance in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. The study was funded by BBC drama commissioning, Screen Scotland and the Film and TV Charity and was undertaken before the US labour strikes last year.

While shorter days would lengthen production and post-production by around two weeks, the report indicated...

‘Anatomy of a Fall’ Wins Best Film at 2023 European Film Awards
Image
Justine Triet’s acclaimed French courtroom drama Anatomy of a Fall has won best film at the 2023 European Film Awards, held Saturday evening, Dec. 9 in Berlin.

Sandra Hüller, a double nominee in the best actress category, won for her barnstorming turn in Anatomy of a Fall as a writer who may have killed her husband.

Accepting her prize, Hüller, speaking to the various conflicts raging in and around Europe at the moment, called for a moment of silence from the audience to “silently, strongly, vividly, imagine peace.”

Justine Triet took the best directing honor for Anatomy and shared the best screenplay honor with Arthur Harari for their joint script to the twisty murder mystery. A couple in real life, Triet and Harari said writing the script, which is a piercing dissection of a marriage in crisis, “put our relationship to the test but thankfully we survived.”

‘The Beanie Bubble’ Review: Zach Galifianakis Leads a Modest Comedy About History’s Biggest Toy Craze
Image
As cute and understuffed as the plushies alluded to by its title, Kristin Gore and Damian Kulash, Jr.’s “The Beanie Bubble” is a dramatic comedy born from the collision between two different fads: The Beanie Baby mania of the late ’90s, and the corporate biopic craze of the early 2020s.

Like “Air,” “Barbie,” “Blackberry,” and “Tetris” before it (remember when they made a movie about the thrilling race to patent “Tetris?”), this Apple TV+ original uses a footnote in the recent history of North American capitalism as the backdrop for a character-driven saga about the nature of success. And like several of those aforementioned stories of riches gained and/or lost, “The Beanie Bubble” ultimately says more about the state of the film business than it does any other. It says that we used to tell stories about people, but now we’d rather tell stories about products — even...

Harrison Ford Is at His Most Charming in This 80s Rom Com
Image
Harrison Ford’s cinematic career reached new heights in the 1980s, where he delivered memorable performances as Indiana Jones, Han Solo, and Rick Deckard. But amidst these era-defining movies, Ford also starred in a less well-known romantic comedy alongside Melanie Griffith and Sigourney Weaver. Working Girl (1988) foregrounds the lovable and comedic side to Ford that we only catch glimpses of in his other major appearances of the decade. The role of Jack Trainer, a dashing mergers and acquisitions associate, shows Ford at his most charming, where his performance transforms this movie into a classic of the genre.

“I know there are many studios and streamers who feel a little bit embattled and there’s been a little bit too much of a glut of product and they’re looking at their bottom line and their experiencing shareholder pressure,” Obama said, “but the fact is, is that they wouldn’t be around if it weren’t for writers creating the stories that matter. My hope is that as somebody who’s really supportive of the Writers Guild and as someone who just believes in storytelling and the craft of it,...

Image
Former President Barack Obama opened Netflix’s livestream event for his new docuseries, “Working: What We Do All Day,” on Thursday with a more aggressive statement of support for the Writers Guild of America (WGA) than what he initially said in solidarity with the ongoing writers strike.

People trying to find work that’s satisfying, people trying to pay the bills,” Obama said. “Unfortunately one of the things that’s also been constant is the struggle for people to make sure their employers are treating them fairly and they’re getting...

U.K. Industry to Continue On-Set Covid Protocols as Pandemic Restrictions Are Lifted in England, Northern Ireland
Image
While the U.K. is set to shed the last of its pandemic restrictions — including the requirement to self-isolate if testing positive for Covid-19 — the film and TV industry will continue to abide by Covid protocols for now, Variety has confirmed.

Part of the reason for this is because the end to pandemic restrictions will not be universally implemented across all four nations of the U.K. While the rules on self-isolation lift in England and Northern Ireland from Thursday (Feb. 24), in Scotland and Wales it remains enshrined in law that anyone testing positive for Covid-19 must self-isolate.

The British Film Commission (Bfc) says that while it plans to update its “Working Safely During Covid-19 in Film and High-end TV Drama Production” from Thursday to incorporate the changes to self-isolation rules, it will include the government’s guidance that anyone testing positive in England and Northern Ireland is still “advised” to self-isolate,...
