Spoiler Alert: Details follow for Season 13, Episode 6 of “The Masked Singer,” “Grand Ole Opry Night,” which aired March 19 on Fox.
I don’t want to wait, for this episode to be over. I want to know right now who will it be… and indeed, it was “Dawson’s Creek” star James Van Der Beek. The Beek was the latest celebrity to be unmasked Wednesday on Fox’s hit music competition series, having performed as Griffin.
Van Der Beek was eliminated after singing John Denver’s “Take Me Home (Country Roads).” During the episode, he alluded to his recent colorectal cancer diagnosis: “Recently, we got some news that changed everything. It’s been a really tough year. But fortunately, we’ve been able to face this challenge together, in our home. I would not have gotten through all of this without them. Scream 7 started filming at the start of January, and we’ve seen some surprising reports about the slasher sequel as it has made its way through production – with the most surprising and strange news being that Matthew Lillard and Scott Foley, who played Ghostface killers who were killed off in Scream (1996) and Scream 3, respectively, and David Arquette, whose beloved character Dewey lost his life in Scream (2022), are all in the cast. During an appearance on Good Morning America, Foley admitted that, like many Scream fans, he isn’t sure how his return actually works.
Foley said, with thanks to Deadline for the transcription, “I don’t know how it works out. Spoiler alert! 25 years ago I was the killer in Scream 3 and he was brutally taken to town and killed. And now I’m back in Scream 7 and I’m not sure how it’s going to work.

When it began airing in March of 1997 on The WB, "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" was a show that delighted in throwing its audience for a loop, starting with the title. For those who had neither seen nor heard of the 1992 horror-comedy of the same name, the show was an unexpected blend of supernatural action and high-school angst. On one hand, we have the Slayer, a person with almost inexplicable power and strength whose job is to keep the forces of evil at bay. On the other hand, that Slayer is a teenage girl named Buffy Summers who seems like she would be more at home on a cheerleading squad than she is in patrolling local graveyards to take down any members of the undead.
After moving to the seemingly quiet and pleasant town of Sunnydale, California, Buffy soon realizes that it's actually positioned on the edge of the Hellmouth, a...

James Van Der Beek has been diagnosed with colorectal cancer.
The veteran actor himself revealed as much via an interview with People Magazine.
“I have colorectal cancer. I’ve been privately dealing with this diagnosis and have been taking steps to resolve it, with the support of my incredible family,” the 47-year old said, adding:
“There’s reason for optimism, and I’m feeling good.”

Colorectal cancer — which starts in the colon or the rectum — is one of the most serious forms of this awful illness.
We aren’t privy to the details in Van Der Beek’s case, but the five-year survival rate is around 64 percent overall.

One of Netflix's biggest hit original series in recent years is "Outer Banks," which premiered in 2020 and ran for five seasons. Set in the scenic beach towns of North Carolina, the series blended coming-of-age drama, along with romance and action, elevated by its young, charismatic main cast. "Outer Banks" reinvigorated teen dramas and thrillers, but the genre has been a television staple for decades. With that in mind, there are countless shows like "Outer Banks" for fans looking to find the series' effective soap operatic stakes elsewhere.
From shows set in other picturesque locations around the country or featuring cool, stylish characters in a cycle of love and betrayal, there are plenty of teen dramas to watch. What links these series are young, impossibly beautiful main characters, often thrust into melodramatic storylines that grow increasingly ludicrous. For fans of the genre, they wouldn't have these teen and young adult shows any other way.

Scream 3's infamous Ghostface resoundingly met his maker at the hands of Neve Campbell and company in the classic 2000 film, so it came as a surprise to many horror fans when the news broke that Scott Foley would return for director Kevin Williamson’s Scream 7. In fact, Foley himself is as confused as the fandom is when it comes to how his character, Roman Bridger, will return from the dead.
Regardless, the Felicity and Scandal actor tried to coyly answer that burning question during a new interview while appearing on Good Morning America by saying:
"That's a great question, and I'm willing to take a poll here and someone can explain it to me, because I don't know how it works out. Yeah, my character, I was the — Spoiler Alert 25 years ago — I was the killer in 'Scream 3', and he was brutally taken to town and killed.

Scott Foley teased his return to the Scream franchise for the seventh installment despite his character’s death.
Foley’s first film credit was in 2000’s Scream 3 where he played the role of Roman Bridger, who turns out to be the serial killer and is killed off in the end. The actor returns for Scream VII and in an appearance on Good Morning America he teased his character’s return.
“I don’t know how it works out,” Foley said about returning to the franchise. “Spoiler alert! 25 years ago I was the killer in Scream 3 and he was brutally taken to town and killed. And now I’m back in Scream 7 and I’m not sure how it’s going to work.”
Foley said that reuniting with his former co-stars was “the best,” adding, “It’s so much fun and I got to see Neve [Campbell] again and David Arquette again.

Scream 7 is set to bring back several dead characters, including Scott Foley's Roman Bridger, much to the confusion of the fandom. Fortunately, Foley is just as confused as the fans over how his Scream 3 killer will return in the slasher sequel.

Joshua Jackson was 15 years old when he first appeared in The Mighty Ducks film series. The actor recently recalled how co-star Emilio Estevez's advice helped him appreciate success as a celebrity.
Speaking on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Jackson said he was still "just a child" in 1992's The Mighty Ducks, one of that decade's feel-good sports comedies. "Emilio gave me a ton of great advice," he recalled. "I learned how to be on set from [him]." He noted one incident that would have led to a bad turn in his career, if Estevez hadn't intervened. In The Mighty Ducks, Jackson played Charlie Conway, a youth hockey team's hotshot rookie who learns the true meaning of winning by the end of the film.
Jackson said his behavior behind the scenes resembled his conceited character in the first movie. After filming a scene for the 1994 sequel, D2: The Mighty Ducks, he remembered...

When picking the next show to cover, I always ask myself: what’s something I used to watch that people either loved or completely forgot about—but should still love? This time, it’s Dark Angel. When I mentioned Dark Angel to someone, they immediately assumed I meant a different show. “No,” I said, “the one with Jessica Alba.” She was great in Idle Hands, but Dark Angel? That was something else. Honestly, I’m a little surprised I even watched it back then.
James Cameron—who needs no introduction—teamed up with Charles H. Eglee to make Dark Angel his first big project under his production company. Eglee, of course, is best known for Piranha 2… sure, he’s done other things, but for the sake of this episode, that’s the only credit that matters. Another season of The Masked Singer brings time for guessing. Group B in season 13 is packed with some great celebrities and clue packages, and we’re breaking one of them down right now. It’s all about Griffin.
The panelists think they have an idea of who is under the mask. Rita Ora couldn’t decide between Matthew Lilliard and Freddie Prinze Jr. due to the scary movie connection, while Jenny guessed David Arquette for a similar reason. The horror connection may be something, but there was a line in the clue package that gave me a clue.
Could Griffin by a Dawson’s Creek star?
The “School’s Out” clue certainly initially seems to connect to a Saved By the Bell star, and you may think Mark-Paul Gosselaar at first. To be honest, there are a couple of other clues that seem to connect to him, such as his fast...

The Batman villain Harley Quinn made her debut on the "Batman: The Animated Series" episodes "Joker's Favor", where she was voiced by actress Arleen Sorkin. The character was envisioned as a clown-like moll for the Joker, and was given a ditzy personality and a broad Noo Yawk accent. She proved to be so popular that she was eventually incorporated into Batman comic books, and soon grew to have titles of her own. Over the years, Harley Quinn has appeared in multiple TV shows and movies, most recently played in live-action by Lady Gaga in "Joker: Folie à Deux."
Fun trivia: Harley Quinn was actually preceded by a very, very similar character called Prank (Corinne Bohrer), a clown-like moll to a very Joker-like villain named the Trickster (Mark Hamill) on a 1991 episode of "The Flash." Whether or not the makers of "Batman: The Animated Series" were aware of Prank is a matter of speculation.

The Vampire Diaries follows in the footsteps of many previous teen legacies. Scream and Dawson's Creek writer Kevin Williamson was the creative force behind the vampire romance, in tandem with his co-creator Julie Plec. The first few seasons of the series fire on all cylinders, combining horror, love, and high school drama. The Vampire Diaries lasted an impressive eight seasons and gave birth to two spin-offs, The Originals and Legacies, before the franchise ended officially.
The good years didn't last forever, sadly, and some plot points didn't measure up to the golden years of the show. Despite the dynamic chemistry between vampire brothers Damon and Stefan Salvatore and captivating performances from Candice King and Kat Graham as Caroline and Bonnie, respectively, not all characters measured up. Upon rewatch, many characters strike a nerve in the worst way possible.

"Toto, I've a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore," Dorothy famously stated in a movie quote considered the fourth greatest ever by the American Film Institute. No, Dorothy, you're not -- you're in Hollywood! With a population just shy of three million, the entire state of Kansas has less residents than New York City and Los Angeles, while it's just a hair above Chicago. Yet when it comes to the movies, "The Wheat State" punches far above its weight, with cinematic representation including Academy Award winners, blockbusters, and even films that have joined the hallowed ranks of the National Film Registry. What gives?
Perhaps it's because filmmakers consider the 34th state the perfect great plains state, with its waving wheat fields and endless horizons. More than anything, maybe it's the welcoming Kansas culture of "midwest nice" that has never met a stranger. Whatever the reason, "The Sunflower State" has proven...

Thousands of people were affected by January’s Los Angeles wildfires that devastated The Palisades and the Altadena areas of California, including the actress who voices Roz the robot in last year’s hit animated feature The Wild Robot.Lupita Nyong’o, who also recently appeared in A Quiet Place: Day One, told Entertainment Weekly that she has not been able to go home since the fires.
The topic was brought up as the actress was talking about a forest fire scene in The Wild Robot. Nyong’o said she hasn’t really thought about that sequence in the film because she has been “dealing with my real life and my displacement.”

Movies really do seem like magic sometimes. They bring fantasy worlds to life, there are people who look like Ana de Armas, and they occasionally accomplish feats of cinematography that seem to defy physics. But like everything else in movies, including Ana de Armas, it’s just the result of clever trickery.
5 Dawson’s Creek
In 2023, a scene from an episode of Dawson’s Creek of James van der Beek throwing a basketball in Joshua Jackson’s face went viral after a Twitter user realized the ball appears to bounce from Jackson’s face into the camera and away into the distance. How did they do it? How could they get the angle just right and not damage the camera? Was it CGI? Two shots cut together? According to Jackson, it was sheer luck. It was also a painted beach ball, so that’s how the camera held up. As Jackson further pointed out,...

Ah, the classic high school series. With characters and storylines that attempt to relate to the average teenage experience, the best high school series makes an effort to connect with its audience. From the 90s cheese of Beverly Hills, 90210, and Dawson's Creek to the more broody The O.C. in the early 2000s, teen shows have dominated the screen for decades.

Heading into the seventh season of “All American,” series showrunner Nkechi Okoro Carroll was nervous. The pressure was on to make a dynamic and addicting series about a group of young people trying to achieve the impossible, only this time around, The CW original had to do it without their leading character, Daniel Ezra’s Spencer James.
“The challenge was, are we going to find characters that we care about?” Carroll told TheWrap. Starring relatively unknown actors in a genre that seemed to be on its way out, The Vampire Diaries was an unabashed hit for The CW. Based on the L.J. Smith series of books by the same name, the supernatural romance aired in 2009, spinning its stars, Nina Dobrev and Paul Wesley, into the spotlight. The Vampire Diaries came from the mind of Dawson's Creek and Scream writer Kevin Williamson, who teamed up with his creative partner Julie Plec. Williamson's history writing for teen dramas helped the series, making Elena Gilbert's struggle with grief and love for two vampire brothers a gripping tale of humanity.
The Vampire Diaries became so popular that the original series did not slow down for one moment. Even after Williamson retired from the series, more heartfelt stories kept cropping up. The spin-off The Originals follows Klaus Mikaelson's trials with his family in New Orleans, and the follow-up,...

Can I let you all in on a little secret?
I watched the entirety of Xo, Kitty Season 2, and by the time the credits rolled, I had forgotten everything important that had happened.
It genuinely sucks when that happens, but it’s worse when it’s something that happens with a show that genuinely has great potential.
(Park Young-Sol/Netflix) Xo, Kitty is One of the Few Teen Series in a Disappearing Market
One of the biggest takeaways from Xo, Kitty is that the season came to a quick end by the time it started to find its rhythm, which sums up the series itself.
Kitty is a cute and fun teen protagonist in an age that lacks them.

Be they a comic book antihero, supernatural vigilante, troubled teen, or male ingenue in a daytime soap, nobody plays these characters quite like actor Jensen Ackles. The television star has enjoyed a career at the forefront of some of the most popular genre projects in TV history, thanks in large part to his hard-earned professional relationships with The CW and producer Eric Kripke.
Following 15 seasons of the fantasy adventure series "Supernatural" and a lauded season-long arc on the Amazon Prime Video comic book romp "The Boys," Ackles is on the precipice of yet another exciting chapter in his career. Before the upcoming releases of the fifth and final season of "The Boys," its highly-anticipated spin-off series, or the Derek Haas crime drama "Countdown," we're taking a look back at his most memorable films and television shows thus far -- ranking them by quality, impact on Ackles' career, and overall showcasing of his talent.

The best Chad Michael Murray movies and TV shows include a mix of young adult releases, and in recent years, more adult drama fare. Murray got his start as an actor after he graduated from high school and won a modeling scholarship, which helped him pick up an agent. He moved to California and quickly earned a role in the MTV drama series Undressed. This helped lead to his breakout role on The Gilmore Girls as Tristin DuGray.
After another recurring role in Dawson’s Creek, Murray’s popularity exploded when he grabbed one of the leading roles in One Tree Hill. This also led to several film roles, mostly in young adult movies like Freaky Friday and A Cinderella Story. He hasn’t slowed down since aging out of many of those young adult releases, earning some great roles in movies like Fruitvale Station and TV shows like Marvel’s Agent Carter and Sullivan’s Crossing.

The 1990s was a wonderful decade for television, introducing fans to some of the most popular sitcoms ever, many of which have spawned sequels and remakes today. Networks like the CW, Freeform and Fox were once a treasure trove of teen TV, with slates packed with series like “The O.C.,” “Gossip Girl,” “Pretty Little Liars” and “90210.” But as younger audiences completely shun linear, these networks have largely abandoned teen programming.

Wax On, Wax Off. For those of us who lived through the 1980s, The Karate Kid has been in our lives in one way or another. Even if you have never seen any of the films, you know what Wax On, Wax Off means. In 2018, we got to take a trip back to the All Valley Karate Tournament to see what Daniel Larusso and Johnny Lawrence were up to. Joshua Jackson is “waging a one-man war” to greenlight a Broadway-themed episode for his hit ABC series “Doctor Odyssey.”
It’s not that Jackson, who executive produces and stars as Dr. Max Bankman, is particularly eager to sing — though he says coming up with little ditties has helped him learn the show’s complex medical jargon. Jackson is not really excited about dancing either: he and co-star Sean Teale (who plays nurse Tristan Silva) laugh, bemused, when the conversation during a special FYC screening of the show in Los Angeles turns to their dance-off (set to “Despacito”) in the pilot episode.

Karate Kid: Legends has a significant advantage over any of the other installments in the Karate Kid franchise, but it will still have to fight hard to prove itself. The upcoming movie, which is expected to hit theaters in May 2025, is a highly anticipated sequel to both 1984's The Karate Kid and its 2010 remake. Though the semantics of how these two stories will come together is still unclear, the union of Ralph Macchio's Daniel Larusso and Jackie Chan's Mr. Han is undoubtedly promising. Still, these two actors and their respective characters aren't all Karate Kid: Legends has going for it over its predecessors.
The Karate Kid franchise got its first movie in 1984, featuring Macchio's Daniel Larusso in the titular role. Then came The Karate Kid Part 2 in 1986 and The Karate Kid Part 3 in 1989, both of which featured Macchio and Pat Morita as the leads. In 1994, Morita...

Joshua Jackson’s foray into dark drama was never by design. “It wasn’t like I sat down and was like, ‘I’m going to be heavy in my thirties,’” says the star of shows like The Affair, Dr. Death and Fatal Attraction. “Murder, adultery, drug addiction—I had the whole basket of bad things.” In Doctor Odyssey, Jackson leaves the darkness behind for blue skies and open waters in Ryan Murphy’s weekly leisure cruise that mixes cultural phenomena like Quackers (people obsessed with rubber ducks) with quirky medical mysteries. To top it off, Dr. Max Bankman and his colleagues quickly get enmeshed in the kind of intra-office intrigue that would have Hr departments quaking in their boots. Audiences are lapping it all up, and so is Jackson: “We have a pretty good time making it, so I’m glad you have a good time watching it.”
