Mortal Kombat II Trailer Breaks Records Within 24 Hours of Release
Image
The new red band trailer for Mortal Kombat II has smashed records, racking up an incredible 106.8 million views worldwide in just its first 24 hours.

According to WaveMetrix data, the trailer dropped on Thursday, July 17 at 9 Am Pst and quickly became the most-watched red-band trailer ever. It launched in 68 countries and was available in 47 different languages. Fans are eagerly waiting for the movie’s release on October 24.

The original Mortal Kombat movie from 2021, also directed by Simon McQuoid, set a high bar by breaking records for red-band trailers with 116 million views in its first week. It even outperformed trailers for popular movies like Logan and Deadpool 2 in early viewership. That movie did well at the box office, too, earning $23.3 million in its opening weekend, despite being released simultaneously on HBO Max.

The new sequel won’t have the same streaming release, so fans will see how it performs with a pure theatrical launch.

Hawk Tuah Girl’s Crypto Team Short on Answers After Disastrous Meme Coin Bust
Image
Since becoming a viral star this summer thanks to a street interview in which she charmingly imparted graphic sex advice, Haliey Welch, a.k.a. “Hawk Tuah Girl,” has launched a podcast and an animal charity, carving out a pleasant niche for herself as an influencer. Being more online, of course, has allowed her to sustain and profit from her fame, though it has also led to some curious endorsements — Welch regularly touts the greatness of X (formerly Twitter), its owner, Elon Musk, and Tesla‘s troubled Cybertruck, to take a handful of interrelated examples.

I'm Delighted By Honkai Star Rail 2.6's Light Cone Leaks
Image
Some new Honkai: Star Rail 2.6 leaks about specific Light Cones are making me particularly excited about the games future. The popular turn-based RPG by HoYoverse is about to enter Version 2.5, a new patch focused on the story arc taking place on the Xianzhou Luofu as the Alliance celebrates the Wardance Festival and deals with the escape of a notorious prisoner from the Shackling Prison. The release of Honkai: Star Rail 2.5 will also bring forth three new playable characters: Feixiao, Moze, and Lingsha. These new units should improve the overall state of team comps focused on follow-up attacks.

While players attention is shifting toward the arrival of Version 2.5, there are already leaks about several upcoming patches to the game. Most of these rumors tend to focus on future playable characters, such as Tingyuns new form and the new Herta form in Honkai: Star Rail. There are, however, leaks about other pieces of content,...

Brady said: “The film entwines observational documentary moments with loosely composed scenarios where Daava and Zaya traverse their memories. As co-writers we have traced their experiences together.

See How They Run Director Tom George Wants To Make A New Kind Of Whodunit [Exclusive Interview]
Image
"See How They Run" is a whodunit about whodunits, a murder mystery movie about a murder behind the scenes of a murder mystery play. And that's just the beginning of the movie's meta touches, which involve fictional detectives trying to solve a fictional crime committed during the staging of a very real show — the adaptation of Agatha Christie's "The Mousetrap," which is still running to this day in London's West End. And that's before you get to the inside jokes about William Shakespeare and Tom Stoppard.

But you don't need to be a theater nerd to enjoy the basic pleasures of "See How They Run," which understands that casting Sam Rockwell as a down-on-his-luck detective and Saoirse Ronan as his eager, inexperienced protege is a recipe for a good time. The movie's drawl wit and compelling characters do their fair share of the heavy lifting.

I recently sat down...

Asian Wingz And Food D*cks: A Trip To Angelo From Top Chef’s New Restaurant
Two weeks ago, Top Chef finalist and Crocadile Aficionado Angelo Sosa opened a new restaurant in midtown Manhattan called “Social Eatz” (Sic). Since Noah Garfinkel and I are both exquisite connoisseurs of fine cuisine, Top Chef, and putting the letter Z on the end of thingz, we decided to take a trip to the Asian-inspired snack-food jaunt to sample some real-life Top Chef cooking, just like our moms (the lesbians from Top Chef Season 4) used to make. Social Eatz — named for its laid-back-but-upscale ambiance and also Z — is located at 53rd st and 2nd Avenue, right in the heart of Manhattan’s “What The F*ck Is Over Here After 5 pm, Werewolves Or Something?” District. When we arrived at the restaurant, we couldn’t help but immediately notice that it’s conveniently located right next to a not-unpornographic DVD depot: Immediately after entering, Noah used the bathroom to “wash his...
