Kings of Leon have hit the road for the North American leg of their 2024 world tour and the set list has been revealed following the first show.

The family band launched the tour with a show on Wednesday (August 14) at the Moody Center in Austin, Tex.

Brothers Caleb, Jared, Nathan and cousin Matthew Followill performed shows across Europe earlier this summer and now they’ll be touring around the U.S. and Canada through early October.

Bandit is a relatable antihero driven by money and fun, not forgiveness. Sheriff Buford T. Justice's stupidity and idiocy make him lovably funny. Smokey and the Bandit combines impressive stunts with hilarious, memorable lines.

As one of the biggest comedy movies of the 1970s, there are endless Smokey and the Bandit quotes that solidify its legacy. Starring Burt Reynolds and comedy legend Jackie Gleason, the 1977 comedy was a light-hearted and hilarious ride about a fast-driving outlaw driving a trailer full of beer across state lines with a determined sheriff on his tail. Engelberg served a similar role previously for candidates Walter F. Mondale in 1984 and Michael Dukakis in 1988. For Clinton, the bus tour was a rousing success. It bonded Clinton, Gore and their wives, and presenting the amiable presidential candidate as an everymen who thrived mixing with real people in cities across the country. It would become a trademark for Clinton’s successful two presidential runs.

Arguably the most hated James Bond supporting character also made a cameo in Superman 2. The Roger Moore era of the Bond series is extremely unlikely to be repeated. Moore's knowingly hammy performance and reliance on silly gags wouldn't fly with modern audiences raised on the Daniel Craig Bond movies or even the Bourne franchise. While some elements of Moore's run have aged poorly, there is a good-natured fun and spectacle to even his weakest outings.

Of course, Moore's comedy stylings as 007 weren't for everybody, with Timothy Dalton only agreeing to take over the role for The Living Daylights if he could present a more serious Bond. Moore's James Bond movie cycle produced some memorable allies and foes, including Richard Kiel's iconic henchman Jaws or General Gogol (Walter Gotell). In just a couple of weeks, Burt Reynolds was slated to go in front of the camera of Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time In Hollywood. Reynolds, who died suddenly today of a suspected heart attack, was to play rancher George Spahn in the movie, set in Los Angeles in the summer of 1969 before the Manson Family murders were committed.

Reynolds, who was cast back in May and attended the Leonardo DiCaprio- and Brad Pitt-starring film’s table read in June, had received a straight offer from Tarantino, who had seen Reynolds in the 2018 release The Last Movie Star.

On November 24, 1971, a man calling himself Dan Cooper hijacked Northwest Orient Airlines flight 305 from Portland to Seattle (a trip known as a “milk run” due to the short distance involved). A few minutes into the voyage, he got the attention of a flight attendant and made it known that he had a bomb that he intended to use unless his demands were met. What did he want? $200,000 in unmarked bills and four parachutes.

With the London Classic Car Show arriving, we salute the automotive joy of Hal Needham's Smokey & The Bandit

Arriving in cinemas in 1977, Smokey And The Bandit is an action comedy that may as well list the road itself as an added character when its end credits appear. It's directed by Hal Needham, who sadly died just a week or two ago, and it's a real testament to his skill.

With the London Classic Car Show running from Excel from 15th-18th February - details here - we figured we'd take another mooch at the film, and in particular, its finest car chase.

A long-standing stuntman at first, Needham would bring the marriage of comedy and cars to the big screen again, in the Smokey And The Bandit follow-up, and the mighty The Cannonball Run. But he marries together a cracking collection of ingredients here, in what is his directorial debut.
