Here's to September, when the high-decibel CGI chaos of summer movie season finally gives way to more humanistic, if Oscar-eyeballing projects from the major studios. Sony, Paramount, Fox and the like prepare to trot out their prestige pictures and other awards horses, many of which have the added benefit of being quite good, while indie outfits get set to release a varied array of pictures a few steps from the beaten path. Throw in an unanticipated sequel to a decade-old horror smash, a revitalized staple of the Western genre, and...

Justin Bieber is still welcome in the Atlanta suburb of Buckhead. Fear not, Atlanta Beliebers! Interns at Rock 100.5′s “The Regular Guys” hoaxed the world when they created a fake “Buckhead Neighborhood Coalition” Facebook page and invented a fictional protest. “Justin Bieber’s relocation to Atlanta can be nothing but bad for our children, as well as the community,” the hoaxers wrote. Why has no one made a good "Leave Justin Bieber Alone" video yet? The 19-year-old pop star seems to have have been enjoying his time down in Atlanta, but a protest staged by Rock 100.5's The Regular Guys show made it seem that residents in the city's wealthy Buckhead suburb did not want the Biebs in their 'hood. Only, as host Steve Rickman told E! News exclusively, the "protesters" were actually just six interns at The Regular Guys show who dressed "rich" à la the stereotypical Buckhead Betty in "just in a nice shirt with a high-waisted belt," and standard Buckhead man in a suit, although "they looked more like bad attorneys." And these interns,...

Everywhere you look this week, there's magic at the movies. On the one hand, children are vanishing into the fantasy world of Narnia. On the other, adults are vanishing into the fantasy world of either being or being with Angelina Jolie and/or Johnny Depp. Decisions, decisions...
'The Tourist'
Johnny Depp goes on vacation in Venice, only to run into Angelina Jolie and her web of deceit and espionage. Eric D. Snider had a problem with at least half of that equation, though: "The whole point of Frank is that he's an average, ordinary guy -- the one thing Johnny Depp is not good at playing. Misfits, oddballs, kooks, nuts, drunken pirates, tea-party-attending hat enthusiasts, sure. Regular guys, no. We have Jolie playing to her strengths (enigmatic beauty, vaguely sensual dialogue, some light gunplay) while Depp must play against his. It is a bad idea.

Wouldn’t it be nice to wake up and be a secret agent overnight? As the titular lead of the television show Chuck, Chuck Bartowski would probably say it’s not so nice, but he’s had his fair share of adventure and lady love.
For those who need a download of information on the series, brace yourselves. Chuck works for the Nerd Herd department of a Burbank Buy More store, an ode to Best Buy’s Geek Squad (which, by the way, does have a Burbank location). Chuck had a simple life until he opens an email sent from his former college roommate and the whole of the United States’ secret information gets downloaded directly into his brain. More after the jump.
Chuck doesn’t have immediate control of the information. It presents itself on a need to know basis; Chuck sees a person, place or thing that triggers...

Up with Chuck. This is that rare show that gets better and better as it goes
hanging on to what always worked and knowing what and who to add to smooth out the rough spots. Ostensibly this series started out as a spy spoof but fans know that the comedy and the romance long ago became the central reason to watch. It all hinges on being able to ignore Chucks doofy premise and go with the flow. I'm happy to do just that. So few comedies deliver belly laughs these days (gone are glory days of Seinfeld and even My Name is Earl at it's best) but Chuck does just that.
In other worthwhile news this comes with the 3D episode and glasses as well as a passel of extras including the featurettes Truth, Spies and Regular Guys: Exploring the Mythology of Chuck, Dude in Distress: Explore Some of This Season's Best Action Sequences,...

Chicago – After a second season that saw already-low ratings decline, NBC took a chance by bringing “Chuck” back for a third, shortened season. As the network has struggled this year due to a number of horrible decisions (most of them related to Jay Leno), most of its lineup has been hit. Let’s hope “Chuck” bucks the trend because this cult hit has arguably never been better.
Television Rating: 3.5/5.0
The second of “Chuck,” recently released on DVD (which we’ll get into in more detail later), felt a bit like a show spinning its wheels. The series failed to pick up any new fans and lost a few, although I imagine a number of “Chuck” fans are watching in that space that doesn’t get reflected in ratings - On Demand, online, etc. No matter the reason for the ratings slide, “Chuck” needs to grab fans quickly with the third...
