Joe Lara in Les Aventures fantastiques de Tarzan (1996)

Trivia

Les Aventures fantastiques de Tarzan

Edit
A character called Carson Napier appears in the episode titled 'Tarzan and the Amtorans.' This is a crossover episode as Carson Napier of Venus is the main protagonist of the Amtor Series (also known as the Venus Series), a science fantasy series of adventures likewise written by Tarzan's creator Edgar Rice Burroughs.
The series was filmed in the Sun City resort in South Africa, making it one of the few Tarzan productions to actually film on that continent.
A second season was planned to air, but with actor Xavier Declie replacing Joe Lara in the lead and Julie St. Claire cast as Jane. However, bankruptcy proceedings were initiated against the show's distributor Seagull Entertainment in summer 1997, and a second season was never produced.
Joe Lara also portrayed Tarzan in the unrelated Made for TV movie Tarzan à Manhattan (1989). He lost out at being Tarzan in Tarzán (1991) with the part went to Wolf Larson.
Similar to shows like Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, The Adventures of Sinbad, and The New Adventures of Robin Hood, the series places a heavy emphasis on fantasy and sword & sorcery.
