Exclusive: Lionsgate Television has optioned author and theater critic Alexis Soloski’s bestselling novel Here in the Dark for scripted series development.

Megan Abbott, the New York Times bestselling author, co-creator and showrunner of the hit series Dare Me, will serve as both EP and writer.

Two-time Fleishman Is in Trouble Emmy nominee Taffy Brodesser-Akner joins as EP, reteaming with that FX series producers Sarah Timberman and Carl Beverly.

Here in the Dark, published by Flatiron Books, is a dark and stylish novel of psychological suspense about a young theater critic drawn into a dangerous game that blurs the lines between reality and performance.

Abbott herself is a New York Times bestselling author of tension-filled narratives, i.e. Beware the Woman, The Turnout, Give Me Your Hand and several other major titles. Her next novel, El Dorado Drive, will be released by Penguin Random House in June.

Hulu's horror anthology TV show created by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk serves as a spinoff to the duo's original (and widely successful) horror series American Horror Story. Every episode depicts a different, terrifying narrative, and American Horror Stories season 4, episode 3, "X," is certainly among the show's creepiest installments, mostly thanks to the aforementioned patient. It also helps that it's the first black-and-white episode in the series.

The exact timeline of American Horror Stories season 4, episode 3, is unknown. However, based on patient records, it likely takes place in the late 1970s.

All of the nominations for the 2024 Daytime Emmy Awards have been announced!

After the first round of nods were announced, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences revealed the remaining nominations on Friday morning (April 19)

The upcoming awards celebrate and recognize “outstanding achievement in television programming and crafts since 1974, honoring work in a variety of categories, including daytime dramas, talk shows, instructional programming, hosting, culinary and legal/courtroom programs.”

The Kelly Clarkson Show leads the daytime talk show categories with nine noms while The Young and the Restless‘ Eric Braeden earned his first nomination in over 20 years!

The full list of 51st Annual Daytime Emmy nominations was announced on Friday morning, April 19, at 9:00am Pacific/12:00pm Eastern by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS). Winners will be announced live on Friday, June 7, at 8:00 pm Eastern/delayed Pacific, on CBS, and available to stream live and on-demand on Paramount+. The Daytime Creative Arts and Lifestyle Emmy Awards will be presented on Saturday, June 8, and streamed on the Emmys apps and at watch.TheEmmys.tv. The ceremonies will take place at the Westin Bonaventure Los Angeles.

The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) announced Friday the nominees for the 51st annual Daytime Emmy Awards, with two CBS soaps — The Bold and the Beautiful and The Young and the Restless — leading the field with 12 nominations apiece.

ABC’s General Hospital and Peacock’s Days of Our Lives join those series in the titles nominated for best daytime drama series, which also include Popstar! TV’s The Bay and Amazon Freevee’s Neighbors (the latter also earned a nod for Guy Pearce’s guest performance; it is the first nom for Amazon in the daytime drama categories).

The Kelly Clarkson Show led the nominees in the talk series categories with nine nods. The talk show is nominated alongside The Jennifer Hudson Show, Tamron Hall, Disney+’s Turning the Tables with Robin Roberts and ABC’s The View for best daytime talk series.

He of course, is the one British TV writer whose dark story lines can make Jimmy McGovern’s work look like Disney fairy tales. Springhill was one of his earliest works, and it isn’t particularly well remembered because it aired on the fledgling Sky One rather than on the BBC or ITV.
