After 50 seasons on NBC, only 167 people have joined the coveted cast of “Saturday Night Live” with a select few sticking around for 10 or more seasons.

The sketch series has kickstarted several cast members’ careers to a new heights, some so big you may have forgotten they started on the show: Billy Crystal, Robert Downey Jr., Ben Stiller, Laurie Metcalf and Julia Louis-Dreyfuss, to name a few.

But several cast members’ careers are defined by the impact of the sketch show. Kenan Thompson has spent 22 seasons on the show, almost half of the series’ tenure.

Hersha Parady, who won the hearts of Little House on the Prairie viewers with her 1977-1980 portrayal of Walnut Grove schoolteacher and Ingalls Family friend Alice Garvey, died yesterday in Norfolk, Virginia, following surgery last month for the brain cancer meningioma. She was 78.

Her death was announced by her son Jonathan Peverall. Parady died in Peverall’s hometown of Norfolk.

In a Facebook post last night, co-star and friend Alison Arngrim, who played the troublemaking Nellie Oleson on Little House, wrote, “Our wild, untameable, talented Hersha has left us. Rest in power.”

Although Parady made her TV debut in 1971 on the series Bearcats! and appeared that decade on Mannix, The Waltons and CBS Afternoon Playhouse, she debuted in her signature role of the Little House teacher in 1977, beginning a three-season run that would end with one of the series’ most shocking and well-remembered installments: The February 4, 1980, episode titled “May We Make Them Proud: Part I.

Director Phil Traill’s sequel to Paramount Pictures’ 1997 comedy Good Burger is set to begin streaming on Paramount+ this fall. The film centers on Dexter (Thompson) and Ed (Mitchell) reuniting at their former workplace 26 years after the original feature, alongside a new group of employees.

In the trailer, Mitchell is driving when he hits Thompson with his vehicle. Thompson exclaims, “Hey, man, you almost car-burger’d me to death.” This leads Mitchell to excitedly reply, “The new adventures of Ed and Dex starts now!”

On April 6, nearly seven months after his death, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner confirmed that Coolio died of an accidental overdose of fentanyl, heroin, and methamphetamine. The coroner's report, which is available online, also noted cardiomyopathy unspecified, asthma, and recent phencyclidine (Pcp) use as other significant contributors to his death.

Coolio was born Artis Leon Ivey Jr. in Monessen, Pa, in 1963. He later moved to the Compton neighborhood of Los Angeles, home to many other notable rappers including members of the group N.W.A, Kendrick Lamar, and Roddy Ricch. Coolio released his debut album, "It Takes a Thief," in 1994, and the following year, he released the seminal "Gangsta's Paradise.

Coolio’s 28 September 2022 death was caused by an accidental overdose of fentanyl, heroin and methamphetamine, a coroner has ruled.

No cause of death was given at the time when the “Gangsta’s Paradise” rapper was found dead at a friend’s house in Los Angeles, California.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner report, which was seen by People, also reportedly listed cardiomyopathy unspecified, asthma and recent phencyclidine use as other significant conditions that contributed to his death.

Cardiomyopathy is a disease of the heart that makes it harder for the heart muscle to pump blood to the rest of the body.

TMZ first reported the news of the coroner’s ruling, adding that – according to family spokesperson Jarel (Jarez) Posey – Coolio’s next of kin plan to honour him through documentaries and film.

The estate of rapper Coolio announced plans to release a posthumous album later this year with singles the Grammy award-winning artist was working on before his death, according to the Associated Press.

The album titled “Long Live Coolio” is the first posthumous album release from the “Gangsta’s Paradise” hip-hop star. The first single, “Tag ‘You It,’” was released on Friday and featured California rappers Too $hort and DJ Wino.

The music video showed Coolio and Too $hort in a boxing ring as women twerked. It marks the last piece of visual content Coolio appeared in before his death from cardiac arrest on Sept. 28, 2022, at age 59.

In 1995, Coolio won a Grammy for best solo rap performance for “Gangsta’s Paradise,” which came from the “Dangerous Minds” soundtrack of the Michelle Pfeiffer film. He also performed the theme music, “Aw, Here It Goes!” for the ’90’s Nickelodeon sitcom “Kenan & Kel.

Paramount+ has ordered up a sequel to the ’90s-kid classic film “Good Burger.” Both Thompson and Mitchell are coming back to reprise their respective roles as Dexter Reed and Ed, reuniting the Nickelodeon comedy duo more than 25 years after the first movie’s release.

“I can’t believe it’s been a little over 25 years since great customer service was born at Good Burger! Being a part of something so many generations of people have come to love has made me so proud and now to be back where it all began working on the sequel is surreal,” Thompson said in a statement shared with IndieWire. “Love performing with my brother Kel and can’t wait to show the fans what these characters have been up to since we last saw them.

CBS has given a pilot order to a multi-cam comedy series based on the “JumpStart” comic strip, Variety has learned.

The project hails from writer and executive producer Wayne Conley. Aaron Kaplan and Melanie Frankel of Kapital Entertainment also executive produce along with Bridget McMeel of Andrews McMeel Entertainment and Wendi Trilling of TrillTV. Robb Armstrong, the creator of “JumpStart,” will co-executive produce. CBS Studios will produce.

“JumpStart” is set in Philadelphia. Per the official logline, the show “follows Joe, a cop, his wife Marcy, a nurse, and Joe’s partner, Crunchy. Joe and Marcy are young, hip, urban parents with old school values who are willing to sacrifice for their kids and have some laughs while doing it.” The comic strip originally entered syndication in 1989.

A TV version of the comic has been in the works since at least 2014, when Kapital announced plans to develop a live-action version with 20th Century Fox.
