Fantastic true story

The true story of kidney smugllers was very well treated and Mithun delivered, as usual, a superb performance. Music was good. Action scenes revealed that Mithun was still young despite his age. Locations shot were also very good, but wonder where the last part was shot - in India or overseas.

A 1995 blockbuster!

T Rama Rao's 1995 flick 'Ravan Raaj: A True Story' is a fantastic entertainer. The film was a huge success at the box office, and it deserved to be. A true story on the incidences of organ racket that happened in south India. A true story told in the most interesting and gripping manner. Two Big Thumbs Up!

Performances: Mithun Chakraborty is my favorite actor, his performance here also is excellent. Madhu looks great and did a lovely job. Aditya Panscholi is superb. Paresh Rawal is fantastic. His punch line in the film is truly hilarious and meaningful. Shakti Kapoor plays to the gallery. Harish and Sheeba are good. Johnny Lever is hilarious in that one sequence. Others are good.

'Ravan Raaj: A True Story' is a winner all the way. Amazing direction, amazing songs and commendable performances make this 1995 flick a complete treat. Go for it!

Last solo hit of Mithun in Bollywood

Ironically Suraksha was the first solo hit of Mithun Chakraborty released on 22 nd June, 1979 and last solo hit of Mithun was released on same month and almost in same week date 28 th June , 1995 named as Ravan Raaj. Mithun's low budget dream factory at Ooty is recognised as numerous B grade films which falls just after release without showing any trace. But Ravan Raaj is an exception. Mithun's typical action, Biju Shah's catchy music, T Rama Rao's good direction proves to be stand out in a thriller based screenplay. Ravan Raaj is a typical story of crime and corruption. Auto Kesariya played by Shakti Kapoor assigned the tasks of kidnapping and organ trafficking with the help of minister Charan Das played by Paresh Rawal and Dr Amir Verma played by Aditya Pancholi. As expectation ACP Arjun Verma played by Mithun shoulders the responsibility to destroy that racket with help of his love interest Journalist Gayatri played by Madhu. As a thriller film, this film has also some scenes which creates suspense among audiences like Mithun's raid in Shakti Kapoor's den where police dog identified the wall where lots of skeletons are inserted and Mithun's Police Jeep broke the wall and suddenly series of exskelons come out from the wall or the killing of Paresh Rawal and his wife by his servant in his own home. The last scene and sudden appearance of Aditya Pancholi also creates moments in the film. More or less film is able to maintain suspense in parts. Performance wise Mithun as usual steals the show. Shakti Kapur , Paresh Rawal and Aditya Pancholi are good. Madhu gets more screen space than usually other heroines get screen space in any Mithun's film during that time. But apart from Mithun, music is the most important saving grace of that film. Mithun's dream run in Bollywood virtually ends with this film. Later some solo films of Mithun in Bollywood like Jallad, Sher- E - Hindustan, Chandal, Shapath do better in some circuits but they are semi hit or Average. Though Actor Mithun is still alive in Bollywood but superstardom of Mithun ends with Ravan Raaj.
