The Pleasure Principle

One of my favorite films ever

This film is a little gem. The story is told in a very relaxed way using the main actors voice as a commentator on his feelings and thoughts while you watch him struggling through his love feelings.

All characters in this film have terrible problems with their feelings towards the other - and part wise same - sex. So unfolds a hard to believe but still believable (believe me) story. The actors are not overacting as we often see it in awarded roles but are appearing comfortably relaxed with their roles. The acting is good and right on the spot.

The probably best of the whole film is the soundtrack. I do not like soul music but the tracks are soulISH and fit the subject beautifully. A saxophone is used here and there and blends in nicely with the overall mood. Even one of the main actresses is shown playing it.

Very nice, very relaxing, very enjoyable. No big drama cinema, but a lovely film to enjoy.

" An Alfie for the 90's" Barry Norman

This film began as a conversation in a London cab and one year later was showing in 11 first run cinemas in London. This period included shooting more footage and re-scoring following a sale to a distributor.. Who despite hampering the film with one of the worst trailers of all time sold the film all over. There are three versions (not including foreign language) the original (and best) the re-cut and a further re-cut (the worst) for American cable sales. The film was made with private investment and has been sold to America England Scandinavia Germany and Japan amongst others.

ok for a rainy afternoon

Remember seeing this film a long time ago, on a rainy afternoon. Nothing particularly memorable about it, certainly not the acting or the plot. However it was fairly harmless comedy of manners, personally though, learn from my experience leave it on the shelf, spend your money on something a bit more satisfying.
