He may be the prime minister of Canada — but Justin Trudeau says some of his most important work is not as a political leader, but as a parent.
In a new essay for MarieClaire.com, Trudeau talks about how he and wife Sophie try to “nurture empathy, compassion, self-love, and a keen sense of justice” in their three children, daughter Ella Grace, 8, and sons Xavier, 9, and Hadrien, 3.
But Trudeau says he worries about the “violence, discrimination and stereotypes” his daughter may encounter in a world where women still aren’t treated as equals to men.

Omarosa Manigault found herself in some hot water at the National Association of Black Journalists conference in New Orleans on Friday.
Heated words, walk-outs and turned backs were as much part of the conference as the questions leveled at Manigault — whom many thought was dodging serious questions about President Donald Trump and his attitude about police brutality, NPR reported.
“I’ll do my best to try to keep this a civil as possible,” broadcast journalist and fellow panelist Ed Gordon said in a video clip of the panel, shared by a Twitter user. “Don’t be aggressive,” Manigault responded, as she stood up.

Warner Bros. has beat out several other studios to secure the rights to the memoir Tell the Truth & Shame the Devil: The Life, Legacy, and Love of My Son Michael Brown, written by Lezley McSpadden, the mother of 18-year-old Michael Brown, who was killed by police officer Darren Wilson in Ferguson, Missouri back in 2014. Simon & Schuster published the memoir last year, which attracted interest from several unspecified studios, although Warner Bros. eventually acquired the rights. The studio is reportedly seeking a writer of color to adapt this book for a big screen biopic.
The Tracking Board first broke the news of this project today, revealing that the studio is aiming to craft this true story adaptation with the the same type of tone and theme as the 2005 Best Picture winner Crash. No producers have been attached to this project quite yet, and the studio hasn't announced a production schedule or release plans yet.

Our sons haven’t seen my favorite movie of all time. They likely won’t be able to see it for years. Film critics get asked on a regular basis to name our favorite films. And like all movie lovers, choosing one is nearly impossible. Maybe it’d be easier if we could break it down by genre? We could step back and analyze personal favorites in the Western, sci-fi, action or horror fields. But asking us to single out the one movie that rules them all? It’s Sophie’s choice. Years ago, I settled on my answer to the eternal question: the original Die Hard. It has remained – and likely forever will remain – my personal favorite movie of all time. It’s the first R-rated movie I begged my parents to let me see...

Simply put, Sons of Anarchy featured the greatest cameo in the history of television this week.
What else was included in "Orca Shrugged," aside from a very large man in a very precarious situation? Relived tension between Gemma and Tara; Jax going the blackmail route with Hale; and Roosevelt getting dragged into the home invasion storyline.
Our Round Table team of Matt Richenthal, Christine Orlando and Carla Day from TV Fanatic, along with Terri Rykard from Sons-of-Anarchy.net, is here to break down all the action...

What was your favorite scene from the episode?
Matt: Seeing that Eli and Rita were finally expecting a child. We know from last season how badly they wanted one and I'm sure they'll raise him or her in the most loving environment, with nothing ever going wrong and... oh, right.
Christine: Loved the "Irish discussion," as Clay put it, and then how cool...

New Orleans -- The Essence Music Festival kicked off Thursday with events geared for the young.
Organizers planned to hold talks at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center on crime, education and other issues affecting today's youth as a prelude to teen musical acts scheduled to hit the Superdome stage later in the evening.
Essence is one of the premiere music festivals celebrating black culture and music. It's been held every Independence Day weekend since its inception in 1995, when it marked the 25th anniversary of Essence magazine.
As in years past, the festival tackles themes of importance to African Americans, such as education and the upcoming presidential election. But above all, Essence is a celebration of music.
Opening day was to be all about recognizing newcomers to the music scene, including the Disney Channel's Coco Jones, rapper Diggy Simmons, the Omg Girlz, Roshon Fegan, Katlyn Nichol, Square Off and New...

Little Rock, Ark. — The parents of two of three Arkansas boys who were murdered in 1993 said they're disappointed that a documentary about the killings and the three men convicted, known as the West Memphis Three, was nominated Tuesday for an Academy Award.
Todd and Diana Moore had asked the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to exclude "Paradise Lost 3: Purgatory" from consideration, saying it glorifies Damien Echols, Jason Baldwin and Jessie Misskelley. The three spent 18 years in prison, maintaining their innocence and attracting attention from celebrities, before a deal with prosecutors set them free last year.
The film, directed by Joe Berlinger and Bruce Sinofsky, is the third in a series of HBO documentaries about the killings of Michael Moore, Stevie Branch and Christopher Byers. The bodies of the 8-year-old Cub Scouts were found naked and tied up with shoe strings in West Memphis, a town along the Mississippi River.
