Mary Lindell works for the French Red Cross in occupied France during World War II and helps Allied airmen who have been shot down to escape to the unoccupied side. Based on a true story, this film is set during the German occupation of France during World War II and centers on a British countess named Mary Lindell. Working for the Red Cross, Lindell secretly smuggles Allied airmen stuck behind enemy lines out of the country. Lindell helps downed fighter pilot Maj. James Leggatt, but once he is smuggled out, Lindell herself is arrested and sent to prison, and eventually to a concentration camp.—Jwelch5742

In the Second World War, English Countess and former Red Cross nurse in the First World War Mary Lindell lives in France with her son Maurice Lindell and her daughter Barbe Lindell. When she sees Major James Leggatt wounded and wandering around in occupied Paris, she does not hesitate to risk her life to save him from the Germans.
