Yikes! A Knockout Loss of a Movie!

This movie is a worthless piece of junk. The film looks like two different movies sliced together. I saw the subtitled version and it was weird to see American actors speaking in what I think was Chinese! A true cast of unknowns. Cult kick-boxer Sherman (Big Train) Bergman is reportedly in this film. Couldn't really figure out if I saw him or not, as this picture was filmed almost 18 years ago. Aside from that, can't really say this movie has anything remotely entertaining about it. The acting is terrible. The fight scenes are fake. The script seems like it was written on the back of a supermarket food list. A few and I mean few minor laughs can be gotten, but not much. This tape sells on amazon for 49 cents, and it isn't even worth that!

                  IFD strike again!

Although most famous or perhaps more appropriately, infamous for their cut & paste ninja efforts, IFD were also far from averse to dipping their toes into other popular genres of the time. It was somewhat inevitable therefore that seeing the early success of Jean Claude Van Damme in the States with his hit films, Bloodsport and Kickboxer, Joseph Lai and co were swift to jump onto the bandwagon with a series of kickboxing themed flicks of their own. Of course, being the cheap, lazy hacks that they are however, the said films turned out to typically inept cut and paste affairs as was in keeping with the modus operandi of the company. Sounds bad eh? And indeed, bad they were! But wait......for just as with their previous ninja flicks, the films themselves more often than not turned out to be tremendously entertaining (purely by luck as opposed to judgement), precisely on account of how atrociously bad they were. Such is the case with the film in question in fact, which whilst far from the best effort to ever be released by IFD, certainly boasts enough ridiculous scenes to raise a good few laughs. Check out the hopeless script for starters; It seems that the writer/s were under the misguided impression that the best manner in which to create dramatic tension is to have your protagonists spew out as many swear words as possible in each and every sentence! Also be sure to check out the hilarious fight sequence in which our hero, Harry gets whacked around the head with a shovel (and seems no worse for wear!).....and in glorious slow motion no less! Sadly, the initial fun does admittedly wane towards the end of the flick and the inevitable final battle between the two main characters is pretty hopeless. Nonetheless, for fans of IFD and indeed, crappy movies in general, this is certainly worthy of at least a watch.

Don't be fooled by this movie!! piece of crap

I rented this move tonight (thats right it was so bad I've immediately come here and registered so I could comment on it) after I saw the cover and read the back, it sounded pretty cool 2 kickboxers get involved in corrupt in match fixing, one of them wants to extend into further criminal activities, the other one wants out. The first guy ends up going to jail and in the end they fight to the death for a million dollars. I don't know what film they were previewing on the back of the box but this ain't exactly it. Firstly the guy on the cover/sleeve isn't even in the movie and I read this on the back of the box half way through the movie; "The image portrayed on this video sleeve has been created to represent the high quality of the programme within. The image portrayed does not appear on the programme" (or the actor). This was in the tiniest font possible at the very bottom of the sleeve back. Second, the kickboxing matches are basically boxing matches, I think I saw 2 in ring kicks in the whole movie. Third, they reuse footage from the opening match, in the final match. Fourth, the final match isn't a fight to the death as was stated on the back of the box. Fifth, they make a mistake with the synopsis on the back of the box, the character they say goes to jail isn't right, it's his friend who goes to jail. This is a cantonese piece of trash of a movie, it's not anything to do with american kickboxing and if I wasn't so lazy I would do something about it, they shouldnt be allowed trick people with false covers, speaking of false covers don't rent bikini cowgirls either, the girls on the cover aren't in the movie...
