This article contains spoilers for Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba season 1.
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is one of the biggest anime series of the past few years and with a feature film and second season on the way that’s not likely to change anytime soon. The thrilling action anime series depicts the journey of Tanjiro Kamado, a budding Demon Slayer who’s recently become orphaned by monsters and had his sister transformed into one of their own kind.
There are no shortage of anime series where underdog protagonists with some variety of supernatural powers hunt deadly monsters, but the way in which Demon Slayer differentiates itself is through the powerful blades that the characters wield. These swords are often the last thing that demons will ever see, but there’s a lot more to understand about these weapons beyond the fact that they’re pretty darn sharp.

That’s why Sarah Michelle Gellar says she believes she’s “long in the tooth” for any potential Buffy The Vampire Slayer reboot.
Now 43-years-old, the actress made the comments while, appearing on the On with Mario Lopez podcast. While still remarkably young-looking, Gellar said the show requires a teenager in the role of The Slayer.
Gellar claimed she’s a “Wee bit, how do they say, long in the tooth for that.” The monsters Buffy faced “were a metaphor for the horrors of adolescence,” she explained. “I do think that story lends itself, it’d be interesting to see how a chosen one would deal with that. I don’t think it’s me, I don’t think I should be the one doing it.

The lights are off, and a full moon's glow from the screen fills the shadows. A wolf's howl serenades the audience, and familiar gothic lettering rises into silhouette like something from beyond the grave. A wailing guitar cascades into a catchy riff, and the intro to Buffy the Vampire Slayer takes off. Thanks in part to its instantly recognizable title card, it remains one of the most beloved series of the last several decades, and its influence can be seen in everything from The Vampire Diaries to Supernatural.

Halloween may have traditionally been a night of quiescence for vampires and demons in Sunnydale, but anything could happen to the Slayer and the Scooby Gang. Halloween episodes on Buffy the Vampire Slayer were always notorious for spooky shenanigans, whether they involved the Scoobies getting possessed by their costumes, or just trying to find enough pocket space for their candy and their slaying weapons.

While the Scooby Gang never approached Halloween without a wary eye for supernatural mischief, their costumes ranged from incredibly elaborate, like Buffy's 18th century noblewoman ensemble, to as simple as Willow's sheet ghost. The gang proved that even keeping Sunnydale safe from the forces of darkness wasn't going to ruin their holiday spirit.

In the summer of 2018, it was announced that a reboot of Buffy the Vampire Slayer was in the works, with original creator Joss Whedon attached as exec producer. Fans of the iconic late 90s/early 00s supernatural show were initially against the idea of redoing the series, but then new information seemed to point to be it being more of a continuation or sequel project rather than a reboot. Following this, stars of the old show started coming forward to say that they’d be up for a return.
Here we are a year and a half later though and the Buffy reboot has yet to materialize, but it is still in the works. And Anthony Head has made clear that he’d come back at the drop of a hat if asked. The British star memorably played Rupert Giles, high school librarian and secret Watcher, the guardian and father figure to Buffy Summers’ Slayer.
