River Phoenix and Lili Taylor in L'amour n'est pas un jeu (1991)

Trivia

L'amour n'est pas un jeu

Edit
River Phoenix running down the street after he left Rose was the last scene shot and was not intended. It was added last minute when everyone noticed the skyline. River was told to run and didn't know why. He laughed through the whole scene because everyone yelled "Run River Run!"
Marks the film debut of Brendan Fraser (as one of the sailors who fight the marines) .
Given a theatrical release in just two cinemas in the USA, it went straight to video in the UK.
The character of Rose was originally supposed to be markedly overweight, but Lili Taylor made such an impression on director Nancy Savoca that the diminutive actress eventually won the part. Taylor did, however, gain 12 lbs. for the role and wore padding underneath her clothing.
River Phoenix's marine haircut (called a "high-and-tight") was deemed so unflattering that Warner Bros. requested highlights be added to Phoenix's hair to soften the young actor's appearance.
