Wilder and Pryor's comedic chemistry in films like Silver Streak and Stir Crazy was unmatched in American cinema history. Despite societal boundaries, Wilder and Pryor broke barriers as a rare black and white comedy duo in the film industry. The disappointing end of their partnership in Another You highlighted the struggles faced due to Richard Pryor's deteriorating health.
The screen duo of Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor was one of the greatest pairings of comedians American cinema had ever seen, and together, the two made four feature films between 1976 and 1991. With an innate understanding of one anothers comedic sensibilities, whenever Wilder and Pryor shared a scene together, hilarity was almost a certainty, as they could expertly adlib and always get the best out of one another. While both performers had acclaimed careers as individuals, they accomplished some of their best work together.

Plot: The life and career of Gene Wilder are remembered by his friends and colleagues.
Review: Gene Wilder was a one-of-a-kind talent. While it seems like he’s mostly remembered these days for playing Willy Wonka (with his performance inspiring Timothee Chalamet’s recent take), there was a lot more to him than just that one film. For one thing, his cinematic partnership with Mel Brooks resulted in three all-time classics: The Producers, Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein. Plus, he and Richard Pryor made an iconic mismatched duo in a slew of films (some better than others), while Wilder directed several highly successful films on his own.
In this loving tribute to the late icon, director Ron Frank pulls back the curtain to dip into both Wilder’s creative process and sometimes tragic life. Pulling from an audiobook he recorded of his memoirs, the film is distinguished because Wilder himself tells much of the story.

Elle King and Miranda Lambert have teamed up for the exhilarating new duet “Drunk (And I Don’t Wanna Go Home),” which marks the former tourmates’ second recorded collaboration after the CMA-winning cover of “Fooled Around and Fell in Love.”
King wrote the uptempo “Drunk” with Martin Johnson (who also produced the track) and it was recorded pre-pandemic in Nashville and New York. The song steadily builds anticipation in the verses with syncopated percussion, sustained low-end piano notes, and backing “oohs” to complement King and Lambert’s more aggressive vocal attack.

Elle King has moved on from a bad relationship, but her ex won’t let it go in her emotive performance video for new single, “Another You.”
Cowritten by King, Sam Fischer and John Hume, “Another You” discusses heartbreak and second chances at new love. In the intimate performance clip, King sings directly into the camera as she details actions from a former lover who made “a bad decision,” which led to their demise. Yet, after their relationship has ended, the pursuit continues. However, she’s done with the game.

The sad news for fans of film comedy spread like wildfire earlier this week. Here’s the opening paragraph facts from the New York Times:
Gene Wilder, who established himself as one of America’s foremost comic actors with his delightfully neurotic performances in three films directed by Mel Brooks; his eccentric star turn in the family classic “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory”; and his winning chemistry with Richard Pryor in the box-office smash “Stir Crazy,” died early Monday morning at his home in Stamford, Conn. He was 83.
A nephew, the filmmaker Jordan Walker-Pearlman, confirmed his death in a statement, saying the cause was complications of Alzheimer’s disease.
Mr. Wilder’s rule for comedy was simple: Don’t try to make it funny; try to make it real. “I’m an actor, not a clown,” he said more than once.

Los Angeles – The genius comedy of Gene Wilder was often in the subtlety. With a slow burn or a raised eyebrow, Wilder was able to draw big laughs. The star of “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory” and “Young Frankenstein” died in Stamford, Connecticut, according to his nephew in Los Angeles. He was 83.
Wilder was well into his thirties before the first big break came along in 1967, in the classic film “Bonnie and Clyde.” From there he was able to trade in his frizzy-haired persona in his co-starring role in Mel Brook’s “The Producers” (1968). It was his collaboration with Brooks that certified his legacy, with one-two punch of “Blazing Saddles” and “Young Frankenstein” in 1974. He was also held in high regard by a generation of children with his classic turn as the title character in “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory” (1971).

Some really sad news. The great Gene Wilder has died, it's been confirmed.
Gene Wilder, the actor, writer and director of unforgettable stage and screen comedies, has died from complications from Alzheimer’s disease in Stamford, Connecticut, according to a statement from his nephew. Wilder was 83.
Wilder was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma and treated with radiation and stem cell transplants in 1999.
Less than two years after Wilder married Saturday Night Live star Gilda Radner. She was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and died on May 20th 1989, at age 42. Wilder wrote and directed The Woman In Red (1984) and starred in two other films with Radner. After she died, Wilder became actively involved in promoting awareness of ovarian cancer and helped found the Gilda Radner Ovarian Cancer Detection Center in Los Angeles and co-founding Gilda's Club.
Wilder reportedly became a comic performer in order to cheer up his dying mother.

Willy Wonka star and all-round comedy great Jerome Silberman – better known to you and I as the inimitable Gene Wilder – has passed away following complications from Alzheimer’s disease. He was 83.
Wilder’s nephew, Jordan Walker-Pearlman, confirmed that the stage and screen icon had died at his home in Stamford, Connecticut on Monday, August 29. Wilder had been diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma back in 1989. Further details are not currently available at this time.
Before landing his defining role as the title character in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Gene Wilder enjoyed his screen debut through the Armstrong Circle Theatre TV series. That was in ’62, before holding a bit-part in Bonnie and Clyde five years later; it wasn’t until 1968, however, that Wilder made his first major breakthrough with the Leopold Bloom film.

To put it simply, Armin Van Buuren‘s sixth studio album, Embrace, is just about the best you could expect from a full-length effort released by an artist at his level of success. Let’s call it what it is: When you achieve the level of status that Armin has, you’re not just an artist anymore. You’re a full fledged enterprise, and there’s an entire team working behind the scenes to make you as profitable a commodity as humanly possible. That point where industry meets artistry on such a massive scale seldom turns out an artist’s most sincere work, but Embrace still manages to be genuine at all the moments that count.
Of course, that’s not to say that much of the album takes every opportunity to challenge the status quo. A discerning trance fan of yesteryear would likely scoff at tracks like his Mr. Probz collaboration,...

Explaining that the idea behind the effort is to embrace “different instruments” and “experiment,” he went into detail about how it’s been a very different and new experience for him.
Check out what he had to say below:

For the next release on his forthcoming album, the legendary Armin Van Buuren has teamed up with DJ Mag’s famed Hardwell. As the second track on Embrace, “Off The Hook” is a brightly stricken tune that’s Dutch to the core.
Utilizing a cavernous kick and typical Dutch synth leads, the colossal duo has soldered components of trance and big room into one powerhouse release. A bit disjointed, the track builds and breaks into several disparate moments, though the trademark styles of both Hardwell and Armin are clearly displayed in the first and second drops, respectively.
The new song certainly gives the impression of being meant for the energy of a main stage rather than headphones, and couldn’t be farther from Armin’s work with Mr. Probz on “Another You.” While built on a solid foundation, “Off The Hook” is a good track, but doesn’t quite live...

As far as trance fans are concerned, any news of an upcoming Armin Van Buuren album is indeed a momentous occasion in and of itself. And today, the world-renowned DJ/producer and A State of Trance founder has announced the official release date of his long awaited, sixth studio album, Embrace, and it’s safe to assume that it will be all that his devoted fanbase talks about in the couple of months in between now and its release.
The first track made available from Embrace was “Another You,” a feelgood festival anthem featuring vocals by hip-hop crossover artist Mr. Probz. As far as the rest of the songs on Armin Van Buuren‘s Embrace are concerned, the album’s official release date is October 29th, so we’ll surely be seeing a couple more releases before the disc drops.
In the meantime, let us know if you’re looking...

There are few, if any names, in the Edm world that carry as much weight with them as Armin Van Buuren. Ranked the World’s No. 1 DJ by DJ Magazine in their annual Top 100 DJs fan poll a record of five times, his list of achievements and accolades is truly astonishing.
With a career spanning 20 years, the Grammy-nominated artist has become a name that’s synonymous with excellence in dance music and the admiration and respect that both his peers, and the community have for him is apparent everywhere he goes.
It’s not very often that you get the chance to sit down for an exclusive interview with a true icon, so imagine my excitement when I was offered the chance to go one on one with the legendary producer. Doing a press day in NYC for his new track “Another You,” which features the soulful vocals of Mr.

When mixing black and white movie characters as either friends or foes on the big screen should not produce any gray areas at all. Whether amiable or adversarial the pairing of interracial tandems makes for an interesting sociological study in cinema where tension, togetherness, stereotypical profiling and mutual or reluctant acceptance makes for some captivating film fodder.
Sure, in many ways it is an overused cliched in the movies to produce racial tandems for the sake of the entertainment to allow the creative juices to overflow. In Salt and Pepper: Top 10 Black and White Movie Tandems we will take a look at various “salt and pepper” teams as they come together in the name of law and justice, hostile necessity, friendly frivolity or professional attachment to bring movie audiences a sense of adventure and curiosity in the name of comedic or dramatic license. American Idol continued with auditions in Salt Lake City where judges Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick, Jr. recruited a lot of young talent to Hollywood, including stand out Tessa Norman.
Austin Wolfe, 16, kicked it off with a strong rendition of Imagine Dragon’s “Radioactive” that won over the judges immediately. Keith and Harry loved her from the get go when she introduced herself – they were immediately jealous of her rock star name.
Another 16-year-old stand-out was Kenzie Hall, who showed off her range and guitar playing with John Mayer’s “I’m Gonna Find Another You.” To quote J. Lo, “She’s one of my favs…She was great.”
Other young aspiring singers who made the cut included Briston Maroney, 15, Kylee Adamson, 18, Michael Simeon, 19, D.J. Bradley, 20, Emily Rottler, 17, country singer Laurel Wright, 18, and diva in the making, Tessa Norman, 19. Tessa had the judges in the palm of...

Gene Wilder made a rare public appearance in New York on Thursday night, and didn't pull any punches when it came to Tim Burton's 2005 remake of "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" with Johnny Depp in the role Wilder made famous.
"I think it's an insult," Wilder, 80, said of Burton's film, which was called "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory." "It's probably Warner Bros.' insult." Warner Bros. released "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" and the film made $474 million around the world.
"It's all about money," Wilder said about the remake in a 2005 interview with The Guardian. "It's just some people sitting around thinking: 'How can we make some more money?' Why else would you remake 'Willy Wonka'? I don't see the point of going back and doing it all over again."
As Wilder said on Thursday during the event at New York's 92Y, he also had a problem with Burton's choices as director.

Gene Wilder doesn't think he's funny -- at least not in real life.
"[People] say, 'What a comic, what a funny guy,' and I'm not -- I am really not -- except in a comedy film," said the actor, who made a rare public appearance Thursday night (June 13) at the 92Y in New York City. "I also make my wife laugh once or twice in the house, but nothing special."
It's a bit odd to hear Wilder, known for playing comedic roles in films, including "Blazing Saddles," "The Producers," and "Young Frankenstein," to say something like this. Then again, Wilder always was a dramatic actor at heart, studying at renown institutions the Old Vic, in England, and Lee Strasberg's Actors Studio, in New York, before earning acclaim in his now classic comedies.
Last night, Wilder spoke about his career in and outside of show business, with Turner Classic Movies host Robert Osbourne.

For all their talent and good looks, Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson are no Paul Newman and Robert Redford. While those two struck gold twice in a row with "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" (1969) and "The Sting" (1973), Vaughn and Wilson have followed up "Wedding Crashers" with "The Internship," the kind of film that should serve as grounds for divorce.
But Vaughn & Wilson aren't the only dynamic duo to strike out their second (or third) time at bat. Here are ten winning combinations that couldn't leave well enough alone.
10. Jack Lemmon and Shirley MacLaine
First: "The Apartment" (1960)
Then: "Irma La Douce" (1963)
Under the guidance of director Billy Wilder, Jack Lemmon and Shirley MacLaine starred in "The Apartment," one of the best films to ever win the Oscar for Best Picture. So when that same trio reunited three years later for "Irma La Douce," you'd expect the same kind of magic,...

The New Girl is now a single girl. Zooey Deschanel has separated from her husband, Death Cab for Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard , according to Us Weekly . The "New Girl" star, 31, and Gibbard, 35, wed near Seattle in late September 2009. The pair were introduced by their mutual music manager. A source close to the couple tells Us that the split was “mutual and amicable.” A year before they wed, Zooey and Ben sang The Everly Brothers’ “Dream” at the Manifest Hope Gallery in Denver during the 2008 Democratic National Convention. Watch their duet here . And almost exactly one year ago, they performed “I’ll Never Find Another You” together on stage in Seattle. See the performance here . Gibbard’s extensive touring schedule may be partly to blame. Death Cab For Cutie is currently performing a string of shows in the U.K. before hitting the U.S. west coast later this month. Sadly,...

This week I got the chance to review Cal Ecker’s brand new Ep in its entirety. I recently did a review/post about his music video release accompanying the song, “I Will Love You” which you can read and watch his music video here.
His Ep is going to be available September 20th for download but his music video is available on YouTube.com.
The Ep has five tracks including his single, “I Will Love You” and a cover track of Cyndi Lauper’s, “Time After Time”.
I Will Love You My Greatest Mistake Another You Radio Time After Time
I really liked his single and I was totally excited to hear the rest of the Ep. I have to admit the very first song I did listen to was the cover song of Cyndi Lauper’s hit, “Time After Time”. I utterly love the original song by Cyndi Lauper...

A Cimmerian warrior! Giant robots hell bent on destroying Chicago! A midlife crisis! Three horrible bosses! A wimp on steroids for his country! James Bond and Indiana Jones fighting Aliens in the Old West! Winnie the Pooh! And a bloody wizard mêlée that will bring one of cinema's greatest sagas to a close forever! That's what July and August have to offer during the second half of our summer movie season.
It doesn't really matter how fast and furious things get on the big screen, the summer movie season doesn't officially kick off until May 6th. And this year Thor opened things with a lighting bolt blast of Marvel excitement. It doesn't come to an end until August 31st, when Sam Worthington sends us all back to school with The Debt. Between then and now, we will see some of the biggest movies of the year hit hard.

Chris Brown has had some very public personal struggles but the Virginia crooner isn't shying away from the spotlight on his next album. The singer has announced that the title of his follow-up to 2009's Graffiti will be Fame.
"I'm putting out singles a lot right now, so everything's coming together. But I definitely am gonna to say this and plug it quick: The name of my album is Fame so make sure you check it out," Brown said when he recently played radio host on 102.3 The Beat in Austin, Texas. According to some reports, the title references a "Fame" tattoo a "Fame" tattoo the singer sports on his arm.
The singer also urged fans to look out for the singles "Yeah 3X," a high-energy track infused with chirpy techno rhythms, and "Calypso" which he tweeted about in early September.

Without a doubt, one of the greatest comedic pairings of all time was Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor. Stir Crazy, Silver Streak, Another You ... each had its charm, ranging from the story of a runaway train to a comedy directed by one Sidney Poitier. But my favorite has always been See No Evil, Hear No Evil -- a ridiculously plotted ball of laughs that allowed Wilder and Pryor to be their perfect -- and ultimate -- dysfunctional duo selves.
The film revolves around an unlikely friendship between a blind man named Wally (Pryor) and a deaf man named Dave (Wilder). They meet, become friends, and then find themselves embroiled in a messy murder. The cops don't believe them, and the crooks want them dead. Innocent yet desperate bystanders, they set out to stay alive and bring the bad guys to justice -- one of whom just so happens to be Kevin Spacey.
