Exclusive: Ryan Gosling and Will Ferrell are attached to star in Tough Guys, a new action comedy for Amazon MGM Studios, sources tell Deadline.

Reps for Amazon MGM declined to comment.

Originating as a spec from writer Daniel Gold, the story follows two henchmen who are tired of being disposable and break free from the criminal underworld, rewriting the rules as they build a new life on their own terms.

We’re told Gosling and Jessie Henderson are in talks produce through Open Invite Entertainment, which has a first-look deal with Amazon MGM Studios. Ferrell and Jessica Elbaum are in talks to produce for Gloria Sanchez Productions, with Trevor Engelson and Aaron Folbe in talks to exec produce for Underground. No word yet on who’s directing.

Next to be seen in Amazon MGM’s Project Hail Mary, Barbie star Gosling also has Star Wars: Starfighter coming up.

Will Ferrell is set to take on the world of televised courtroom justice.

Ferrell is set to star for director Nicholas Stoller in the comedy feature Judgment Day, which is currently in development at Amazon MGM Studios. Stoller also penned the screenplay.

Judgment Day centers on a young convict who gets out of prison and takes an unscripted TV courtroom hostage, as he is convinced that the TV judge (Ferrell) delivered a ruling that destroyed his life.

Serving as producers are Ferrell, Jessica Elbaum and Alex Brown for Gloria Sanchez Productions and Stoller for Stoller Global Solutions.

Ferrell can soon be seen opposite Reese Witherspoon in Amazon MGM’s movie You’re Cordially Invited, which Stoller directed. The wedding comedy co-stars Geraldine Viswanathan and Jimmy Tatro and begins streaming via Prime Video on Jan. 30.

Stoller is known for helming such films as Bros, Neighbors and its sequel and Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

Will Ferrell is hitting the streets for a new comedy feature from 20th Century Studios.

The performer is attached to produce and star in Street Justice for director Peter Atencio. Dave Callaham is writing the script for the project that will center on a character who decides to deliver his own brand of justice.

Ferrell and Jessica Elbaum of Gloria Sanchez serve as producers alongside David Koplan. Callaham is an executive producer.

Atencio has helmed the features Keanu (2016) and The Machine (2023) and is known for television work on such projects as Key & Peele, The Last Man on Earth and The Afterparty.

Ferrell and fellow Saturday Night Live alum Harper Steele were featured in this year’s Netflix documentary film Will & Harper. Other recent movie credits for Ferrell include Quiz Lady, Barbie and Spirited, along with voice roles in Strays and Despicable Me 4.

Weathers also starred in 1987’s ‘Predator’ and had a memorable role in Adam Sandler’s ‘Happy Gilmore’. He was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for his work in the ‘Star Wars’ series ‘The Mandalorian’.

He voiced Combat Carl in ‘Toy Story 4’ and played a fictionalised version of himself in a recurring role on ‘Arrested Development’.

Marvel's Daredevil is a live action series that follows the journey of attorney Matt Murdock, who in a tragic accident was blinded as a boy but imbued with extraordinary senses. Murdock sets up practice in his old neighborhood of Hell's Kitchen, New York where he now fights against injustice as a respected lawyer by day and masked vigilante at night.

Bear in mind this is a red band clip therefore you probably don’t want to watch it if you’re squeamish! I got to see the movie at SXSW and it’s completely messed up but in a very good way. The movie uses insane violence but in a very comedic way keeping the audience entertained throughout. I guess you could liken it to The Grindhouse Style of movies in Planet Terror and Death Proof which if you’ve not seen, you simply must!

Canadian director Jason Eisener is creating a new genre with his latest film, Hobo with a Shotgun. This violence-ploitation film now has a red band trailer, which is even more bloody than the one seen here (feature trailer Hwas). There are similarities between both of these film reels, but this latest one shows the demise of Santa Claus via shotgun blast and midnight robberies. This most recent clip also shows an ultra-bloody death by digger and Rutger Hauer, as the hobo, acting heroic, with a manhole cover wrapped around his neck, in comic fashion. Watch the gratuitous violence below, with this title releasing on video-on-demand April 1st and in theatres May 5th, through Magnolia Pictures.

Don't remember the faux trailer for Hobo With A Shotgun? Well, then chances are that's because you're not Canadian. The trailer mainly appeared almost excessively in the great white north. Lucky Kanuck's! Regardless the trailer was a huge success and Jason Eisener the mastermind behind the spoof got his chance to turn it into a full length film. Which will show at the Sundance Film Festival this coming year!

Magnet Releasing has picked up the Us distribution rights for Jason Eisener's Hobo with a Shotgun. Magnet plans to distribute the film in 2011 but have not cited an official release date at this time.

Many of you will remember the short film Hobo With A Shotgun, directed by Jason Eisener which won the Grindhouse Trailer Contest put on by the SXSW Film Festival & Robert Rodriguez. It all began with an announcement on Ain’t It Cool News, about a contest that gave a three week deadline to come up with a “grindhouse” style trailer for a fake movie and would later appear in between Rodriguez’s Planet Terror and Tarantino’s Death Proof.

Well ever since the Dartmouth filmmakers’ (Jason Eisener, Robert Cotterill and John Davies) won the notorious Trailer Competition in Austin, they have become a favourite among fans of the gore-action-comedy genre garnering more than 500,000 Internet hits. After much anticipation, the talented trio was ready to give Hobo With A Shotgun feature-length treatment and officially announced their plans to do so when they screened their award winning short film Treevenge at the 2008 Fantasia Film Festival.

Hobo With a Shotgun started life as a trailer for a grindhouse film that didn't exist, and writer/director Jason Eisener spent much of this year shooting an expanded feature version starring Rutger Hauer as the title character. The film is scheduled [1] for the Sundance Film Festival in January, but while there it won't have to go through the rigors of a sale for Us distribution rights. Magnet, the genre arm of Magnolia, has picked up the film for distribution in the Us. THR [2] reports the pickup and quotes Tom Quinn from Magnet calling the film "Pure blood-drunk, bat-shit-crazy fun," elaborating that "both Jason Eisener and Rutger Hauer were born to make Hobo." And if you're keeping track of Magnet purchases, this will go nicely alongside Bangkok Knockout [3], Vanishing on 7th Street, Black Death [4] and The Troll Hunter [5]. Don't remember the faux trailer for Hobo With A Shotgun? Well, then chances are that's because you're not Canadian. The trailer mainly appeared almost excessively in the great white north. Lucky Kanuck's! Regardless the trailer was a huge success and Jason Eisener the mastermind behind the spoof got his chance to turn it into a full length film. On Friday, October 1, 2010, veteran television show creator, producer and screenwriter Stephen J. Cannell passed away from complications arising from melanoma. He was 69 years old.

Throughout the 1980s there wasn't a mainstream television viewer that didn't know his name. If you watched The A-Team, 21 Jump Street, Hardcastle & McCormick, Hunter, Wiseguy, The Commish, The Greatest American Hero, Silk Stalkings, Street Justice, Stingray, Tenspeed and Brownshoe, Booker, Black Sheep Squadron, and you watched the show through until its end credits, you saw his name and face appear on your screen. His production company's credit block was him working away on a typewriter and then pulling out the page, tossing it into the air and watching it resolve into the C. for Stephen J. Cannell Productions.

Omg! I was so saddened to hear this news this afternoon. One of the greatest television creators, Stephen J. Cannell, has passed away today at 68 due to complications associated with melanoma. Here is a statement his family made to the press:

“Aside from being a legendary television producer and prolific writer, Stephen was also a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and a loyal friend. Mr. Cannell is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 46 years, Marcia, their three children, Tawnia, Chelsea and Cody and three grandchildren. Stephen was the pillar of strength within his family and he touched everyone he met. He will be most deeply missed. The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the American Cancer Society or The International Dyslexia Association. Details regarding his memorial service will be released.”

Hobo Concept PosterThere are a few news items related to Jason Eisner's Hobo with a Shotgun developing. First off, a new teaser trailer will be released with Machete, in theatres September 3rd (Eisner); this will occur only in select Canadian theatres. As well, Hobo with a Shotgun has a longer, fuller theatrical trailer for the film, which is shown below.

In the clip central actor Rutger Hauer philosophizes with some babies, while reflecting on the hardships of life. There is little response from the newborns, but there is a response from the local thugs. The clip shows grotesque beheadings, hangings and things generally going to hell, all in a comedic fashion. Which is the greatest desecration of the dead? To piss all over the memory of their achievements by foisting forth a terribly crappy rehashing of their genius entries into the genre? Or to allow them to continue on, shambling forward, sloughing off shoddy shades of their former glory? George Romero has the distinct honor of having not just one of his movies remade but the entire trilogy. I feel like it's disrespectful to trash Romero since he's essentially the granddaddy of the zombie film, if not the founder, or at the very least the one who made them into what they are today. I will always prefer the shambler to the sprinting zombies. Romero was one of the first to recognize that you could slip subtle social commentary into a horror film. Legions of filmmakers followed in his wake, offering commentary on wars and religion and economy as a clever subtext to the splattersploitation.
