Paramount+ is known for hosting some of the best TV shows on any streaming platform, and in January 2025, the lineup remains just as strong as ever. The first month of 2025 sees the arrival of the original Matlock TV series as it joins the new Kathy Bates reboot. This classic courtroom drama, starring Andy Griffith, includes all nine seasons. Sci-fi fans get a treat in January, as the new Star Trek series Section 31 premieres on January 24. Michelle Yeoh reprises her role as Emperor Philippa Georgiou from Star Trek: Discovery.
The biggest news coming in December was that Paramount+ is removing several TV shows from its streaming service. This isn't anything new since both Paramount and Showtime removed several shows last year. The streaming service axed several Nickelodeon shows, including Doug, Blue's Room, Kung-Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness, Fanboy & Chum Chum, The Penguins of Madagascar, Big Time Rush, and Breadwinners (via Us Weekly). Paramount+’s latest purge of content is ruining childhoods, as a substantial number of Nickelodeon shows have or will soon be removed from the platform. While many have become used to discovering old titles such as Doug, Big Time Rush, My Life as a Teenage Robot, Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness, and The Penguins of Madagascar on Paramount+, the decision to remove these and more titles has left many feeling like their ability to relive their childhoods in a nostalgic moment is being abruptly taken away.
Other affected shows include Breadwinners, Game Shakers, House of Anubis, Wonder Pets, Alvinnn!!! and the Chipmunks, Fanboy & Chum Chum, Sanjay & Craig, and Welcome to the Wayne, with the removals drawing a strong reaction from people who grew up with some of these programs. With streamers constantly handing off content from one platform to another, fans have vented their frustration at shows and...

The streamer is doing a little housekeeping ahead of the new year, to the chagrin of kids and nostalgic adults.
Paramount has decided not to wait until spring to get a little spring cleaning done. Specifically, the company has undertaken a new round of content removals from its streamer Paramount+, and like previous culls this batch of pulled titles is heavily affecting kids and families. It’s all in the name of lowering backend streaming costs, but that’s of little comfort to customers who might be seeing their favorite titles removed.
Key Details: Arguably the most well-known title removed from Paramount+ is the 1990s cartoon “Doug.” Movies from the “Kung Fu Panda” and “Madagascar” franchise have also been pulled. Paramount+ could see more content removals as its parent company continues a merger with Skydance Media. 7-Day Free Trial $7.99+ / month paramountplus.com

When Lifetime premiered the first-ever season of Married at First Sight in 2014, reality TV viewers were skeptical. Two total strangers getting married without knowing one another doesn't sound like a recipe for success. As they learn about one another during their honeymoon phase and even live together for weeks, they have the option of getting divorced or staying married. Thanks to the help of dating experts, a few couples have defied the odds and have remained married to this day.
Now in its 18th season, Married at First Sight has clearly not worked out for most couples. However, those who are still married prove that the show does work. Season 1 includes the longest-lasting couple from the Lifetime series. As of this writing, 11 couples have continued to stay married and have even started families.

The original voice cast of Futurama is back for the show's eleventh season, bringing iconic characters like Fry, Leela, and Bender to life once again. Billy West, who voices multiple roles, including Fry and Professor Farnsworth, also played Ren and Stimpy in The Ren & Stimpy Show, and even took over the role of Bugs Bunny in Space Jam. Katey Sagal, known for her live-action roles in Married... with Children and Sons of Anarchy, stars as Leela, the capable warrior and captain of the Planet Express ship.
The Futurama cast of characters is one of the reasons the animated comedy remains so beloved after various cancelations and revivals, and most of the cast of Futurama season 12 has been present since the very first episode aired in 1999. While the show's premise and comedy are great, it is the Futurama characters that Fry meets in this new reality that makes the show so special,...

The Hollow Earth is a hidden world full of unique flora and fauna, including monsters like the Drownviper and Warbats. Totally original Hollow Earth creatures like Skullcrawlers and Vertacines prove that the setting is a blank slate for the Monsterverse. The Subterranean Realm introduces new monsters like Titanus Shimo and Skar King, adding depth to the Hollow Earth lore and setting up a new location.
As Legendary's Monsterverse has continued to expand, many new monsters have been introduced, along with several new locations hiding underneath the surface of the world, known collectively as the Hollow Earth. The Hollow Earth realms are the home to different species of flora and fauna, and operate under different rules of physics in some instances. Star Trek: Discovery is single-handedly responsible for launching the franchise renaissance when it premiered in 2017. At the time, there were serious questions about Star Trek's future, with the last TV series ending almost a decade earlier and the Kelvinverse Star Trek movies seemingly wrapping up. Had Discovery failed, the entire franchise might have finally folded up shop.
Discovery begins its fifth and final season amid a bumper crop of Star Trek shows, with more on the way and the future looking very bright. That makes it the most important entry in the franchise since Star Trek: The Next Generation premiered 30 years previously. With the fifth season slated to arrive later in the spring, the fanbase has been abuzz with questions. As usual, the show has remained shrouded in mystery about a number of key details, but a few facts have been confirmed. Here's everything viewers know about of Star Trek: Discovery Season 5 so far.

Updated: There has been another round of content removal from Disney+, this time in the Emea region, which consists of Europe, the Middle East and Africa. More than 120 titles have been taken off this week, primarily Disney Channel original movies and vintage Disney live-action films, as well as a few series, including Zeke and Luther, Pepper Ann, So Random and the first three seasons of Nat Geo’s Genius and ESPN/Nat Geo docs.
According to sources, the takedowns were a result of a library title review. There have been several content purges at Disney+ over the last year amid cost-cutting, most notably the removal of a slew of original series last May.
Here is a list of movie titles that are said to be gone from Disney+ in Emea, compiled by Drew Ryan.

The appearance of a baby ape Titan in the Godzilla x Kong trailer suggests that Titanus Doug may be part of its story, potentially acting as a friendly character. A new toyline for the movie features an action figure of the baby ape Titan named Suko, packaged with Titanus Doug, indicating that they might share screen-time. Based on the positive response to Titanus Doug, it's likely that he will join the Monsterverse's benevolent Titans, potentially accompanying the human characters and Suko on their adventure in the Hollow Earth.

The American MonsterVerse has its issues, like underwhelming human stories — especially compared to the Japanese "Godzilla" movies — but it does deliver on the big-budget kaiju action and worldbuilding. These movies present the kind of awesome destruction that can only be achieved by spending hundreds of millions of dollars, and it rules. Meanwhile, where most of the Japanese "Godzilla" movies are only loosely connected, the MonsterVerse has created a proper continuity of kaiju mayhem.
The MonsterVerse is full of strange creatures and locations connected through the outlandish concept of the Hollow Earth (a thing that raises twice as many questions as it even begins to answer). Sure, Godzilla and Kong are the stars, but there are so many other kaiju and critters that have got their time to shine, whether it's Japanese icons like Mothra and Ghidora, or new kaiju like Titanus Doug. Prior to the debut of "Futurama" in 1999, preeminent voice actor Billy West was already a towering presence in his field. He had previously played Doug Funnie in the hit Nickelodeon series "Doug," in addition to voicing the Larry Fine-like Stimpson J. Cat on "The Ren & Stimpy Show" opposite show creator John Kricfalusi. When Kricfalusi was fired for missing deadlines, West took over the role, playing both leads for the bulk of the series. West also played Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd in the 1996 oddity "Space Jam" and has voiced the Honey Nut Cheerios Bee and the Red M&m in myriad TV commercials.
In the normal course of seeking more work, sometime in the late '90s, West found himself in front of the casting directors for Matt Groening's and David X. Cohen's new sci-fi sitcom. West, of course, would be cast in multiple roles for "Futurama,...

Fan theories can change the way we view our favorite Nickelodeon shows, introducing dark and disturbing undertones that may not have been intended by the creators. The theories range from character interpretations to reimagining the entire premise of the show, providing completely different viewing experiences. The theories cover popular shows such as Avatar: The Last Airbender, CatDog, Doug, Drake & Josh, The Fairly OddParents, Hey Arnold!, Ren and Stimpy, Rugrats, SpongeBob SquarePants, and The Wild Thornberrys.

Earlier this year, Disney released Prom Pact on Disney+ and audiences quickly noticed the inclusion of some very creepy digital extras that look like Sims characters. The revival, titled Doug Kids, would feature the adult versions of Doug, Patti, Skeeter, and Roger, as well as Doug's two children and a puppy. The sequel is still in the early stages of development and has received approval from Disney, who has the rights to Doug.

Nickelodeon's 90s Halloween specials helped capture the essence of what made Halloween entertaining for young audiences. Nickelodeon's Halloween specials from shows like Rugrats, Aaahh!!! Real Monsters and Hey Arnold! all balanced spooky moments with the fun of innocence. Nickelodeon's live-action Halloween specials on shows like Clarissa Explains It All and The Adventures of Pete and Pete showed that the animated quirkiness of other shows could easily translate to spooky live-action entertainment.
There is no time of the year as mysteriously enchanting as the Halloween season. For TV viewers who grew up in the 1990s, Nickelodeon was the go-to network for Halloween specials -- both animated and live-action alike. Shows like The Adventures of Pete and Pete, Doug, Rugrats, and Hey Arnold! are just a few of the common programs Nickelodeon rolled out that helped define the Halloween experience for so many.
There's a reason these specials still resonate with audiences today.

'90s Nicktoons were a special era of animation. Shows like "Rugrats," "The Wild Thornberries," and "Doug" offered colorful, funny stories for kids, but if you watched them long enough, they also occasionally told heartfelt stories with a purpose.
