In King of the Hill, the ridiculous clips of Monsignor Martinez are always good for a quick laugh, but if the television gods had complied, we could have gotten a lot more of him.

She began her career in a much different way, writing lighthearted TV shows for children, as well as a few animated movies. In the opening image of “I Saw the TV Glow” the camera moves slowly down the middle of a suburban street. Dusk, it’s dark, but the sky has a hint of electric blue, as the camera passes over children’s chalk drawings that pop from the pavement like incandescent lights toward a neon-lit ice cream truck playing a slowed down children’s tune. This establishing shot embodies the magical, but slightly eery tone of the first half of the film and the childhood world of Owen, who we cut to watching television in the dark.

Coolio's iconic theme song for Kenan & Kel defines 90s pop culture with catchy beats and nostalgic references. Kenan & Kel's mature humor and Coolio's involvement set it apart from other kids' sitcoms of the time. Coolio's '90s legacy includes memorable TV cameos, with Kenan and Kel recalling his funny appearance on All That.
The Kenan & Kel theme song is a memorable tune thanks to Coolio's beats and how it captures the essence of the '90s. The Nickelodeon sitcom ran for four seasons and starred Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell as the titular characters. A popular comedy about Kenan's attempts to get rich quickly and Kel's inevitable ruination of his plans, the series has remained in the pop culture conversation longer than other similar shows of the time thanks to Kenan's long career on SNL and the revival of the pair's Good Burger series with Good Burger 2.

If there's one actress whose name is synonymous with the "Halloween" franchise, created by director John Carpenter in 1978, it's Jamie Lee Curtis. If there's another, it's Danielle Harris. Curtis holds the record for most "Halloween" movie appearances with six film, not counting archival footage, and the late Donald Pleasance is in five (though his likeness was used in the new "Halloween" trilogy). Harris, however, appearing in four "Halloween" movies, is the only actress to play two different characters in the franchise, and she did so by never taking no for an answer. When conditions were wrong, she walked, and when arbitrary directorial edicts threatened to block her, she acted her way back in with the best audition.
Harris was a young child when she first encountered Michael Myers. What happened to that little girl? She grew up, but she never stopped working. These days, she's a mother in real life,...

The 1990s was a golden era for TV shows, with a mix of dramas, sitcoms, and sketch comedies that are still beloved today. Shows like "Friends," "Dawson's Creek," and "Beverly Hills, 90210" tackled important social issues, while "The Nanny" and "Clarissa Explains It All" brought laughter to audiences. The diverse cast of "All That" and the groundbreaking female-led "Clarissa Explains It All" paved the way for future shows, making the 1990s a decade of television nostalgia.

Melissa Joan Hart has been in show business since she was a young girl breaking out in the Nickelodeon sitcom Clarissa Explains It All. Hart would go on to star in the ABC sitcom Sabrina the Teenage Witch, part of the family-friendly primetime programming block known as Tgif.
However, when the TV star went on to pose for Maxim, the magazine with risqué photo shoots, Hart found herself in quite the predicament that no spell could help her get out of.
Hart made an appearance on the Pod Meets World podcast where she recounted a whirlwind of a night the night Drive Me Crazy premiered in 1999. The star said she had broken up with her boyfriend but had to wait inside her limo until Britney Spears arrived so they could take photos together.
After doing the red carpet, Hart was to leave the screening to shoot her part in Scary Movie,...

Spoiler Alert: Do not read ahead if you have not watched the Season 9, episode 9 of “The Masked Singer,” which aired April 12 on Fox.
It was “Masked Singer in Space Night,” but “The Masked Singer” could have also been celebrating “’90s Night.” That’s because the two celebrities unmasked on Wednesday’s episodes were both TV stars from that era: Melissa Joan Hart (of “Clarissa Explains It All” and “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” fame) and Alicia Witt. Hart was revealed to be Lamp, while Witt was Dandelion.
Witt had won the previous week as Dandelion, but her journey ended here. For Dandelion, panelist Ken Jeong guessed Witt right. Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg thought it was Milla Jovovich. Robin Thicke went with Sara Bareilles and Nicole Scherzinger named Zooey Deschanel.
For Lamp, McCarthy Wahlberg, Thicke and Scherzinger all got it right with Hart. Jeong went rogue with Michelle Williams.

Melissa Joan Hart, the actor who became a ’90s teen icon thanks to her roles on Nickelodeon’s “Clarissa Explains It All” and ABC’s “Sabrina the Teenage Witch,” revealed in an emotional Instagram video that she helped young children and teachers escape the Nashville school shooting on March 27. Three adults and three 9-year-old children were killed by the 28-year-old Audrey Hale at Nashville’s Covenant School. The shooter was shot and killed by police on site.
“My kids go to school right next to a school where there was a shooting today,” Hart said in the Instagram video. “My husband and I were on our way to [their] school for conferences. Luckily our kids weren’t in today.”
Hart, who lives in Nashville, spotted children fleeing the Covenant School during the drive and stopped to help bring them to safety.

Millennials never got to see Nickelodeon’s proposed Clarissa Explains It All reboot, but Melissa Joan Hart wasn’t the biggest fan of the project’s plotline anyway. “I believe it was that Clarissa is divorced and moving to California with her two kids and living on the beach in California with her aunt,” Hart told Insider in a recent interview. “So I don’t know. It wasn’t my favorite way in.” Hart, 46, played the eponymous teen of Clarissa Explains It All for the Nick sitcom’s five-season run between 1991 and 1994, before going on to star in the ABC sitcom Sabrina the Teenage Witch and the ABC Family comedy Melissa & Joey. Mark Malabrigo/Nickelodeon In 2018, Nickelodeon was in early stages of a Clarissa Explains It All reboot, with Hart executive-producing the project alongside series creator Mitchell Kriegman, according to The Hollywood Reporter. But four years later, Hart revealed...

With Christmas just a few weeks away, it's important to recognize one of the original kingmakers of all holiday media: the Lifetime channel. Lifetime runs tons of holiday programming at the end of the year, touting gingerbread factories, snow globe scenery, and big-city women who learn the real meaning of Christmas from a small town and a single dad and his adorable child.
When lights aren't twinkling on the tree, however, Lifetime is America's epicenter of kind-of-true crime and fictionalized films starring women in peril. It's almost as if it's a formula just waiting for memeing.

Melissa Joan Hart is putting an end to rumours circulating online that she and Lena Dunham are feuding.
The former child star, who rose to fame on the 90s sitcom “Sabrina the Teenage Witch”, took to Instagram on Friday to lay the “hot gossip” to rest.
Hart, 46, began her post by noting that she’s been “truly confused” by tabloid rumours, suggesting that she “has it out for Lena Dunham” and that the two have been longtime “frenemies,” because she seemingly didn’t know they existed until “numerous friends” asked her about her “rivalry” with the former “Girls” actress, 36.

This Halloween, we're throwing it back to the 1990s. We've hand-picked some pop culture '90s icons who would make like, totally easy costumes. Think: Spice Girls; Romy and Michele from "Romy and Michele's High School Reunion," Tia Landry and Tamera Campbell from "Sister, Sister," Will and Carlton from "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air"; Alex Mack from "The Secret World of Alex Mack"; Clarissa Darling from "Clarissa Explains It All"; and Cory, Shawn, and Topanga from "Boy Meets World."
And if you're still celebrating the release of "Hocus Pocus 2," you can dress up as the Sanderson Sisters. "Hocus Pocus 2" was released on Disney+ on Sept. 30, and it stars Whitney Peak, Lilia Buckingham, and Belissa Escobedo as the three teenage girls who set the movie's events into motion. Lena’s Dunham’s new film Catherine Called Birdy represents a difficult case for this critic. The overwhelming feeling of “it’s simply not for me” throughout the runtime makes it an instance of having to determine if what rang as false or annoying was simply a personal failing. And there’s certainly passion here: Dunham made her personal investment clear before the screening, noting how reading the young adult book by Karen Cushman as an alienated 10-year-old weirdo in 1996 was a life-transforming event. And speaking as one who was definitely a 10-year-old weirdo themselves, the passion is observed, if not totally felt.
Living in 13th-century England, Birdy (Bella Ramsey) is an obnoxious, opinionated, but also intelligent and animal-loving 14-year-old who causes quite the stir amongst all the adults in her life, including of course her exasperated father Sir Rollo (Andrew Scott) and mother Lady Aislinn (Billie Piper). "What's the matter? I have to be a witch, I have to be a mortal, I have to be a teenager and I have to be a girl all at the same time. That's what's the matter." It's not often that an actor lands two iconic roles during their career. And yet, by the time she had turned 20 years old, Melissa Joan Hart had already starred in two genre-defining series. First, Hart played the titular character in Clarissa Explains It All, which ran on Nickelodeon from 1991 to 1994. Five years later, she once again netted the title role in a show: Sabrina The Teenage Witch. After first starring as the Archie Comics witch in a 1996 movie, Hart, who turns 46 April 18, cast spells and stirred up trouble on...

Melissa Joan Hart told fans of her ’90s Nickelodeon show “Clarissa Explains It All” is no longer happening, People reports.
Hart was attending ’90s Con in Hartford, Connecticut, on Saturday and sitting in on the panel for “Sabrina, the Teenage Witch,” her other ’90s series, when she was asked about the status of the “Clarissa” reboot, which was first reported in 2018.
“We tried that, actually. Nickelodeon got a new president, and they kind of squashed the whole thing,” Hart said of the reboot, according to People, and referring to Bryan Robbins, who took over as president of the cable network for kids from Cyma Zarghami in 2018. “So it was actually in the works and, yeah, it just sort of disappeared. It took like a year to do the contracts, which was the hardest part, and then it just kind of fizzled out. So I don’t think [it will happen].”

I met Danielle Perez during an event for the podcast The Bechdel Cast, where she was talking about “Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion.” It was my first few weeks of living in Los Angeles, and as a disabled woman who was bemoaning the lack of disabled people in the city, to see a disabled woman of color not just onstage but rocking it was amazing.
Since that time, Perez has blossomed into a regular face in the stand-up world, and has been writing for television — her latest job is on the Netflix series “The Wedding Coach” — as well as making regular television appearances like in Ryan O’Connell’s Emmy-winning series “Special.”
When it comes to a discussion of representation, Perez approaches it differently because she became a wheelchair user when she was 20. But she was already cognizant of how television viewed her, as she is Afro-Latina. “I knew I...

If any living actor knows how to prepare for a death scene, it’s probably Sean Bean. From The Lord of the Rings to GoldenEye, Patriot Games or Clarissa, the man has learned his away around simulating that last breath. But probably his most famous death scene, at least this side of Gondor, was also one of the most brutally sudden: when Lord Eddard Stark of Winterfell gets beheaded on the steps of Baelor in Game of Thrones.
The sequence, which occurs during the ninth episode of Game of Thrones’ first season, ominously titled “Baelor,” is the one that came to define the show’s reputation for cruel thrills, and an unsentimental mean streak that allowed it to kill major protagonists off without a seeming second thought. And there was apparently no forethought at all from King Joffrey Baratheon (Jack Gleeson), the vicious boy king who gave the order to...

Making a short film is hard enough — but imagine making one on very little budget, or during the coronavirus pandemic.
On the panel titled “Telling our Stories Film Contest” at TheWrap’s Power Women Summit, six finalists of the contest presented by Starz and TheWrap delved into the challenges of making their films. All six finalists — which were chosen out of 1,100 submissions evaluated by industry professionals — will see their work on Starz, with the winner receiving a $10,000 prize.
One finalist, Jazmin Johnson, wrote and directed “Sounds of War,” which depicts her thoughts as a young Black woman in America. She said she made her movie over the summer, right after George Floyd’s death and in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic.

We have a new trailer for The Orange Years: The Nickelodeon Story, which should appeal to just about anyone who had cable and grew up in the 90s. The documentary, as the title suggests, chronicles the rise of Nickelodeon to prominence within the pop culture landscape. This initial look at the movie should serve as a huge boost of nostalgia for those who watched these shows growing up, but it also looks to provide a better understanding of how all of these shows came to be.
The trailer kicks off with a couple of the biggest stars from the network's glory days explaining what it was like behind the scenes. We then see someone getting slimed, something any fans of the Nick in the 90s will be familiar with. Described as the "anti-Disney," we are offered a window into what was going on behind the scenes that helped make the network what it became.

The multi-camera followed 13-year-old Nick, short for Nicole, who infiltrates a family with the intention to get revenge on them for unknowingly ruining her life. As she gets to know the family, she will find compassion for them and will struggle with whether or not she can ultimately go through with the plan.
Hart played the career mom to Astin’s knuckle-headed dad, with Siena Agudong (Nickelodeon’s “Star Falls”) as Nick. It also starred Lauren Lindsey Donzis and Kalama Epstein, who are also veteran child actors.

Melissa Joan Hart is returning to Nickelodeon for her first series at the cable channel since “Clarissa Explains It All.” Hart, Ken Jeong and Eugenio Derbez have been cast in animated series “The Casagrandes,” which is a companion series to “The Loud House.”
Source series “The Loud House” has been renewed for a 26-episode fifth season ahead of its Season 4 premiere, Nick said on Tuesday. Spinoff “The Casagrandes” will debut in October.
The new 2D cartoon will tell the story of the titular Casagrandes, a big, loving and multi-generational Mexican-American family living together in the city. Derbez lends his voice as Dr. Santiago, a physician living and working in Peru, who is Ronnie Anne and Bobby’s (more on them below) father. Jeong voices Mr. Stanley Chang, a friendly and patient train conductor, and Hart voices his wife Mrs. Becca Chang, a quirky, smart and funny zoologist.

The beloved animated series “Kim Possible,” which aired for five years on the Disney Channel in the early aughts, connected with its audience because it portrayed a strong but fashion-forward young woman who fought crime and got good grades. So it only makes sense that when the network decided to reboot the story and titular character as a live-action TV movie, the creative team behind it would want to preserve the message of female empowerment while updating the tale to relate to a whole new batch of 6 to 14-year-old viewers.
“When I first joined the project, it was right around the time ‘Wonder Woman’ had been released,” says executive producer Zanne Devine. “Given this moment in time, my pitch was this is ‘Wonder Woman’ for the prepubescent set.”
