Patrick Macnee was three months older than Sir Christopher Lee. Both were in the same class at Summer Fields School. Lee died on June 7, 2015, and Macnee died on June 25, 2015.
Executive Producer Harry Alan Towers has said in interviews his first choices for Dr. Watson were Gordon Jackson and Nigel Stock, but he soon found out that both men had died.
Sir Christopher Lee appeared in at least six Sir Arthur Conan Doyle filmed adaptations or related filmed productions. They are: "Le chien des Baskerville (1959)," "Sherlock Holmes et le Collier de la mort (1962)," "La vie privée de Sherlock Holmes (1970)," this movie, "Sherlock Holmes: Incident at Victoria Falls" (1992), and the "The Leather Funnel" episode of "Les mystères d'Orson Welles (1973)."
Michael Siberry appeared in The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (1984) season one, episode four, "The Solitary Cyclist". He played Woodley.
The original, complete version of Sherlock Holmes and the Leading Lady was 3 hours and 7 minutes. It aired in Canada over 2 nights: December 6 and December 13, 1991. When it was issued on VHS videotape in the USA on May 20, 1982, the film was edited down to 2 hours and 2 minutes.
