A simple medieval fantasy story with six heroes as the main characters. It's been a long time since I've seen fables of this style, so when I heard about this anime, my first thought was: "A series for me."
Even while watching it, I couldn't help but notice similarities to the video game Dragon's Dogma, especially in how sorcerers work in both, with the ability to enchant their companions' swords. The artwork also has a very retro style-it even makes me think it might have inspired Artix Games. However, there are moments where the fight choreography leaves something to be desired, despite the animation being almost masterful. In the end, I feel like this anime inspired several other works.
I think the first two episodes have a rather odd pacing, but then it starts to take shape. Although, throughout the episodes, there are some confusing elements. If I had to focus on very specific moments for criticism, I would consider things like... What was Deedlit doing in episode 2 when she met Parn? Did she summon a tornado to deflect the goblins? When exactly did they go to see Wort in episode 7? Or in episode 1, when does it actually take place? I'm also not a big fan of the flashbacks, mainly because you could say the story really starts in the second episode. I prefer something more linear and coherent.
While I feel that this series stands out more for its animation and that the story could have been better, the truth is that it's still worth watching. The idea is good, but everything feels too rushed.
