Good Cheap Made for TV Melodrama Sleaze

I liked it. Yes it is a Lifetime movie where TWO women get victimized by their sleazebag joint hubby, played well by Gerald McRaney as Tom Weston. He is obviously having a mid life crisis of his life of comfortable blue collar delivery truck driving dullness. His attractive wife Nancy, played by Peggy Lipton, looks too good to be rejected by her not very fabulous husband. Then he finds some young dull but pretty laundry worker Bobbie played by Josie Bissett to woo and then secretly and illegally married. It was a real comic set up where young Bobbi acted like just a family friend in front of Nancy because Tom managed to buffalo Nancy to not trust her feelings. Bobbie even befriended Nancy. Weird. Then Tom came up with this hare brained plan to use explosives to off his 1st wife. Then after he fails and is arrested for attempted murder, he becomes sort of a jailhouse heavy as he plans to have one of his wives bumped off.

OK it was a low budget Canadian flick where Vancouver doubled in for Northern Michigan, which is not a stretch. But It was watchable and fun and wasn't that predictable. I recommend it!

Great movie, Great memories

WOW! This was the first movie Î had ever seen on Lifetime Movie Network with my cousin a few years ago, and it was wonderful. Sure, it probably has a horrible plot, bad actors, and a terrible ending, but it's the memories that count. Anyway, I recommend this movie to anyone who wants to have fun with a lot of friends.

Gut- churning TV movie thriller will touch you ...in all the wrong places

Well you know what... I quite like made for TV movies with "Deadly" in the title but this one is kind of an unholy storm of very wrong things.

If I'm honest it's skating quite close to being horror so don't put it on in front of grandma

Basically a creepy middle aged man decides to have a full on midlife crisis and get himself a 20 year old girlfriend. He then concocts a rubbish plan to get rid of one of the women in his life.

Highlights of this film include one of the most cringe- inducing vomitus love scenes ever. I don't want to call it love but I can't call it sex because that doesn't happen thankfully for us all. If you enjoy seeing a podgy middle aged man perving over a boggle- eyed dense young girl then your luck is well and truly in. For the rest of us prepare for gut heaving scenes of unparalleled grossness that will have you shouting at the TV and making retching noises. If you are hoping to see a young made for TV actress without her top on watch something else. The only person without their top on here is our leading man. So if what you most want to see hairy moobs, you have also hit the jackpot.

To be fair, this guy does an amazing job of being absolutely repellent and loathsome, so hats off to you big man -have three stars for your trouble.

I'm not convinced

This TV movie from the 1990's was filled with a lot of annoying themes. A young woman falls in love with a much older man, who is already married. He spins her a lot of lies so that she's pulled in. This man is sly and creepy, portrayed well by the actor, but it's still disgusting. He's abusive to his wife who lives at home, and he's got his mistress that he shows off to everyone. It says based on a true story but I can't find any evidence of that. I was appalled by this film.

If This Wasn't Based on a True Story, The Rating Would Have Been Lower

If I did not know that 'Deadly Vows' was based on a true story, the whole concept would have been harder for me to believe or endure. It is a shocking tale of perversity, naivety, and murder, that will shock all of its audience to the core, one which will make you question why there is such evil in the world.

In this film, this evil is brilliantly portrayed by Gerald McRaney as Tom Weston (whose real name was Robert Harnois for those who are interested). He displays all the creepiness, arrogance, and aggression of a sexual predator of this sort. The female actresses, on the other hand, Peggy Lipton and Josie Bissett, also display all the innocence and naivety of two women who do not know what kind of a monster they are married to. Yes, he was married to both at the same time because of his deception and manipulation, which is also a criminal offence in most of the world in itself.

The story might seem over the top, but keep in mind that it is based on a true story.
