The 12th Fail director said that Sanjay Leela Bhansali who was his assistant during that time was asked to cut the trailer for 1942: A Love Story by him.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi series was released on Netflix on May 1, 2024. The series marked the director’s Ott debut and has received mixed reactions. It stars Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sharmin Segal, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Fardeen Khan, Shekhar Suman, Adhyayan Suman, and others. The period drama has eight episodes overall, each lasting at least an hour.

Heeramandi on Netflix is based on the life of courtesans during India’s pre-independence period. It’s a story of love, revenge, power, and politics. As the Vidhu Vinod Chopra directorial ‘1942: A Love Story’ clocked 30 years on Monday, veteran actor Jackie Shroff celebrated the occasion by sharing a video montage on his social media.

Jackie took to Instagram stories to share a video montage featuring memorable moments from the film, which also stars Anil Kapoor, Manisha Koirala, Anupam Kher, Danny Denzongpa, Pran, and Brian Glover.

The video shared by the actor was captioned: “Celebrating 30 years of ‘1942: A Love Story’.”

The film talks about lovers, who come from different family backgrounds, and showcases how their relationship is threatened due to the outbreak of the Indian revolutionary movement.

Netflix has unveiled the first footage from ‘Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar,’ a period drama series by Bollywood’s supreme on-screen stylist Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

Nitin Chandrakant Desai, the prominent Bollywood production designer of the Oscar-nominated music sports drama Lagaan, has died. He was 57.

Desai reportedly was found dead at his studio in Karat, near Mumbai. The Indian Express and other local news agencies have reported police initially are suspecting suicide. Investigations are continuing.

Desai was known for his colorful work on the 2001 blockbuster Lagaan and Devdas, the BAFTA-nominated Indian drama from a year later. During his long career he also worked on another Oscar-nominated feature, 1988’s Salaam Bombay!, and on 1942: A Love Story (1993), Hum Do De Choke Sanam (1999) and Jodhaa Akbar (2008), among others. He also designed the set for Kaun Banega Crorepati? in Slumdog Millionaire and worked as a producer on several films and TV shows. Nitin Chandrakant Desai, the Indian production designer best known for his work on the Oscar-nominated “Lagaan” (2001) and BAFTA-nominated “Devdas” (2002), was found dead Aug. 2 at his studio in Karjat, near Bollywood capital Mumbai. He was 57.

According to Indian news agency Pti, local police suspect that Desai allegedly died of suicide, though they are investigating further.

Anil took to Instagram, where he shared a string of photographs featuring his journey of four decades in Bollywood. The pictures show Anil winning multiple award during his run in the showbiz industry.

He captioned it: “In the 4 decades that I’ve been around, tides have changed, talent has changed, tastes have changed and audiences certainly have changed… The one thing that hasn’t changed is the virtue of hard work, persistence and conviction, and they are rewards enough.. Mumbai, Nov 23 (Ians) Bollywood actress Yami Gautam is currently shooting for her forthcoming flick Bhoot Police in Himachal Pradesh. On Monday the actress teased fans by sharing a photograph of a bungalow located in Dalhousie where the film is being shot.

"Can you guess which film in the 90s was shot at this beautiful heritage home #BhootPolice," Yami posted on her verified Instagram account along with the photo of the bungalow.

Commenting on her post, many netizens correctly replied saying that Vidhu Vinod Chopra's 1994 Anil Kapoor-Manisha Koirala film "1942: A Love Story" was shot in the same bungalow.

The bungalow seems to be a favourite shooting destination for B-Town filmmakers, as actor Vikrant Massey also recalled shooting for the 2013 film "Lootera" in the house.

Commenting on Yami's post, Vikrant revealed: "I shot Lootera here."

Yami has been shooting in the mountains of Himachal for a while now.

Bhanu Athaiya, the costume designer who became the first Indian to win an Oscar, for Richard Attenborough’s “Gandhi” (1982), died at her home in Mumbai Thursday after a prolonged illness. She was 91.

Athaiya was suffering from a brain tumor for the last eight years, her daughter Radhika Gupta told news agency Pti.

Athaiya was born in Kolhapur, western India, in 1929. She began her career as a fashion illustrator for magazines before she moved to designing costumes for films.
