The first poster for the film has been released, along with several stills; fans of independent horror can find the graphics here. As well, the film stars: Vanessa Angel (“Weird Science”), Hutch Dano (Zombeavers), Reggie Lee (NBC’s “Grimm”), Lew Temple (AMC’s “The Walking Dead”) and Bailey Spry (It Follows). A preview of the film's terror is hosted here. From the logline, an evil abode is waiting for a new family to arrive. When they turn up, this haunted house will not let them leave, ever! Adult Swim is gearing up for the next season of Rick and Morty, their cultish animated hit following the inter-dimensional doings of the titular mad-scientist grandfather and dopey grandson. Today, the network finally released a full trailer for Rick and Morty Season 2 and there's some revealing details that can be gleaned from the scenes previewed. Most remarkable is the narrative decision to have the entire family, outside of the titular duo, get involved in their crazed adventures across inventive planets with aliens and creatures that, often enough, act just like humans. Indeed, the trailer makes a point of highlighting a scene where Morty's mother, Beth, tells her husband, Jerry, that they have to listen to Ricky from here on out, which seems like a risky proposition to say the very least. And though I didn't see a single Mr. Meeseeks, there are plenty of creatures and wild landscapes at play in the trailer,...

Charlie Lyne's documentary Beyond Clueless harks back to the classic teen movies that shaped the '90s.
Featuring narration from The Craft's Fairuza Balk (and with clips of Robin Tunney, Devon Sawa and co), it made us feel a sudden pang of nostalgia and sent us on our own trip down memory lane to find out where they - and the rest of the '90s teen movie crew - are now.
So, here are 11 stars from some of our favourite '90s teen movies, and what they've gone on to do since:
1. Devon Sawa - Idle Hands (1999)
Dreamy Devon Sawa starred as lazy stoner Anton Tobias - who turns mass murderer after his hand becomes possessed - in the horror comedy Idle Hands.
He went on to play teenage prophet of doom Alex Browning in Final Destination (2000), and appeared as similarly unstable Stan in Eminem's controversial music...

The first "Dumb and Dumber" came out way back in 1994, so it's no surprise last night's premiere for the sequel, "Dumb and Dumber To," was packed full of stars that made us feel a little nostalgic.Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels paid homage to their on-screen alter-egos by dressing in suits similar to the tuxedos they famously sported in the '90s flick. The two also showed up to the red carpet in one very familiar vehicle: The Mutt Cutts van!But the flashbacks didn't stop there. While original film star (and Carrey ex-wife) Lauren Holly was sadly Mia, another pair of '90s women caught our eyes.Vanessa Angel -- who starred in one of the Farrelly Brothers' other films, "Kingpin," as well as the TV version of "Weird Science" -- looked sexy as ever in black leather and lace. Now 47, Angel most recently appeared on an episode of...

While everyone is still reeling from Sunday’s Breaking Bad finale, here’s a roundup from the lighter, non-Meth side with “Animation Domination” over on Fox (the season premieres of The Simpsons, Bob’s Burgers, Family Guy, and American Dad!) and the comic stylings of Stephen Merchant over on HBO (the series premiere of Hello Ladies). Here are the highlights, lowlights, and “what the…?”s of the evening.
The Simpsons, Season 25, Episode 1, “Homerland”
Written by Stephanie Gillis
Directed by Bob Anderson
Airs Sundays at 8pm Est on Fox
Ringing in its 25th season (seriously, the show can rent a car now), The Simpsons begins the year with a not-quite-so-timely riff on Homeland, which celebrates its own third season premiere this week. There are a few laughs, but not as many as the writers were lunging for a la Family Guy (i.e. a flashback to Homer’s “southern accent”) and...

A ravenous ghoul terrorizes a cast member of “Modern Family”. A Twilight wolfman and his real-life sister go hunting for supernatural evil. Younger horror fans get to start the new year off with Ghoul and Hansel & Gretel: Warriors of Witchcraft on DVD.
Who would have ever thought Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters would inspire so many b-movie knock-offs? Sure, we’re only talking two, but that’s still two more than I would have expected.
While The Asylum’s Hansel & Gretel name-only mockbuster takes a more modern horror approach, Lionsgate has one that looks to be more of a tweener-friendly version of the R-rated big screen version. Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, allow me to introduce you to Hansel & Gretel: Warriors of Witchcraft.
Jonah And Ella Mazer (Hansel and Gretel) were happy, normal teenagers–sent to an elite boarding school. The Headmaster, Sebastian, seems to know more about the brother and sister than they know about themselves.

Continuing on from part one, when comedy meets horror is an attempt to track the most interesting examples of films that mix comedy and horror together. As a genre, its possibly the one that can be pinpointed as the biggest perpetrator for bad horror movies. For example, Scary Movie is the film that comes to mind with people who have a less specialist interest in cinema. Just before we get into part 2, I can safely report that the aforementioned franchise won’t be getting its mits anywhere near these articles. Also, another worthy note of mention – look forward to part 5 in which the entries will be “the greatest horror comedies ever made”. Until then, we are just warming up.
Save The Green Planet
Save the green planet is quite the Korean eccentricity. Mixing together torture, slapstick comedy, highly stylised fight scenes, police procedural and sci-fi results in a concoction that defies definition.

Hothouse Bruiser is a retro-futuristic noir audio drama coming soon as an app available for all iPod and Android devices. The nine-part, 30-minute episode series follows the adventures of Jason Brusman, aka Bruiser, an ex-cop stuck behind the walls of a quarantined downtown Los Angeles.
Several members of the extensive cast for Hothouse Bruiser were on hand at a recent pre-release party attended by Bad Lit: The Journal of Underground Film. Above we had our picture taken with Denise Crosby (Star Trek: The Next Generation) who provides the voice of Ginny Mills, a tequila brewer with a startling scientific secret. The bulk of the series is voiced by Paul Nobrega, pictured above, who stars as the Bruiser himself, an ex-lapd detective now working as a hired goon for SaegerTech, the shady corporation that has set itself up as the de facto...

For a couple of seasons, friend-of-the-site Elric Kane produced and directed a little weekly horror-themed internet chat show called “This Week In…Horror!” (You might remember a certain Tfh-themed episode featuring Our Fearless Leader.) That show went away, mutated, transmogrified and grew up a bit to become Inside Horror. Elric’s back producing and directing and, now, hosting (alongside genre press mistresses Staci Layne Wilson and Jenna Busch).
Their very first episode aired live and on the internet last night, featuring premier Tfh guru/legend John Landis. Ostensibly there to promote his really incredible book — have I mentioned this before? It’s really lovely — Monsters in the Movies, the topics wander and the conversation’s freewheeling, ranging from the scene in Innocent Blood that Tomas Alfredson ripped off in Let The Right One In to darkness of the ending of Weird Science and...

Decapitations have been a horror movie staple for decades. To celebrate this fact, here’s Phil’s list of cinema’s finest choppings, loppings and beheadings…
In onscreen depictions of violence or combat, when it comes to delivering a coup de grace, nothing is quite so effective or final as a decapitation. It’s the death stroke that can illicit applause, gasps, cheers, screams, or make you feel a bit queasy, but no matter what the effect, it seems that you never have to wait too long for another one to come along in the crazy, wacky, world of on-screen carnage.
However, as this list shows, there’s more than one way to skin a cat, and movie beheadings have proved endlessly inventive, a fact that explains why something as mundane and straightforward as a guillotine will find no place in this top 10. This list is an attempt to celebrate the most shocking,...

Director: John Mallory Asher. Review: Adam Wing. Wreckage is a new horror movie directed by John Mallory Asher, best known for the role of Gary Wallace in the TV version of Weird Science. It’s a shame that he didn’t spend more time watching horror movies as a teenager, because Wreckage ticks off almost every cliché in the ‘Slasher Movie Handbook’. The first character we meet is happy to get into a strangers cars in the dead of night, despite hearing on the radio that a psychopath is on the loose - she may as well have ‘victim’ tattooed on her forehead. Mobile phones have no reception, which I could understand if the movie was set on the moon, and the wreckage yard they break into was built on an Indian burial ground. It soon becomes clear that some film titles write themselves.

The birthing of a film can be a painful process, particularly in the world of independent filmmaking, and while truncated shooting schedules, limited budgets and location challenges conspire at times to create seemingly insurmountable hurdles, nothing proves more daunting for cast and crew alike than being subject to a producer with more mood swings than a 1940’s jazz band.
Such was the case on the set of director Charlie Vaughn’s Blood Mary 3D.
Originally slated to shoot in December of 2010, executive producer Chalmers (who previously produced the Bruce Campbell flicks Man with the Screaming Brain and Alien Apocalypse) made the choice to film Bloody Mary in 3D, with production therefore being delayed until spring while logistics were being hammered out.
Shooting over the course of a short six days earlier this month in and around an industrial complex in South Central L.A., this writer paid the production a...

Bill Gaines is one of the most important figures in comic book history. In the '50s he was the man behind E.C. Comics, which with titles like Tales From the Crypt and Weird Science became a scapegoat for juvenile delinquency. A Senate Subcommittee investigation into the effects of horror comics led to a skewed public perception of Gaines that nearly put E.C. out of business. Gaines kept one title, which he developed over many years: Mad Magazine. Now John Landis, a director with quite a pulp instinct of his own, may finally have the money together to make a film about Gaines. Two years ago was the last time I remember the Landis biopic of Gaines coming up, but I'm sure it has been mentioned since then. Deadline says that Landis is in Cannes lining up the financing for Ghoulishly Yours, William M Gaines, based on a script by Joel Eisenberg.

Can you hear that creaking noise? It's the sound of the Farrelly brothers-led "Hall Pass" straining beneath the weight of the huge -- and ever-growing -- ensemble cast. A group that currently includes Owen Wilson, Amanda Bynes, Jenna Fischer, "The Office" star Stephen Merchant, "Saturday Night Live" comic Jason Sudeikis, "Curb Your Enthusiasm" favorite J.B. Smoove (Leon!), Nicky Whelan and Derek Waters.
Today, The Hollywood Reporter brings the news that four more have joined the cast: Christina Applegate, Alyssa Milano, "According to Jim" star Larry Campbell and "Weird Science" TV series star Vanessa Angel. Whew.
Frankly, I think Peter and Bobby Farrelly are due for a hit. They've been quiet these past few years, their most recent effort being "The Heartbreak Kid" in 2007, which didn't fare so well with critics or at the box office. Kari Lizer, left, with Julia Louis-Dreyfus
Although it has no Lgbt characters, CBS’s The New Adventures of Old Christine is one that queer audiences should be checking out — for several reasons.
This sharply written sitcom about a divorced mother (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) who lives with her brother, recently married her female best friend and is oftentimes too closely involved in her ex-husband’s life (whose new girlfriend is also named Christine, hence the show’s title), kicked off its fourth season last fall.
Speaking by phone from Los Angeles, series creator Kari Lizer recently talked to us about how Christine came to be, and the surprising lack of controvery the show's same-sex wedding generated.
After having a semi-successful acting career up until she turned 30, Lizer turned to writing with the intent she’d write acting parts for herself. Instead of acting gigs, however, her comedic writing got her noticed and...
