Les Cordier, juge et flic

Standard French Fare

Regularly shown on French TV, this is standard "crime" fair in the form of a TV series. Most of the actors are quite ordinary however Pierre Mondy who plays the father and who has in past film often played police roles carries it off very well as the police commissioner. Plots are fairly standard and nothing to write home about. Conflicts between Mondy ( the father ) and his son ( who is the judge ) are inevitable, one being more prone to law-and-order views and the other, as judges usually are, more laxist and left-wing. However, the series is not political and differences remain on a "family" level. If you like crime series then you may find this interesting. It cannot be compared to Maigret or Sherlock HOlmes, nor even Agatha Christie as the plots are not as convoluted and intricate. Nevertheless, if you are in the right mood ...... you may derive pleasure from some of the episodes !
