‘Toxic Crusaders’ Animated Series Heads to Digitally Remastered Blu-ray from Troma
Image
In the late ’80s and early ’90s, it wasn’t unusual for violent movies like RoboCop and Rambo to be turned into Saturday morning cartoons for kids, but The Toxic Avenger still seemed like an unlikely candidate — until the 1984 low-budget gorefest was cleaned up for “Toxic Crusaders” in 1991.

An environmentally-conscious superhero cartoon in the vein of “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” and “Captain Planet,” the show ran for one season. All 13 episodes are coming to Blu-ray from Troma on December 10.

While originally animated on 16mm film, “Toxic Crusaders” was mastered on videotape for broadcast, including all digital effects and transitions. To present the series in the best possible quality, Troma has used advanced AI models to upscale the standard definition masters in high definition to capture the original broadcast’s intended experience.

Special Features for the two-disc set include:

Image
Ken Page, one of Broadway’s most familiar character actors who indelibly lent his voice to Tim Burton’s holiday film classic The Nightmare Before Christmas as the villainous Oogie Boogie, died Monday, September 30. He was 70.

His death was announced on social media by his friend Dorian Hannaway, who wrote that he “passed quietly and peacefully at his home.”

Born January 20, 1954, in St. Louis, Page was determined to pursue a career on the stage as early as high school, and received a full scholarship in musical theater at Fontbonne College in Clayton, Missouri. He began his professional career in the chorus of St. Louis’ Muny theater before making his Broadway debut in 1977 in the replacement cast for Cats as the Lion.

A more noticeable star turn came in the 1976 Broadway revival of Guys and Dolls, with Page all but stealing the show as Nicely-Nicely. Next came the 1978 hit Ain’t Misbehavin...

Was the Seinfeld Curse Ever Real?
Image
Most of main cast of Seinfeld had a difficult time finding individual mainstream success after the series ended TV appearances seem to make up the majority of their careers, but it seems to be changing Any lack of success is either self-afflicted or not their fault at all

Seinfeld was one of the most decade defining sitcoms of the 1990s and its popularity and influence hasn't seemed to waver since it ended. The show was popular, in fact, that its practically impossible to hear the names of its main cast members and not immediately think of their role on it. It's been alleged over the years, however, that the show's popularity is exactly what has prevented them from finding that same level of success in other projects. This infamous theory has been long-known to the public as simply the "Seinfeld curse".

It's never easy for a sitcom actor to find...
